DipNES 06

It's good if you don't put too much expectations into it. By that, I mean if you just want to have a chill, fun shooter, then I think it fits the bill quite well. Multiplayer is fun too.

Sadly, as Yahtzee said, if DNF is not the greatest creation in the history of humanity, it will fail to meet our expectations. :p

I'm not playing as Austria again. I'm sick of that nation.

Lord of Elves is up.

There's a whole 24 hours until the new deadline; if another extension is needed, post on the thread please.

Thanks for the heads up. Now, I'm a bit of a curmudgeon, seeing as I'm used to a week or more for each turn's negotiations, but hopefully the 24 hours should suffice.

We still have no Austria. Deadline has to be extended... again.

I thought there was a line-up to play. Who's next?

I'm here for Austria, and ready to send orders, but was waiting for last-minute information from certain players. :blush:

EDIT: Orders sent a few minutes ago.

You usually can't count on people to be timely in responding on a forum, especially if they have already sent orders. :p GO WITH YOUR HEART LOE!

Nevermind, we do have an Austria :D. Turn will be up in a couple of minutes.

Edit: Thlayli, I actually don't have your orders. Blech.

Spoiler Player I'd love to be :

Germany

Germany poised for three builds, were it not for the French presence in Burgundy. Nevertheless, we'll see the full extent of Franco-German relations next turn!

Extremely aggressive British and Russian play, and average moves from Turkey and France. Austria made a mistake not moving into Galicia, methinks.

And we have Italy, enjoying our Mediterranean beaches and our fine women.

Big winner of the turn: Russia. Big loser? Austria. France might be in the running too; a German bounce in Burgundy might have done some good here!

I'd say the Russian play is pretty standard; aggressive would be Mos -> StP. It's solely Austria's fault that the Russian finds himself in Galicia.

And imo, Germany is a much, much bigger winner than Russia. Sure Russia may be bordering two of Austria's home SCs, but Germany currently holds the ability to make or break 3 separate countries.

You may be right about Russia -- I think I am overemphasizing the capture of Galicia, which is a result of the opening, not the opening itself. It's a fairly standard southern push, though most of these openings had seemed to be launched against Turkey, with a predetermined bounce in Galicia. We'll see what happens.

Germany would be golden had France not moved into Burgundy, but now there's always that stab into Munich that he has to worry about! I don't think the Sealion can be performed, which gives England some relief. That whole western Triangle could be a mess very soon.

Whats a sealion?

EDIT: answer by PM - just in case.

Even with Burgundy, Germany has considerable leverage. If France makes Germany angry, Germany can just support England into Belgium. Or he can just take Belgium himself, let England take Picardy, and France is dead.

But most awesomely, no matter who the German supports, he still gets the lion's share of SCs.

Whats a sealion?

Sealion is when Germany and France jointly invade England by sea early, quickly taking him out. It most commonly refers to:

F(Bre) -> Eng
A(Par) -> pic
F(Kie) -> Hol
A(Mun) -> ruh

followed by

F(Bre) s F(Hol) -> Nth
A(pic) -> Bel
F(Hol) -> Nth
A(ruh) -> Hol

This is a ruthlessly effective attack whose only good counter is moving London to Eng in Spring 1901.
