DMI VII - Team Vanilla

I am off line from now until Sunday night so enjoy.

Cheers

I cant wait until we get Cossacks so can see some action in turnsets ;)

We have completed unis in Moscow, St Petes and Novograd. Moscow has also had an academy added by GS. I traded fish to KK for some spare gpt.
We are 5 turns of Lib and Nationalism will take 15 currently. Nobody we have met has paper and only hattie has philo so I think we are safe to leave lib at 1 and self research Nationalism. We have another GS due in couple of turns, we could poss burn him and the GA for a golden age which could help speed things along.

I met HC, he is lacking in tech but we do have poss of a couple of trade options.

Not quite up to stuges level but I would go for the big one where we get Feud, MC and mono for CS and Music. Forges and OR will help buildings and Feud for Lbows??

If we can get the same deal with Philosophy, I'd rather deal that but not really sure it makes a difference, Civil Service will allow him bureaucracy and Paper.

Don't worry about action, once we have Cossacks, it'll be non-stop war.

Engineering will be a good tech pick up as well (in trade). The GA might bulb Theology now (Theocracy will be good once the cossacks are enabled) but we may also be able to pick it up in a trade.

stuge is UP!

If we get Compass and Metal Casing in a trade the Great Scientist will bulb Liberalism, bugger too late!

If we get the above and Machinery, Engineering and Optics it will bulb Gunpowder. Worth saving the Scientist until after we get Military Tradition and see if we can get it done?

EDIT: No it won't as Printing Press gets in the way. Golden Age may be best use.

Has anyone any objections towards wringing as many techs as possible from HC?

I wouldn't worry about trading him CS. No way he's going to get through paper and edu+lib in 20 turns.

I would side on keeping philo from HC for now as it is a tech on libralism path which only hattie has at the moment. If HC get sit he made trade it around. CS is available from everyone so me as well get the benefit from it.

Trading this round:

Washy got a sweet deal, but philosophy will do him no good when we finish liberalism in three turns and drama allowed Homer to pop theology.

An updated view of the American/Mongol territory:

The map trade made our scout there redundant, so I deleted him. Also, the cash is good for defict research. Notice how the shape of the map suggests that the map is a ring-shaped pangaea, with a sea passage next to Madrid. (We met Isabella already.)

Forges were the thing in infrastructure, they're complete in almost every city.
The barbs managed to promote our veteran sword by Vandal, so I started the Heroic epic in Moscow. I left the 2nd-level sword to keep an eye on the city.

A GS was born in Novgorod. I settled him in Moscow, you hardly can go wrong with academy+settled GS.

With defict research, we can clear liberalism and gunpowder in ten turns. Then a revolt to confu+theocracy and proceed to kill. When the cossack construction starts, consider replacing cottages with farms to max production.
The cossack brokerage train is here. (Maybe we should TM that.)

The save

The cossack brokerage train is here.

Choo Choo.

I'll hop on board tomorrow.

Seems fairly straight forward, Nationalism, Liberalism, Military Tradition and Gunpowder then mass cossacks.

There's also meant to be a 1AD report done (and 1000AD) which we've passed. I'll knock something up.

Any thoughts/additions/deletions?

Spoiler :
Where were we then?

That's right, Civil Service around 500BC. Sweet! :goodjob:

So what did we do between here and 1AD. Well as its about 20 turns, not much.

We debated about hacking on Hatty and in the end decided to stay the course and only war with Cossacks. This meant, of course, securing a source of horses. We decided on this one.

It wasn't settled by 1AD.

We also put up many confusing signs.

The Great Library was started as well.

Tech wise, we headed towards Music to get the free Great Artist, which we intend to use on bulbing Nationalism.

Actually, our tech plan after Alphabet was pretty tight. Literature, Music, Paper, Education (bulb), Philosophy (bulb), Nationalism (bulb), Liberalism, Military Tradition (from lib) and Gunpowder was all we intended on researching.

Just avoid Masonry and we're sweet. :king:

Any thoughts/additions/deletions?

Spoiler :

The main priority coming out of the last stage was to grab our supply of horse flesh. This is accomplished.

We were building Great Library. This is finished.

You'll notice Hatty has REXed all over us but that's OK, only means more for the cossacks.

We had our two Great Scientists to buld Education and Philosophy, our Great Artist to bulb Nationalism, we had researched Music and Paper, all we had to do was trade for Monarchy to clear the way for the Nationalism bulb. This was done

Ma... so... :nono: nr... [pissed] y... :ar15: :suicide: :deadhorse:

We'll have to get back to you

Two really good reports, Oz! :goodjob: Although, I'd probably add something to the 1AD report about losing the pig/rice/sugar city to Hatty. Otherwise, looks good!

Thanks for writing these reports up for us! :hatsoff:

This city is going to have to be our first cossack target, as once we declare war, we may lose our horse supply as I'm not sure the sea trading counts on different oceans (actually later map trading confirms different oceans)?

Izzy is a backwards old dear and I trade her Theology for Compass and some cash.

Old Washington has Gunpowder as well, so may be able to get this at some stage.

Anyway, on with the show.

I start building a few longbows for garrison duty once the cossacks have taken over cities.

I also trade Huayana Philosophy for Machinery.

We grab Military Tradition from Liberalism, Gunpowder in 7.

Hatty, Washington, Huayana and Kublai have Guilds. There will be Knights about. Huayana has Engineering which could be useful as well.

Look who showed up, the lengths some people will go to check out our game .

Heroic Epic completes 1 turn before Gunpowder due. :goodjob:

1330AD is the big year of Gunpowder. I stop here to hand off this.

I have selected Printing Press as next research target but we could just as easily go Engineering. Research is dialed down to 0% as we have 3 horse archers we can upgrade.

I think we should amass cossacks as quickly as we can (whip them mercilessly) and declare when we have 2 groups of 4 or so, something like this. We should leave one or two cossacks at home for protection as well.

We don't really need any seige but what we do have should head towards the Egyptian capital maybe. We should have support troops to fortify taken cities.

Not sure if we should stop trading at this point. We can pick up Engineering (for Nationalism and Drama) and Guilds (for Gunpowder). We should probably self research Engineering.

So, let's agree on a battle plan.

Ralph is UP.

OK this is my got it.

We seem to have an emerging consensus of
1 Lots of Cossacks
2. Upgrade HA's
3. Self research Engineering

Where are we / going with Civics? Time to suffer the Anarchy and switch
(can't look at save until tonight) Confucian / Theocracy / Vassalage?

I think we just need to agree civics before I play as I will just play enough turns to pop the two cossack armies out we need for Phase 2

Ralph

We're in HR already. I don't think that vassalage will us any good. Theocracy already gives us lvl 3 cossacks and I'd rather have the +50% hammers in Moscow.
