Known bug: Currently, medieval units that have the Gran Companyia Promotion do not lose it when they are upgraded to renaissance units. Only newly created units will no longer have the promotion. @Rekk detected this bug and posted a request on Github, thanks to him.

This looks super cool! It appears to be a good civ for either Tradition or Authority, which is an interesting balance to strike. I don't know if the Sagrada Familia will be any good, but it's really awesome so I'll allow it!

I presume the Gran Companyia promotion has a cap so that your units don't become totally ridiculous on larger maps or other continents?

Thank you for this feedback, I'm still discussing a lot of balancing points with Hinin but the idea is there. La Sagrada is a symbol in Catalonia, we had to use it but I must admit that it is so late that it will not weigh too much in the game, especially since personally I rarely play beyond the era industrial .

Currently this is not possible so indeed, on larger than large maps, the effect can be distorted. On the advice of Hinin, the Promotion will be limited to naval and reconnaissance units (including the Almogaver which will be a mercenary unit that can be upgraded to Commando and no longer to Tercio).

I don't regard the promotion as too strong when affecting all units. I checked on a huge Milae's map: you would rarely get more than 30% bonus out of it. And if you want to go authority, during your first conquests you will only get 10 to 15%. Limiting it to scout and naval units would kill the authority option for this civ IMO. Also, I don't support making the Almogavers a scout unit. This unit wants to attack cities, but as scout it does not get drill and city attack. So it would take very high damage from cities and deal little.

Some questions on the planned mechanics:
UA: as I understand it, you get culture when you buy a tile and gold when you gain a tile by natural border expansion. You get GPPs in both cases. But do you also get GPPs when using a citadel or conquering a city?

Llotja: how does the policy cost reduction work with regard to the policy cost increase of non-puppet cities (5% per city iirc)? Is it merely subtracted from the 5%, resulting in 4% cost increase, or is it applied after the cost increase, and thus gives a bigger decrease?

Sagrada Familia: do the conversions of building production to GPPs only apply to the city of Sagrada Familia or to all cities?

I love the concept that you need many parts to complete the Sagrada Familia!

I am very pleasantly surprised by a return to this civilization which does not yet exist. Thank you @KlHannibal2 :).
I must admit that I no longer work on it at the moment, lack of courage to finish but I'll get back to it.

I agree with you, I've played it several times it doesn't seem too powerful to me but at the same time I really trust @Hinin in terms of game balance.

The almogaver will indeed be a melee type unit (mercenary), it is through its upgrade that it will switch to a reconnaissance unit, the commando instead of the tertio.

The last version discussed with Hinin would be :

Almogavers
Unlocked at Chivalry
Upgrade into Commando
Gains promotions like a Melee Unit
Must be purchased with Gold
No movement or XP penalty when purchased with :c5gold: Gold
280 :c5gold: Gold cost (Standard speed)
+1 :c5gold: Gold for Maintenance Cost

21 :c5strength: CS
2 MP / 2 Vision

Ignores Terrain Cost
Formation II
Gran Companyia
(from UA) - +1 % CS per tile away from the Capital
Desperta Ferro - Ignores ZOC, pillaging fully heals the unit

Not in these cases.

That's a very good question, I have no idea . I used the same SQL function as for the Eiffel Tower.

Sagrada Familia: do the conversions of building production to GPPs only apply to the city of Sagrada Familia or to all cities?
For the City of The Sagrada Familia.

For the City of The Sagrada Familia.

Thank you, I really need to finish.

Thank you for the detailed reply! I hope you can find the time to finish it. As with a big cathedral, it would be a shame to stay unfinished.

I was trying to wrap may head around the authority vs tradition choice. In the end, traditions seems the way to go for me.

What does Catalonia offer for authority?
You gain more gold on border pop than authority already gives you. (And you would get the same with tradition).
If you have many cities, you get a bigger discount for border expansion and policies from Llotja.
You get a combat bonus that scales with distance to capital.

All together, I think it would work much better with tradition. In each city, you can get a certain amount of border pops per game. The GPP you get from them depend on how many specialists you are working. So tradition gets a lot more out of the UA. The sagrada familia and llotja GP slots also synergise more with tradition and a GP engine.

Overall, I would play them as tradition GP spam. Maybe conquer a city state or 2 later in the game. To get cities that already have biildings, are easy to take, but also have only a small territory. So you can use speialists there soon and still have many border pops available.

The combat bonus is a bit odd. I could see it used in late game wars to weaken a remote contender.

The international brigade allows you to keep just a small army. If you are attacked (which is what you want), you get many free units. And after the peace deal, they turn into food and GPP. I like that the brigade pushes you to open all 3 industrial policy trees and take a widely followed ideology.

Have I missed anything about authority?

In my tests, civilization works very well with Tradition / Fealty but I only very rarely play with authority, not really tried.
I'm thinking about maybe changing the UA promotion slightly to better stick to Catalan history and maybe push the game to Authority.
Instead of "Recon and Naval units start with Gran Companyia Promotion", use "All military units before Renaissance Era start with Gran Companyia Promotion" (lost with upgrade).

For me, Peace Theme had to be "El Cant dels Ocells", I therefore chose one of the multiple versions of Jordi Savall which brings me great plainness when I play this civilization.
But I could not fail to quote the Master Pau Casals whose version has toured the world and symbolizes absolute peace.

UA doesn't give GPP on tile acquiring. Both on buying and earning.

Sorry, I don't see anything on your printscreen that can help me. In my case it works fine. The gain is only made if you have a specialist in the city and you win a tile. In your example, you would have to buy a tile and see if there is an artist progression. You can also send me the lua.log file to see if there is something wrong.

As you can see in first screenshot I have an artist working and progress is only 3 GAP but as you can see on second screenshot (same turn) I earned a tile with iron in Barselona so it gave me not even 1 GAP. I tried to buy a tile same turn and it gave me no GAP.

Read your lua, the lua codes of the two civilizations you added are not loading (Catalonia and Cambodian). You have an error on the Ingame.lua of the community patch which does not work either. This error seems to occur after loading Wonder Race and before Catalonia. May be a problem with (overhaul) Unique City States for VP or Vox Populi's Bare Necessities.

It seems like this error became a thing after VP 3.0 update, I don't know what caused it. Probably Lua loading issue by the DLL.
Previously, if there was a Lua error it should provide the error line. But now the file just doesn't load entirely. This is a major problem for modders, and I probably will report this on GitHub.

This thing infuriates me when I try to experiment with IGE (FYI, it has its own bug reporter), if there is an error, the core Lua of IGE won't load at all. That means I can't figure out what caused the issue.

yes, it's relly problematic. There is still an error line for the Ingame.lua though, if that helps.
