Double Your Pleasure

There are already too many mice with wheels around my place ...

.. maybe I could ask some of the elephants on bicycles to catch them..:crazyeye:

I was comparing the civlopedia to the mod.bic file and started writing down some errors/discrepencies. When I got to the different governments I gave up.

The civlopedia gives the wrong stats on several governments for how much military police they can have and draft rate. Communism has paid labor? That's what the mod file says. Need an entry for Chiefdom. Is social democracy's corruption communal or minimal? Need to change hurry method for anarchy to None.

Before I got to governments I was just finding little errors, like:
Armies only need 3 cities, not 4.
Need to add pigs on the list of bonus resources and how much food/shields/commerce it adds.
Delete Marble (unless that will be added in an upcoming patch).
Hurry Production - Need to change this to reflect caravans are no longer used for this purpose.
Olive Oil - Civlopedia says 0 food, 1 shield, 1 commerce, but mod says 1/0/1.

I'm sure there are more, but I thought I heard you guys will be releasing a new version pretty soon with a lot more techs/resources, so I'll wait until then.

the civilopedia is a bit .... ehrm ... outdated - we are working on it - things should improve in the next version
sorry :)

Thanks Bamspeedy - I had forgotten about the Manhattan Project - had completed the Atomics Test SW and didn't miss it when it didn't show up on the Build Queue.

In looking back at my Save Game for 1910 I had the Fission Tech and had completed The Atomics Weapons Test Small Wonder in Rome. I had uranium and should have been able to build The Manhattan Project Wonder, however, it is not listed in the City Build Queue. None of the other civ's have built or are building The Manhattan Project Wonder. The United Nations Wonder also came with Fission and is being built (shows on Build Queue).

Isak - I will send you my Save Game(s) to look at. I am also re-playing the game myself (Have just discovered Fission - 1890 and started building The Atomics Weapons Test Small Wonder) - will advise whether MP shows up once complete.

Note: I changed my BIC file for the Manhattan Project to require the Atomic Weapons Test SW rather than the Apollo Project SW. I don't think this would cause the problem, but I could be wrong!

IIRC, the Manhattan Project can ONLY be built in the city that has the required small wonder. It won't be available to be built in other cities, just the city that has the Atomic Weapons Test or Apollo Project (whichever .bic you used). I think that is what happened to me the first time I got that far in the game and the advisor told me to build the Manhattan Project and I had trouble finding where/how I could build it.

:goodjob: Right you are!! Found the city where I built the Atomic Weapons Test and low and behold  there was The Manhattan Project just waiting to be built. ;) ;) Now that you mention it I seem to recall something in the forums somewhere which discussed something similar. If I could suggest to RobO to include in the Civiopedia a note to the effect " that the Manhattan Project must be built in the same city as the required Small Wonder".

Now to build those ICBM's and finish off those remaining Civ's in a nuclear holocaust :D :D :D and move on to the next game and more conquests.

I don't udate the civilopedia, so I'd better pass this one on - persumably to Isak.

Ofc, in the next version Manhattan Project and Atomic Weapons Test have been swapped around, just to  everybody even more. The one that was a wonder is now a small and vice versa. I wish Kal-el would stop swapping names. He also swapped the bazaar and marketplace - and I think thats due in 0.9 as well. It probably didn't make it into 0.86.

Actually, I'm not sure if it was only the names of MP and AWT that were swapped, and not the effects. Yes, that's probably it. But don't worry, I'll give you a spreadsheet with all the data along with the version. After all, I need it myself in order to keep track of all the changes, so you might as well get it too ;)

And who knows, perhaps the civilopedia will be slightly more accurate. But it is in fact a lot better now than it used to be.

Are you  ?
Don't worry, just wait till the next episode.

jacostrauss, try building clan units at start (or shaman units if you're playing a religuous civ). And please note that these units only require 1 pop.

as i was playing, i reached a cultural victory as rome. then i recieved and error. i then looked for the problem and found this in the pediaicons;

Stainz, that's interesting. I distinctly remember that we corrected that bug a long time ago. I guess our configuration management is a little lacking. But then, this is a voluntary enterprise - and lots of commercial companies have similar problems.

i,m going through the civilopedia and pediaicons now, just to make sure everything links up properly.

i just might attach another fix for them (if i find anything else wrong, that is.)

Can one of you guys tell me which file controls the mouseover text on the Science Advisor screen, and if this is going to be updated for DyP - so many more advances!! Thanks.

stainz: No, I've no idea how they do these things.

lloydy: It's on our todo list. The tech blurbs are towards the end of one of the text files, don't remember which one. All of those for the new techs are missing and some of the others are no longer correct. So many things to do ...
