Don Deity: Warlords 2.08, huge random continents map, epic speed

Awesome update, I just wish I could play the saves. :(

Hows the treasury coming along? I noticed DD (or was it the General?) mentioned once infantry is available to you, you won't be able to upgrade all of your units, at least at once. Would you consider dropping research to 0%, and relying on your vassals for techs so you can upgrade?

Very nice! Some good ol'kamikaze! :P

Though a small question: Why are you researching flight?
I'm obviously missing something, but if the screenshot is right after you got assembly line, and thus you already 'have' infantry, I personally would go towards Industrialism. Or is there a prequist I forgot?

@ AmericanEagle24:

Once Cyrus is willing to sue for peace, DD would take it and simply build a new army during the peace time. This is cheaper then upgrading. I only would upgrade to infs in case of an emergency (or a war running).

...

@ Nictel:

You are right about the research... ...but the solution is quite simple... ...I had forgotten to take the screenshot with Ecbat... captured in time, the one you see is from some turns later (where I stopped playing in the end). I will post the actual save with the next storypost btw. so you can have a closer look, how things are going

Taking Arbela should persuade Cyrus to make peace, even if he retakes it. He either demands it back in peace or sends an army and loses a good portion of it. That coupled with the losses in the garrison to start with ought to alter the power ratio sufficiently to bring Cyrus to the negotiating table.

Then airports, fighters,, infantry and the air campaign and new ground offensive against Persia.

Your stories are great snaaty. You're an excellent Civ player, and your writing style and the way you tell the stories is very enjoyable and funny.

You're almost at the one-year anniversary, Snaaty. Going to have some cake? :)

War with Persia, Part 3: The Arbela incident

…

What was planned to be a bloody disaster turned out to be… …well… …a bloody disaster. The advance on Arbela started as planned, but already after a march of two days (two turns), General Supersnaat was facing heavy resistance… …and, to make things even worse, Cyrus somehow has managed to copy the patent to make artillery and the losses for the USoF army were very high, extremely high.

But finally, after another two days (two turns) of bombarding Arbela day and night, there came good news form France… …the concept of infantry was finally known to the USoF scientists and new weapons were delivered to the frontline near Arbela immediately. And, with some elite soldiers equipped with the new weaponry, General Suersnaat deemed the chances high enough to storm the city… …and, surprise, surprise again the losses were giganormous…

Still, the operation Arbela was considered a great success by the USoF high command (=General Supersnaat and Don Deity), because human losses and sacrifices were things that didn’t really concern them… …Don Deity being and immortal deity and General Supersaat being… …well… …an ignorant and cruel idiot…

But then, it turned out that Cyrus had his own plans… …Arbela was another Persian trap… …and with the newly acquired concept of building artillery (I didn’t pay enough attention here I must confess) Cyrus once again had lured General Supersnaat into a death-trap, catching most of the USoF soldiers wounded and unprepared after the battle for Arbela, killing more then 10 USoF battalions in his initial counter-strike. Although the USoF army was finally able to repel the Persian attacks, their hopes went down drastically, when two new Persian armies were sighted, one containing 5 battalions of infantry, 1 battalion of artillery and 3 battalions of cavalry, the other (not visble in this screen, but stationed 77 form Arbela, hidden behind the hill with the windmill) contained 9 battalions of artillery and 3 battalions of infantry… …although Don Deity deemed this to be the last reserves Cyrus had, quickly upgraded and sent in directly from Persepolis, the Persian capital, there was no way the USoF army could withstand this Persian assault with the 11 remaining USoF battalions near Arbela…

Ant to make things worse, not even with all the reinforcements and border-patrol troops stationed still in France was there a chance that the USoF army could cope with these excessive losses, even IF Don Deity would be able to ship them to the front in time (which, in fact he couldn’t…), it became more and more obvious that the USoF army would be extinguished soon, only a tiny notch away from victory… …what a shame… …first time in history ever that the glorious USoF army was forced to retreat by an enemy… …a concept so far completely unknown to Don Deity…

But having another look at the information the USoF secret service had gathered around Arbela didn’t help… …Don Deity had to face the hard facts… …Cyrus was about to turn the tide in this war, only a peace treaty would save the small band that was left of the USoF army near Central Persia (not that Don Deity really cared about the men, but he liked his army in general, because a big army simply meant big power… …and that he liked big times):

The hidden Persian army is marked with the red cross…

…

And so another USoF messenger was sent towards Persepolis, in the hopes that at least the plan, to force Cyrus into negotiations had worked, at the cost of the USoF army… …and it DID, Cyrus was finally willing to grant Don Deity an audience, apparently completely unaware about the sorry state the USoF army was in:

To Don Deity´s big surprise, Cyrus not only was willing to pay 500 gold immediately and another 13 gold each month for a year (=ten turns), he even was willing to hand over all his maps and the command of the city of Bremen… …which meant that Cyrus really hadn’t burned it down… …although now it would have been better for him if he would have…

It was pretty obvious that Don Deity couldn’t refuse this offer… …and, despite his agreement with Germany, he spontaneously decided to keep the city of Bremen, just for a while off course, to make sure it was save from all evil Persian influence…

…

I’m happy for any feedback, suggestions, tips and hints concerning this game...

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you want to play along or ahead feel free to pick any save you like. Only thing you REALLY should do is to use spoiler tags for anything AHEAD of the actual story.

Haha that Cyrus, I hope he doesn't wonder why the amount of USoF 'peace-keepers' on his continent increase rapidly in the next few turns. Or the fact that he'll probably be woken up by a dozen Bombers above his cities. ;)

Now it's a race to bombers and tanks, and then it's clobbering time. Now that the Persian Adventure is over, what's the state of the USoF? Especially, economy/research, and the "integration" of vassals and the lands "freed" from Alex/Bren/Asoka/Bismarck/Darius and any other victims I may have forgotten?

it looks that the silver plate plan worked after all

What are you planning to do from now on? persia is not happy with you and still in war with the germans ( AFAIK ). And there is MATO ;) .Are you going to refill your ranks and push against Cyrus in a near future?

@ All:

Fist, thanks for your support so far...

...

The war wit Persia is won now that stupid Cyrus spoiled his chances of recapturing his cities by making peace:D

As I see it, DD has two options now (after finishing Cyrus):

An easy and lazy backdoor domination victory, by invading the small Chineese/Mali conti, which should be rel. easy

Or, he could try to go the full distance and take on the MATO after finishing Cyrus... ...this would very likely result in an extremely huge and timeconsuming endgame-war with an open end (no idea if I can wrestle down an aggressive deity AI with heaps of cities and vassals/allies on a huge map... ...very likely Kublai will have then about 500 units:lol:)

...

It´s up to you again, you can vote now, because depending on the outcome of this vote, I have to start building troops/units/marine... ...NOW, if I want to have at least a small chance to make a stand against Kublai:crazyeye:

...

Vote now for:

Option 1:
Backdoor domination victory

Option 2:
Big slaughter with Kublai

...

My vote goes for 2, because I invested quite some time in this game and story so far, so I would like to end it with a big bang (and rather risk loosing it then going for a backdoor dom.victory...)

2. Prepare the missile silos!

I'm also interested how good the AI is at launching a huge ambitious assault on this level.

2. Live large...

Well, okay, I vote for option 2 if that's what you want.

What an entertaining read it has been, congrats again.
