Don Deity: Warlords 2.08, huge random continents map, epic speed

Great update! Go Supersnaat!

I hope general Supersnaat does not get too proud after all his success and attempt a coup d'etat....

Oh that was a shame. Poor Germany and Bismark. Partitioned between England and Persia and England will soon have artillery. Without the fleet to transport Supersnaat home, it could be hard to stop him from conquering Persia as well. Cyrus has proved he can't be trusted.

Dissent, distrust, hatred and betrayal everywhere...the world is really all evil and violent. And so, Germanys fate was sealed :goodjob:

Poor Germany. He played with fire and got burned. Surprising twist though, from snaatys earlier posts I half expected Persia to join Germany against snaaty.

Keep up the good work, I've been following this thread for months now. Read the 15 first pages in a few hours, and been subscribing to this thread ever since. Cheers!

I've only just joined up as a member of Civ Fanatics and I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread most of all. You have a nice writing style, kind of reminds me of Pratchet! I've spent the last 3 days reading the mighty English nation's exploits and I'm really looking forward to your next update!

Keep up the awesome work!

OH my goodness! the last time I read, you were midway through the war with Alex! now there is betrayal, war, and excitement going on in the whole western hemisphere! Great update, and keep it up!

The German War, Part 3: New friends, new foes…

...

And General Supersnaat´s plan worked… …even better then expected:

Not only was the main host of the German navy really caught by surprise and destroyed within the harbour of Stuttgart, backed by heavy cannon bombardment from the advancing USoF army, Cologne, the second German seaport controlling the channel also fell only some days later. There really seemed to be no coordinated resistance in Germany, the whole country was in turmoil. The USoF were wrecking havoc in South Germany, while the Persians were now advancing even into Central Germany, and the USoF spies soon reported that Leipzig, one of the biggest German cities in central Germany now had also fallen into Persian hands and that the host of the Persian army now was already advancing towards Dortmund to put up their siege engines and to prepare to take the city.

General Supersnaat now had to make a decision… …leaving Dortmund to the Persians would cut off South Germany from the rest of Germany… …and therefore leaving the rest of the falling country to Cyrus. What a genius plan… …without much resistance, treacherous Cyrus now seemed to be able to double his empire at the cost of the USoF soldiers doing the dirty work. This had to be stopped, stopped immediately… …so he sent out a messenger to Don Deity the same day he received news about the fall of Leipzig and the siege of Dortmund to ask for advice…

...

Bismarck’s palace in Berlin Don Deity and Bismarck:

“Thanks for dropping by that quickly, Don Deity…”

“Yea… …no problem… …we had our differences in the past, when you decided to help the Indians in their effort to subdue our pacifistic nation… …but now it seems it’s time to lay down the guns for good…”

“So you would be willing to support us in the war against the evil and treacherous Persians?”

“Yes, I would, treachery (done by others) is one of the things I hate most and therefore I think it’s time that the USoF and the German forces forget about their rivalry and start to work togheter… …look, here, I even have some example treaties of “cooperation”, like we are usually doing them in France…”

“Well, sounds good to me Don Deity… …anything that saves Germany from the Persia aggressors might be better then going down by the hands of Cyrus the traitor… …but off course we would have to change the name of our common nation… …you know… United States of France sounds kind of weird… …we don’t even live in France…”

“ARGH… …not again…”

“What?”

“Umh… …I said… …yeah, off course we WILL do that… …in the near future… …but right now we have some more pressing matters to discuss, like the new borderline between our countries and such…”

“What do you have in mind there?”

“We keep the cities we already hold in South Germany, as a base of operation against Persia and to make sure that the Persian fleet will never be able to control the channel… …and we will keep the cities of Dortmund and Leipzig after we have liberated them from the Persians…”

“But Dortmund hasn’t been captured by the Persians so far…”

“Ups… …then my information had been wrong… …sorry about that… …anyways, now the city is under USoF control… …and we want to keep it. But we will help you to get back all losses you have suffered in North Germany, including all cities and restoring the ancient borderline with Persia… …deal?”

