Do you ever post in a thread, and then forget that you posted in it?

I ended that my second day here after I got 50 new messages from Civfanatics alone.

I usually don't forget because I usually read my post a half dozen times before I hit 'send' (and why sometimes my posts end up being really long because I spent so much time thinking of what their counterpoints to my post will be that I end up using alot of parenthesis adding in excess stuff).

So the post is pretty well ingrained in my head by then, that I remember it for quite some time. I check OT often enough that I usually only have to check page 2 on the 3 days of the week that I work (no computer at work for me, unlike some people....).

I had never heard that phrase before either, but from googling I am guessing it means a thread that has 'risen from the dead' (a thread that hasn't had a post in months/years, and then suddenly someone posts in it, bringing it back to page 1).

It happens fairly frequently that I will see the "posted in" dot on the icon and have minimal recollection of what I posted about, sometimes even if the title is vague, I don't remember the discussion.

I never look at black dots, but use the subscribed threads folder.
If you forget what you did post in it: you shouldn't have posted in it .

I just look at the black dot. The worst thing is that i forget what the thread is about and I post about something irrelavent.

Most of the time I don't forget what I've posted in a thread. But it does of course happen now and then, especially with the old bumps, so I voted "Yes".

Quite often (increasingly these days) I won't revisit a thread and reply because it would only mean posting "ok" or "fair enough" or "thanks for the response", because I don't have time, see it as a waste of time, think someone who has replied is being a troll/idiot, or because I simply can't be bothered.

How do folk feel when their post doesn't get replied to? Do they assume the above?

PS: The scrolling through a thread can be avoided by clicking on the "go to first new post" arrow by the thread title. Very handy that one.

Is subscribing when you get sent an email everytime there is a post in the thread? Good God, my email would be flooded. I can see where it would be beneficial for people who don't check the forums often, so a thread otherwise could easily be bumped and they missed it because it drops to page 2, 3, or 4 etc. before they check the forums again. But I check the forum far more often than I check my email.

No, subscribing puts it in the "subscribed threads" folder in your user cp. You can turn off the "email me when..." option.

I post and if it weren't for the "posted here already marker" or whatever it's called, I'd post and probably say the same thing.

Most OT threads I remember posting in, as they have a habit of aggravating me. So they stick in my memory better.

Either that, or I've made such a wonderfully logical, coherent, and compelling case for whatever the hell I'm talking about that they were awestruck and immediately agreed with me, but didn't say so because to do so would detract ever so slightly from the aura of my post.
