DMI XIII - The CTON

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!! Gooble, Gooble lets get these turkeys (in this game)

Both cities look good to me.

We need sentries out to see incoming units AND to mark off the land WE plan to settle versus the land we plan TO TAKE.

Played 8 turns. The settler is on yellow dot and can be settled next turn.

Ramses is right next to us to the NW.

And this means me....will post thoughts tomorrow, should have a chance to play by the weekend.

I call shenanigans. Copper + Horse in a two-food, two-hammer start capital with Gold and Ivory and flood plains, with Joao?

No way anyone, even Tommynt, would get that lucky in a CTON! ;)

Were it me playing this, I would get out to 4 or 5 cities with Granaries and Stable, and Barracks and 2 workers each, and kill both neighbors with Keshiks, with a stream of Settlers following in their wake to re-plant the cities I razed. :hammer:

Hi to Sunrise, Atlas, and Imhotep, by the way.

Too bad vra that you are not on the roster :p :D . Ah, hi Speaker. How did you come by this thread? ;) Yes, the starting position is crazy, as is the rest of the land. But the AI got equally good ones. The map is an HB_InlandSea, maybe you should try that one for your next CTON :D .

Roster duty:
  • Imhotep
  • Atlas
  • pigswill
  • Ozbenno
  • berserks01 >> JUST PLAYED

I love HB, but the food seems kind of "poor" for HB. Usually you get 4-6 food resources in the immediate area of your capital, plus stone and marble.

Dunno if you ever saw this SG I ran a couple years ago. I think I might run another SG in the near future. I have an interesting MP-based idea. :mischief:

Actually, I agree, for those that don't know HB maps ours is NOT very good. I suspect the AI capitals are better.

Well make sure to see if any MPers want to play in it Speeker :mischief:

If yellow dot is in the back lines - why put in on a hill, why not 1 tile E so that it has more mines to work. You could even farm the floodplains so that you could work all of the mines.

Still in vacation mode, so I made a silly mistake. :p

Anyway, I don't think Ruff's suggestion is better than the original yellow dot, so I settled Turfan where it was.

It has the same production capability, plus it pull in the silk. But, in retrospect, I think we should have settled closer to the capitol, since there is no way we are going to grow to size 21 in the capitol, so we might as well settle closer so that new cities can use the resources in the BFC of Karakorum. Should consider that for the next city.

Landed the explorer too close to danger  ...

... he died IBT ... but no, that was not the mistake I was referring to. Although the mistake can be spotted in the screenshot.

That's right, after getting HBR:

I chose writing instead of archery (didn't realize we don't have archery until I was wondering why we can't produce Keshiks). That was rectified in my last turn, but we lose 4 turns of keshiks production. Fortunately, I have not whipped any city, so next player can feel free to whip a stack of keshiks.

Situation at the end of my turnset (I think I played 7 turns):

And the current known position of enemies:

A bit confusing with the unrestricted leaders, so I apologize if I labeled wrongly (I don't think so though).

Commander Riker to Ensign Ro

Everyone know that one ;)
Well, everyone knows it incorrectly because you are wrong. Riker would never say that to Ro because he secretly hoped to 'bed' her.

:) yes, I remember that episode -- "Lower Decks" I think.
That is correct. Riker to a young Ensign who was trying to impress Riker and get promoted. He did eventually get promoted but it didn't feel right.

IIRC he did in the mind wipe episode with the phony war...