“Well… …I don’t have that many options, you know… …sight… …deal.”

…

And so the glorious USoF army suddenly had new orders… …instead of “conquering” Germany, now the plan was to “liberate” Germany from the Persian aggressors. And since quite some USoF soldiers were around in Germany at that point, and Cyrus had only about 20 battalions lying siege on Dortmund and stationed in Leipzig altogether, central Germany was soon cleared from the Persian intruders. And that is the final map of Germany, with the Rhine and the Lake of Constance marking the border between USoF Germany and Old Germany (red):

100.JPG

One of the important projects of the USoF army could also been seen in the picture above:

The cannons, doing great work during the Greek and German wars, now have reached their final destination… …and since the dark ages of sorcery and mysticism seemed to haven ended (there simply wasn’t any shaman or witch around in Germany… …the Germans seemed to have been VERY quick and fond in burning them right away) some USoF engineers took over and recycled the used cannons into almost new artillery thingies…

…

But Don Deity wasn’t too happy after all… …he also had a plan of sticking wings onto his cavalry and turning them into some weird and insect like airships… …maybe it would have been better to have the engineers work on that concept first, but now it was too late. USoF research was already turned down to pay the lousy engineers to do their (incredible expensive) work with the cannons.

And here is an overview over the battlefields to come, namely the Persian Empire, with 15 cities and the production turned on warmode since some time now the biggest and strongest enemy the USoF forces had to face so far (and with equal technology by the way):

101.JPG

The red circles mark the position of Cyrus invasion army in North German, with the cities of Bremen and Ishtakar under heavy siege… …and very likely falling within the next days. The former German city of Zohak was already under Persian control.

…

But General Supersnaat already had a plan, not exactly a plan to help the Germans get back their northern cities, but at least a plan where and how to advance into Persian lands:

102.JPG

But it was again a very difficult mission, because the landside for a direct attack on Persia was extremely bad. Not only was the path blocked by three extremely high (and extremely impassable) mountain ranges, even worse was the fact that the only way into the Persian heartland seemed to lead through a huge dessert… …and all roads had already been blown away by the retreating Persian forces, leaving only dusty trails for the USoF (and German) army… …”Operation Desert Breeze” was born…

…

But “Operation Desert Breeze” arouse a worldwide discussion… …mainly based on the fact, that most of the other nations seemed to be unable to understand the absolute need of this operation… …to bring Pacifism, joy and livelong happiness to the Persian people.

…

And so it came, that China and Mongolia, soon followed by the Zulu nation, all shut down their embassies in all USoF countries (and Germany) to show their protest against the so called “USoF (and German) aggression”… …Mali, the only free country still on more or less friendly terms with the USoF (and Germany) would also soon join this embargo, forced into it by the Chinese nation… …the years of (more or less) peaceful trade and open borders had ended as abruptly as it had started, and now Don Deity’s world was sliding more and more into a state of worldwide tension and fear.

...

The Mongolian’s, lately started even calling themselves the “world’s police” and the so called “Democratic Defenders of the Free Nations” and were gathering their allies and forming an alliance to counter the USoF (and German) block… …the MATO, the Mongolian alliance treaty organisation… …and the MATO soon would be starting to block all USoF (and German) overseas trade… …forcing the USoF (and Germany) back into Mercantilism and even preventing all exchange of knowledge and science (no more techtrading, because everybody was now pretty pissed with Don Deity…), thus starting the area of the so called “Cold Tension”, where the MATO and the USoF (and Germany) should now be deadlocked in an arms-race and a desperate struggle for power for the next decades…

Good work!!! :salute:

now... do I smell :nuke:'s???

given the current state of "Cold Tension" between the USoF(and Germany...and hopefully soon Persia) and the MATO (*) it would be best to have some :nuke:'s around.... just in case :mischief:

(*) did you know that "mato" is the ...errr..."konjugiert" ... way in spahish to say "I kill"?

wow, another great update! cant wait to see how the war with Persia turns out, and the race with MATO turns out. Keep it up!

Estoy ya trabachando...:)

=I´m already working... ...on the persian war chapter (or at least on PART 1 of it, because they almost as evil as DD Persian leader Cyrus managed to overtake the USoF in tech and now DD is facing Inf again:mad:). I think I might be able to start the next series of updates this week:D

Very nice. You're in a war with a former ally and about tofight a trans continental war against someone with a large stack. Your plan must be to use the German army to bleed the Persian before Supersnaat mops them up.

War with Persia, Part 1: Operation “Desert Breeze”:

...

Immediately after General Supersnaat had communicated his plans with Don Deity and had received a “go”, he set his army to march again. He received some complains from Bismarck about some “agreement” with Don Deity that some USoF troops should be sent towards north Germany to help the German army there to hold off Cyrus, but he simply decided to ignore them.

And so the long march through the Persian desert started… …and everything was going surprisingly well:
No Persian troops were spotted, no enemy ambushes occurred. Despite the fact that this should be good news, General Supersnaat started to feel an inner tension… …something was wrong here… …VERY wrong. And his fears should turn out to be true:

Immediately when the UsOF army was approaching the River of Susa and preparing to cross it, suddenly Persian troops were popping out off thin air everywhere. The USoF forces took heavy damage from excessive Persian Cannon bombardment, only the new and shiny Persian Artillery was able to defend General Supersnaat´s main army in the end.

But the same artillery was also a key factor in the battle for Susa, since the Persian and the UsOF army was almost equal in numbers:
About 30 USoF battalions faced about 20 battalions of Persian defenders. But although the Persian forces tried hard to push the USoF forces back from the River of Susa, the never succeeded, thanks to the USoF artillery.

And the USoF artillery also should play a decisive role in the siege of Susa which started already the same day the USoF army controlled both sides of the River of Susa. The defences of Susa never stood a chance to withstand the furry the USoF artillery unleashed on them and crumbled to dust pretty soon, mingling with the desert that surrounded them.

So General Supersnaat decided to use his new “elite” force of artillery also to start the storm on Susa and sent them right in to face the Persian forces. Apparently frightened by the incredible firepower of this new USoF weaponry, the Persian forces, despite being equal in numbers, failed to put up a proper resistance, and most all the USoF artillery battalions were victorious.

Bad only that the number of USoF artillery battalions was extremely limited, only 4 battalions were able to participate in the initial attack (there were altogether 7 battalions of artillery, but the rest was healing due to the Persian ambushes earlier)

…

And here things started to go down, with General Supersnaat making his first major mistake:

Instead off delaying the final storm on Susa and repairing the damaged artillery, he decided to rush in right away (he apparently likes rushing in, no matter when and where, and seems pretty immune to learning anything concerning this topic:D), with the rest of the UsOF forces. His plan was easy, since most of the Persian defenders were weakened by the USoF artillery already, he deemed the chances of a quick victory pretty high… …too bad that most of the USoF army (except of the artillery, which is immune to collateral damage) was also wounded due to the Persian ambushes.

And so it came that the initial plan of General Supersnaat, to quickly conquer Susa, failed completely and the battle of Susa raged on for almost two weeks (= 2 turns), with heavy losses on both sides:

103.JPG

When the dust settled, it became obvious that General Supersnaat had succeeded in conquering Susa, but the price had been extremely high:

About 1/3 of his main army had died in this attack, and to make things worse, it turned out not much later that there were lots of USoF elite cavalry among the dead… …but at that point, General Supersnaat still was in a considerably good mood, despite the losses, because he deemed himself victorious and thought the Persian spirit of fighting back would be broken now… …and immediately ordered a part of the USoF army to advance towards Bactra, the southernmost Persian city.

But his mood should changed immediately the next day, when some Persian scouts brought in some VERY bad news… …two battalions of Persian infantry were approaching Susa!!!

Cyrus now had a maybe decisive technological advantage over the USoF army, and General Supersnaat´s memory of what happened the last time, he tried to attack an army based of infantry with the units the USoF could field, was still pretty fresh…
