The Religious History of Imperialist Tarrism:
Originating in the island's far south, along what their people call the Great River and Kenbu now calls the Southern River, Tarrism originated. Little different from ancestor worship, it had one difference- it evolved Polytheism quicker. There was also a cultural difference in the area- the Sacrifice.
All the tribes would gather and sacrifice people to the river. This used to be what distinguished Tarrism from Animism in it's early history. Sacrifice to the Northern River would replace it in Kenbu, however. In the early days, however, this didn't happen. The main god of the area was Tarr, who was said to be the source of fish.
Things began to change when a glorious chief that temporarily united the 'Great River' and almost created a civilisation was declared a god. At this stage of development, you had the beginnings of what in retrospect was 'Orthodox Tarrism'. However, as time went on more and more and more people for less and less glorious achievements were declared gods by their tribes.
But there weren't many gods to begin with- there were still reasonably sane-sized pantheons per tribe. Each tribe had a variant of Tarrism after this that bore it's name. The Fagria (across the river from Kenbu), the nomads that would later conquer it, overthrew Fagrian Tarrism after one of their people, having just been declared a god, was discovered to be a traitor.
These people added five rites, three of which would last- the denunciation of false gods in a ceremony where everybody shouted at pictures of them, funerals where people were thrown into the river, the worship of all fish as aspects of Tarr, the banishment of all criminals from the river and its banks in special ceremonies held by the river, and a ceremony of adulthood which required a successful raid into Kenbuan territory.
Imperialist Tarrism came to maturity when Gekang, a religious reformer, added all the tribal gods to the pantheon in exchange for minor land concessions. After winning a tribal civil war, (with tribal support in exchange for giving back the minor land concessions) he made a doctrine that all people who gained glory in life would be gods. He also invented the afterlife based on the gods choosing who got into it, as a way of trying to keep his people in line.
Gekang would ultimately fail, and his supporters would flee southeast. Eventually, they would attack and conquer Kenbu and institute a Republic. Meda, it's conqueror, was wise enough to realize the merits making his religion into something saner. It took time and almost a civil war, but he managed to eliminate the ceremony of adulthood and replace it with a ceremonial version of a ceremonial raid into Kenbuan territory, and allow those not close enough to the Southern River to use the Northern River.
After that, Imperialist Tarrism was what it is today. It got its name from its opponents, but it stuck. It encourages glory, but has the potential to cause civil strife.

Little did you know until now that while everybody else was busy dying, Karlyk II fled into the night with a reality modification device, and wrote the smilie invasion out of existance (as you can clearly see by looking where the smilie update used to be).

thanks, and Tarrism will appear in the next update. Speaking of which…
Now, Yutan really does have the weaker military.
