DMI XIII - The CTON

I have the save, will play and report now

Please post a screenshot of the whole Mongolian empire, if you get a chance. Thanks!
Sorry, I was too busy with the epics to take a screenshot.

T0- I go around and do some touch up slaving, que up 3 settlers and generally prepare to fill in some land.

We now have currency and should not hesitate to build any and all cities. I built 3 new cities in the north that don't really need to be defended. We need to fill in the the southern part of the former Carthaginian empire. We are making good progress!

During the turnset we finished this-

I set us to deficit tech Guilds, but came up 1 turn short. There was a great general in the Cap, so I settled him for 11xp mounted units right out of the gate (another reason for heading to Knights!!)

Carthage gave us a great scientist, think we should lightbulb Philosophy or education with him, but would entertain other ideas.

Oh I also did this

Generally i think we should head to Liberalism and then all tech for all the advanced mounted units-Gers are Grrrrrrrrreat!

btw, I should be on auto-skip for Christmas until 30 December and will now take this time to use all of the seasonal emoticons

:rolleyes::p:(:);):D:blush::mad::rudolf::xmas::xmascheers::santa2::snowcool::xmastree::snowlaugh::xtree::xmassign:

Jeez....I know Greyfox is on the team but I didn't expect the:whipped: from Atlas as well :)

Anyways, the reason I said "If there are no turns within a few hours, consider me skipped due to technical issues" was because I knew it was either have the internet be healed (it wasn't, though it is now) or be AFK for several days due to travel. I should be good to go from the 29th on...thanks for your patience.

@Greyfox - You're right, I could have used my work PC to post the save, but that would have necessitated a trip to a store to pick up either a thumb drive (I apparently live in the last century) or some new blank CDs (I'm out), and then another trip into work to post. Not that I don't love all of you guys, but that wasn't really in the cards the day before I had to travel.

No worries Sunrise, I am dominating enough for both of us :p

I forgot a few emoticons :xmascheers: :xmastree:

Sorry, I was too busy with the epics to take a screenshot.
Love them epics! Keep 'em coming!

Oh, I have prepared a Christmas gift for speaker as well, but it is badly stitched (it does give an overview, for details, refer to imhotep's 2-pics)
Thanks GreyFox.

Happy Holidays to all.
(No emoticons from me)

Sorry for the short notice. I'd like to skip this round because I'm devoting my civ time to a noble walkthrough at the moment.

:xmassign:

Hope everyone has a nice christmas day. I didn't eat as much as I was intending which is slightly disappointing but I certainly made up for it with how much I drank , so big ups to the clan of Ozbenno for a fantastic day.

Anyway on to the game. I look around and see a nice shiny new target. I might send some troops this way.

civ4screenshot0000ox4.jpg

The front seems manageable so just press enter.

Guilds comes in, Banking next.

The attack of Kerkouane starts with 2 sac cats, then a mace and elephant lose at high odds. We have another city though.

civ4screenshot0001ol3.jpg

We pop another GG. He convieniently pops in our highest hammer city without a merged GG, so merge away.

civ4screenshot0002vc2.jpg

We have had Hinduism spread around so can look at a civics/religion change if we want.

Sicca is razed but we lose a couple more seige and are running low. Some shiny new trebuchets are on order though.

civ4screenshot0003uh5.jpg

Banking is replaced by Paper, so we can use the GS on Education. We can go Mercintalism and Hindu. Theiocrracy might be good as well but we don't have the techs. So I double switch.

civ4screenshot0004mu7.jpg

We should be right to take another city of two in the next few turns but just keep up the trebuchet production. I've started some banks and grocers as well as we're down to 20% science.

Merry Christmas, y'all!!!

I'll take this for a spin tomorrow.

BTW, very nice christmas schemes.

Ok, nothing much to change except sending 2 workers who were sitting on their arses doing nothing to work.

The landsknecht killed one of our knight IBT, so I captured the city in retaliation.

Civ4ScreenShot0000-72.jpg

Took out a couple of Greek knights trying to sneak into our territory, no loss.

Got a GP. He's currently sleeping in Karakorum waiting to hopefully install another holy city somewhere.

Took Hadramentum with 2 sacraficial pults and lost 2 WE and 1 knight with great odds. The RNG is not favorable to me this winter.

Civ4ScreenShot0001-70.jpg

Hadramentum even comes with its own Military Instructor :)

Paper in.

Civ4ScreenShot0002-65.jpg

Education next (16 turns). The GS is burned for 1304 beakers towards Education bringing it down to 5 turns.

