dl1 -- Xenophobia

If it's offensive, we're doing this without ever having a GA?

I was planning Pymarids (rel), Colossus, Great Library (sci) and MoM (sci). Maybe Oracle, Hanging Gardens or Lighthouse as well, SoZ is we can. Our UU is 2,2,1 so yes we won't be using them.

I think we should use Nineveh to expand around our capital, and then out in concentric cirlces. However, dl has played this before, so he might know better how to expand outwards.

We want as much 3 or more spacing around our capital, likewise with our next "ring". As soon as theres ~75% corruption it would just be better to ICS from there.

Set research to Philos. Thinking getting philos is quicker then Lit, and we can get lit free if we get Philos first, which is probable since this is regent. If there is a difference of oppinion don't hesitate to change what we study at this point.

I've set science to 70%, our break even point. although we do now hove 10g.

The builds in Babylon and Nineveh can be changed, since they were my own decision on what was best. I do know we need more workers, and I also think we want more cities, so I think these builds are best, but am open to other oppinions.

after the temple in Ellipi start the Pyr, per dl.

don't worry, I made no attempt to meet the owners of those orange borders, didn't even check the space race to find out who it was...hope this Xenophobia doesn't spread to my real life...hehe.

Turn 2 we get philo and lit
Change lots of builds to libs

Turn 8 research myth, turn off research

This gives us Pymarids, GL, Collossus, MoM and Oracle to build, we should get 3 or 4 of them

Ok, I've checked out the save and would like a little discussion before I play my turns. I don't know how well turning research off is going to help us. Using the G.Lib to get the tech's known by the other civ's can be useful in the right type of game, but in this one we aren't exploring. It could be quite awhile before we meet a 2nd civ to get any thing out of the G.Lib.

Not to mention that we haven't even began construction on it. Turning research off after we get a tech right before completion seems to me a good idea.

Looking at the techs we don't know yet, however, there is really only one I think we should study, Polytheism. This allows us the ToA, which puts a temple, and culture, in each of our cities.

I am fine with using the G.Lib for tech's, you never know, when we finally meet the other civs we may get more techs beyond Edu...if it takes that long. I still say we should study Poly and perhaps Mono(for the HG) unless we are prohibited from learning it as well as using the government.

Let me know soon, or I will play and research Poly for the ToA, because I think it is best for our 100K goal.

I don't like ToA for this type of game, because when it expires at education all those free temples are lost, I rather build and pay for the temples because of the double culture.

The reason I turned off research was to build up some money for later in the game, all these improvements are going to cost a lot later on. Right now we have more than enough wonders to build. The only reason I see to research now is to try for a Scientific Great Leader. When we get to middle ages we should self research mono and theo and turn research off again until education.

Ok, wasn't thinking about the free temples leaving so soon I guess. I don't have time to play tonightk, will play after work tomorrow.

Pre-turn 1000bc

nothing

975bc(1)

Building Lib's at 0% sci? Could use a couple more workers first, and another garrison for Ashur.

Switch Akkad to Spear. Will get Lib later, before we start studying again. Lib in Nineveh too far along to switch with out waste.

950bc(2)

Move second spear into Ashur for garrison, will need it in 3 turns. Can still reach the worker for protection if need be.

925bc(3)

Babylon Sett>>GL
Nineveh Lib>>worker

900bc(4)

Uruk founded, begin temple.
Akkad Spear>>worker

875bc(5)

nothing

850bc(6)

nothing

825bc (7)

Nineveh worker>>Oracle

800bc(8)

Akkad worker>>spear

775bc(9)

Spices connected, citizens are happy.

750bc(10)

Nothing...

Ashur;

Collossus in one turn, we can build a couple workers or a settler here. I think we should hold off on the MoM because it is pretty certain we will miss one of the wonders we are currently building, most likely the Pyr. If we don't study anything we'll have nothing to switch to and all our sheilds will be wasted. Granted the cheaper MoM will probably waste some sheilds, but not all of them

Akkad; After spear, build Lib, just occured to me Lib give culture as well as the boost to Sci...wasn't thinking. I do think the worker and spear will help us out in the long run though.

Uruk; After the plains are irrigated and roaded, cut forest to speed up temple and then irrigate for growth. I decided to irrigate and road the plains before cutting the forest because we can continue to grow at +2food while we cut the forest and irrigate the plains with spices. It should work out that the irrigation is complete the turn or turn after we grow to 3.

Hmm, the no research thing is kinda weird sounding to me. I've literally never tried to get behind... ;)

I'd think we also need Feudalism to get pikes as defenders, and then Gunpowder to upgrade to muskets, just in case someone thinks they can beat up on us so much that it can overcome the "least aggressive" setting.

By the time we start meeting people, we will prob get Mono, Theo, Feud, and more from the GL. It will take them coming to us. The north seems completely blocked off by the French now, although this is the first time I've seen Joan wearing orange, so most likely will meet AI's from the south, but who knows when. I don't think we'll have to study Mono or Theo...but'll we'll have to wait and see.

Oops, fell asleep early a couple of nights and forgot to play this.

Got it.

And played it...

We're up to 450 gold. Lots of wonders due in a little over 50 turns, hope they all last that long. Some population growth will shorten them.

Summary:
Mayans (dark blue) showed up in the south
All cities now have a temple and have or are working on a lib
Two settlers are due next turn
Oracle in 30
Pymarids in 36
GLib in 45

What we need:
More cities, current 100k victory date is ~3000AD, with each bit of culture that will go down.

Don't be afraid to agressivly settle for space i.e. right on the French boarder, if its in our territory it is fair game
