[UI] Dolen2's Ethnic Diversity

You need all 3 mods. When i started to play with this mod i turned on only 2, because i thought 3rd needed only for other mods compatibility, but it turned out that for smooth gameplay you always need all 3.
Civilizations that may cause problems if not all parts of the mod are installed: Celts, America, England, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Spain, Rome, Greece, Portugal.
You can download InGame Editor mod and add lancer unit to any civ mentioned above, if your problem is really in the lancer, then game will crash immediately.

EDIT: I tried to load your saves, but i miss many required mods from your setup. You sure that Dolen's mod is the problem? You tried to turn it off and load your saves? Do you use some other graphical mods? Dolen's mod pretty old, it have some incompatibilities with new versions of Vox Populi (i fixed some of them when i played recently, check supercarrier and tank fix above if you manage to solve your problem with the mod) maybe Dolen's mod have incompatibilities with some other mods

I've already seen the patches for Supercarrier and Light Tanks but I haven't gotten to that time in years. I go further but I can't play Civ5 without the ethnic units. I tried playing without the City States but with the Barbarians in raging. It crashes though on civilisations but I can't figure out why. Must have started 20 games in a month. None besides Gunpowder. I really don't understand. Maybe there really is some conflict with Dolen. But my question is: can you guys play with Vox Populi and Dolen's mod?

Hex and Conquer Release, A Wonder by Era by City, Caravan Trade Routes, Arendelle Components (Manpower, Seapower and Promotions), Tectonic Map Script, Dynamic Cities by VP, Tactical Combat, Ocean Movement, Control Technologies, Civilian Medical Units, Helicopters can fly over water, Truly advanced layout, +1 Movement for all, Buildings at half cost, =No giant death robots=, Modification of historical religions (BNW or GK), Great Spy, Rebalancing of city combat, Modernisation and Contextual Unit Names - Enemy Reconnaissance.

I had CTDs on lancer, because i use only 2 parts of the Dolen2's mod, but figured it out, also in the end sometimes my saves didn't load and i got CTDs, but lower video settings or sometimes just tweak video settings back and forth allowed me to continue.
Used mods: Community Patch, Vox Populi (4.17 i think, loaded at late august), VP - EUI, Squads for VP, More Unique Components for VP, Yet Not Another Earth Maps Pack, Dolen2's Ethnic Diversity (all 3 parts), InGame Editor+, UI - Promotion Tree for VP

I always played with all 3 parts. What kind of changes to the video setting did you make? I play at low level and two or three settings at medium. No antialiasing, I respected the setting of both Vox Populi and Dolen. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Maybe it is the video setting that makes the difference. Give me some pointers so maybe I will try.

Ps. were the CTDs always at the same shift? To me they were.

Broooo, much appriciated. You're a game changer! I'm going to my new playthrough, finally with latest version of VP and this great unit diversity. It was such a dream to play without CTD. I'll look if something go wrong and write here.

sounds cool, if you find out how to make the late game turn loading times let us know lol
 
So I have some news. I even managed to get to the atomic age. 8 civ, quick speed, starting from the classic age. all smooth. I had fun for the first time in years with ethnic units. Finally! I tried some more games adding and removing civs causing CTDs. Aztecs, Songhai and now Morocco. Got to the industrial age and it always crashes. Without them I can proceed, but I am doing more testing.
 
Unfortunately i had a multiply CTDs over my 4 playthrough, and i can't continue this games. I don't have enough time for testing and figure out, what's the reason, so, again, i just drop this mod before good times. So sad, but it's not stable, even only with VP and nothing else.
 
It doesn't work even on VP itself (crashes) and is completely dead.

This mod has an option called "Vanilla Scale", is there a way to enable RED scaling with this mod? Love the work!

I would genuinely pay somebody quite a load of money to develop this. ngl. Right now I think this mod needs to do the following.

1. Get rid of unnecessary or redundant reskins - like roman legions, or american marines. Some vanilla default skins already resemble cultural counterparts so they can be removed.
2. A lot modern or atomic reskins honestly can be done away with. It causes the most CTDs, are the most buggy, and contribute little to add to immersion. People mostly care about ethnic diversity showing in the ancient to early industrial era, but people don't really care if we're not using the right artillery or right 21st century tank or helicopter for a country.

If we did these things the mod would genuinely be functional again.

I for one would pay at least 500 dollars to somebody who works on this.

I'm willing to set $500 down for this. Should we start some kind of bounty? I'm sure there is a way to pool together funds and list a bounty with clear goals and objectives.

My proposal would be something like this

1. Optimize the skins so their impact on vram isn't as severe.
2. If possible, add unique unit names the same way Gaia's revamped version of ethnic diversity does on steam workshop.
3. Divide the mod into more than three separate packs, each representing a certain era so users can pick and choose which era's skins to load and reduce bloat and vram load. (For example I only want ethnic skins up till the modern era, and I don't care much for the atomic and informatio era. (Most games don't last that long anyways)
4. Give certain civs more distinction and historical flavor, like varangians and cataphracts for byzantium, and no fantasy "American" swordsmen for America, instead just using anglo saxon skins.
5. If possible, create compatibility with the enlightenment era mod.
6. Maintain the mod for bug fixes if possible.

I think there are people who would genuinely consider this for a thousand dollars or more.

I am decided to play Civ5 again, one year after my last game :c5happy: With this mod of course.
I am playing at giant earth map with 21 civs and around 30 city states, curently i am at 273 turn, in information era, almost all tech researched and most civs have access to all units. No critical CTDs to this point. I had couple CTDs in 250+ turn, but after reloading all were fine, so it were memory issues i guess, not a mod bug.

Also i specifically included Aztecs, Songhai and now Morocco, so far so good.

I use Vox Populi mod 4.22, Dolen2's Ethnic Diversity (all 3 folders), Yet_not_another_earth_maps_pack_v_22, More Unique Components for VP, UI - Promotion Tree for VP, Route Planner for VP.

I use this video settings, it allows to play comfortably till 250+ turns without graphical glitches at all, at least on my i3-8100, GTX1060 6GB, 8GB RAM. After 250+ turns sometimes, rarely i had glitches at leader screen. Last year lowering video options helped me in late game.

My current recommendation to restart the game before loading save, because in late game when i tried to load game after playing for a while i had CTDs.
Also i play with Vox Populi mod, maybe this have some impact. And if you play without Vox Populi you don't need to install Tank and Carrier fix from my previous posts.
 
I can confirm that the mod is more or less stable save the occasional CTD every few hundred turns or so even on extremely large maps. My own custom map is 192x108 or so, which is the biggest map size the game can handle without crashing. I played a full 22civ 39 city state game all the way to 600 turns with only 3 crashes.