Civ4ScreenShot0003-64.jpg

Took out a mini Greek sod while healing in Hadramentum, no loss.

Razed Thaenael.

Civ4ScreenShot0004-57.jpg

Thaenael gave us 4 workers who are put to good use :goodjob:

Education in, I was deciding between Gunpowder or try for Liberalism. Gunpowder won for the muskets.

Civ4ScreenShot0005-49.jpg

Gibbon thinks we're puny culture-wise. Who cares?

Civ4ScreenShot0006-38.jpg

Tacapei signals the end of Carthage. We kept it since it's close enough and has good tiles to work. Lost a knight and both trebs at excellent odds. The RNG is truly not favorable to me.

Civ4ScreenShot0007-33.jpg

A GA is born :( He's heading towards Karakorum to await orders.

A fresh batch of trebs(6) are forming at Leptis for the war effort heading west. Our main stack is currently split between Kerkouane and Hadramentum.

Samarqand is also forming it's own batch of trebs and a small invasion force to head south. The stack at Tacapei can join up with them.

I've spread Hindu to most cities with only a couple left without hindu. I've also finished banks, markets, and grocers in the major cities, and our science is now at 40% and still in the green with +12 gpt.

Well, sunrise did said he is only "good to go" on 29th, so I got it.

Great job with the killing Ramesess. But not so good on spreading the hinduism and the marker/grocer/bank ... ... the holy city is without any. It shouldn't be pumping our missionaries (that can be done by other cities, monastery does add 10% beakers, so no harm building them) but should build the bank ASAP.

The GA seems prime for a Golden AGe (though it will be short, seeing this a quick game). The best way is to get Theology after gunpowder, then start a GAge with the GA and revolt to theocracy.

Greece is the score leader, so we should probably focus on killing Cyrus (plus Athens is ridiculous in terms of number of Wonders) so as to overtake him in score -- thus at least guaranteeing a time victory. We are at the halfway mark in number turns left, seeing as we still only own a tiny fraction of the land, probably that is the only form of victory that is viable.

Expect the report in 12 hrs.

Made a few troops deploymen changes, basically moving extra units in our inner core cities to those even-inner core that sports longbow. These longbows should be moved to the front. We are in need of them to follow the stacks.

I don't think we have a chance in liberalism, as Greeks already have gunpowder (too). While we don't even have Philosophy. Let's see how things turn out.

DMI-13-AD1630-Greek-suicide.jpg

The greeks send in their suicide troops. Resulting in a GG, which is promptly merged to the chariot that is featured in the inset of the screenie below -- he will be our 2nd supermedic. I think we need one more (i.e. total of 3) with the plan of a southern expedition.

DMI-13-AD1650-GG-Chariot.jpg

As if that is not enough, Cyrus must flashed his settler only to be escorted by a lone knight near our border. He is tempting me ... as if daring me to take him on.

Well, Mr Cyrus of Greece, you touted with the wrong person. If that is what you want, that's what you will get.

DMI-13-AD1665-attack.jpg

Killed his phant and enslaved his settler, and since that put our troops one tile away from his Christian Holy City, well, it naturally leads to a full invasion of Greece.

Meanwhile, Cyrus learnt liberalism. hmmm ... just in time for the city of Thapsus to be liberated.

DMI-AD1665-Thapsus.jpg

Our own scientists haven't been slacking either, in rapid succession, we learnt Monotheism and Theology, and we are ready for a Golden Age fuelled revolt.

DMI-13-AD1655-GoldenAge.jpg

Wait ... something is not right. Organized Religion???

That's right, on second thought, I decided to go for OR first. Quite a few cities are doing infrastructure builds, so might as well make full use of the golden age and revolt twice -- first to OR where most cities would switch to infrastructure builds, then finally, when the GAge is about to end, switch to theocracy.

DMI-13-AD1680-GS-and-civics.jpg

End turns, we siwtched back to theocracy at the last turn of the GAge, and we got a scientist which I am unsure what to do. Settling him or building the academy seems the best way, since we have no use for Philosophy now that Liberalism is already out of the quest. Alternatively, we can use him with the GProphet to trigger another golden age (once we get rilfing, which is clearly what I was going after, with Printing Press -> Replaceable Parts).

Speaking of the GProphet, we own the Christian Holy City, and is in reach for a Islam Holy City as well.

DMI-13-AD1680-Myceane.jpg

However, I am not sure if we should be burning him for a shrine -- since we are in theocracy which does not allow for a non-state spread. So, getting a holy shrine seems rather pointless in the mid-term.

Oh, One More Thing (tm), our forces had also started the Southern Campaign:
