I feel like I'm eavesdropping.

 I'm sorry, Dachs. I have to say it's nice to see that most people are like me on this one, though.

Yes, and I wish I didn't need it, cuz it's impossible to get the bill below $40/month.

I had one for a long time, got my first one in the early 90's. Haven't had one for the last 5 years or so and I don't miss it one bit. TBH I always found it incredibly annoying that people could contact me anytime, anywhere (Mostly because that makes people seem to think you want to be called and annoyed anytime your phone is on, even if it's 3AM). I stick to a VOIP phone at home and that's good enough. Anytime I'm out of the house I don't want to be contacted anyway, since it means I'm already busy doing something relatively important. Hell of a lot cheaper too.

Also, I find it pretty funny hearing people talk like life on earth would stop for them if they no longer had a mobile phone... You are aware that human civilization existed for years without them, right? Sure they're convenient, but they're hardly life or death.

Got my own last month to quell my wife's fears of me having car problems... and so she can yank the leash when I'm no where to be found at the mall.

It's rotary, black, and indestructible.

How come you know so, so much about phones? :)

Honest question here.

I tend to compulsively research anything before I spend my money to ensure I'm making the best possible choice for my needs. Since I got my first cellphone a couple months ago, I did all my homework beforehand, and stay up to date in case there's a better deal for me to switch to.

Nice deal. The current plans available on their website aren't that good though. I'd have to wait for a special I guess.

Hm, I didn't check the US site, but the plan is still offered on their Canadian one.

Doesn't make much sense, as it gives unlimited US roaming...

(Although the satellite phone themselves are still pretty pricey, and have issues inside buildings)

That's great! If more people would do that you'd get a lot more smart choices. :) I do that often myself (although that's definitely not the reason why I know stuff about this topic in particular), so I admire it when I see it. :)

Yes, just because almost every other member of my immediate family has one. My dad is the exception to the rule of owning a cellphone.
