Noble seems to be the best balance for me. It's not too hard enough to have me moping at my computer, and it's not easy enough to have me sitting back and not thinking about my moves. The difficulty for me is somewhere in between those two extremes, and I like it that way.

I can easily win at Prince but haven't tried Monarch yet, but I usually play at Noble because the diplomacy pisses me off more in levels above Noble. Besides, I like the tech costs to have neat little zeros and fives at the ends of them:) .

currently pushed back my setting from noble to warlords.

I take out ... time, space race and diplomatic victory conditions to give me more challenge without the AI getting bonuses

Taking out those 3 lowers the challenge, it doesn't increase it. Space race is the only victory condition the AI goes after, while time and diplomatic it sometimes gets by accident. Taking out the 3 makes it 100% sure the AI will not win the game. You could then play on Deity and be certain not to lose.

Aye, I won a domination victory on diety with time space and diplomatic turned off.

My victory occoured at about 2700AD. At 2050AD I was still at the bottom of the points score, but eventually I caught up and won the game.

Warlord. Despite having played Civ from the beggining, I suck at Turn Based strategy games (although I did complete Civ I and II on the harder settings).

I play at noble cause im not very good but i get the most kick out of editng the game and seeing what i can do

I'm the only one who voted for settler. Because I suck majorly at this game. It was on a tiny map with Japan and England and I won Diplo.

started at cheiftan, moved up to warlord. Am now trying to win at warlord - aggressive AI's which seems to be my limit at the moment. I think you should have included the aggressive settings for each hardness as a half step on your poll. I never use space race as a victory condition. Landing on the moon did not win the cold war for the US.

Noble for me, too. As I only ever play on Huge (which I've made even 'Huger') maps on Epic (which I've made even 'Epicer') my games take weeks to finish, so at this rate I may get to Prince some time in 2008. :)

Noble, but I've won the last few readily, so I'll try my skills at a Prince game after I finish my crowning conquer-the-Earth-map-as-Caesar game I have going presently. :)

It didn't win it, but it certainly contributed to it, in terms of scientific advances, international prestige, national pride, and forcing the USSR to divert resources to compete.

Space Race victories are a builder's delight. It shows you can out-tech and out-build the AI any day of the week.

I usee to play Monarch but now I'm playing Immortal/Deity.

No, aand if you have no experience from that yourself don't avt like you know. Even if you disable the conditions you will not be certain to win. And you probably shouldn't waste your timw by trying. You'll lose by conquest.

I alternative between prince and harder settings, probably most of the rest are emperor or monarch. On prince I'll play with a leader I suck with or for fun. (e.g. I'm playing a prince game on continents to try to win a conquest victory where I also destroy every religion). Normally my games rely heavily on religion, so I figured it'd be a good challenge.

I play on Emperor level, but struggle quite a bit. Those barbarians become incredibly bothersome. Without copper or iron near my starting location, i can't seem to keep up.
