Very powerful one: playing Civ5

dont need steam for that. ;)

Other powerful ones:
The will of GabeN
The ability to play pdox games
The ability to play tf2
the ability to easily coordinate games with one another

dont need steam for those either. besides, i despise multiplayer with all of my hate.

You objectively do need Steam to play Civilization V, TF2, and most new Paradox games legally.

The reason I have Steam is because I couldn't install my hard-copy Civ5 without a Steam account.

I would sing Steam more praises except the store page is the ugliest mess I have ever seen right now. It is really that hard to make the store page not a mess?

I would like Steam better if it hadn't been foisted upon the Civ community. Yes, I did buy Civ 5, and I'd like those $60 back.

It is hard to have sympathy for people who pay full price for a game in an era of Steam sales.

By the time I bought Civ5 I didn't even know Steam was a thing, and I would have been happy if could have installed my copy without having a Steam account, but whatever. I really didn't need those games I bought, even though I actually enjoyed them, so I guess it was worth it.

I got hit by the brick wall of Steam-as-DRM in 09 by Empire and its horrid launch. Then a couple years later I got Warband and All Was Good.

But yeah ya'll are all steambabies to me.

Really, though. I have no idea what's on sale. There needs to be a special window for 75% off games which are on my wishlist or n+ friends have.

Steam had terrible customer support a while ago, but I don't know if they've fixed that

I've had pretty good experiences with their customer support so I guess? Certainly better than EA.

An inebriated chimpanzee with a typewriter would do a better job at customer support than EA.

As with AA it was Empire in 09 that got me onto the Steam. Of course at the time I considered it to be the worst thing ever of ever as I just wanted to play my game and it wanted to download updates and nonsense
