Does this seem right to you?

Just think, you may live to see the end of wildlife on this planet. Perhaps even the end of mankind :undecide:
Ummm, wildlife and man could both survive through this, in fact they both already have.

Oops, I linked to the last instead of first page. Fixed.

Eternal winter for the UK (and North Europe) is an unlikely, but possible outcome. Check out the 2065 temperature rise in Africa - and I thought it was hot already!

At least in the end, you'll be able to see where the continents are.

No they haven't. The last time earth experienced a change in temperature, it was far more gradual. This won't leave time to adapt.

But remember, corporate profits are more important than this.

I'm 24 and don't want kids, shall I be worried?
Do you want a comfortable retirement?

I won't reach that age anyway. And should I for some miraculous reason get that old capitalism will have destroyed any potential comfort anyway by then. And all freedom... ;)

This seems good to me. By the time things begin to really heat up I will be old. You here about old folks dying of exposure in their own houses during winter here in Scotland. Not me though!!! Looks like I will be working on my tan instead.

Personally, the environment is a very low concern for me. If the Earth were to go Venus like it would serve as the perfect stick to get humanity thinking seriously about space travel. I'm not much of a polluter compared to the average person so I will really have to raise my game if I want to see humanity heading for the stars in my lifetime.

There's another part there that shows the "Oceanic Conveyor Belt" (Gulf Stream, etc.) that might stop running, and seems to be happening now. It'll probably stop within 5 years. That might mean more hurricanes, since the Gulf Stream won't be carrying them out to sea.

Scientists predict the Earth will warm by 1.4 - 5.8C by 2100. Even 1.4C is more than temperatures are thought to have changed since the dawn of humanity.

They don't know? they're only guessing?

This is total nonsense. We are told that the temperature will keep rising with the given trend, but we all know that's not the case. Once the earth get's as hot as the sun, the sun won't be able to heat the earth up anymore, so the temperature will stop rising.

well, if you take my neighborhood as an example (9 out of 10 homes own an SUV) then we're all doomed....

@samildanach, not if the conveyer belt stops pounding the British Isles with warm air. If that happens, England will be like Sweden... and Scotland like Northern Russia :undecide:

Maybe those places will warm up a bit, but I think your sun tan will be cancelled out.

Doom Doom Doom... Almost sounds like what the Orcs were saying in Moria.

Seriously, I'm not too worried about this or any other doomsday scenario that we potentially face. Mankind has survived through alot and always comes out on top.

You mean like the city smogs mankind created, that killed thousands of people, and we then decided maybe we should clean up the cities... that's how we survived, we did something about it!

Fortunately, cities are small, they are easy to fix... the planet is not.
