Double Your Pleasure

IIRC, Grasslands do produce 3 food after you get out of despotism. . . Dang. . . can't remember the names of the guv's. . .but I think Dynastism takes away the penalty. . .

If I download the 1.27 PTW patch, will there be any play issues with the current DyP or will there need to be a new patch or will it be incorporated "soon to be released new DyP ;) "? I don't want compatibility issues, so will wait to download if that is best. Thanks for any info, and thanks for the hard work!

i wantet to say it for long time already...

Chiefdom is suposed to limit growth...
But well it doesn't.
Ok, not exectly chiefdom....
The thing that really limits growth is the discovery of dynasticsm( I think, when the tribe transformed to setllers).

In chiefdom I expand exetrimly quick due to the 1 citizen tribe cost, and when I dfiscover dynasticism it is really hard to expand.
Maybe you mean - hard to build big sityes, yes really pretty hard- but to build a lot of litlle ones- no, not at all, really easy!

@Timberwolf: The problem was that most AI civ's never got beyond 1 city back when the initial settlers cost 2 pop - mainly because it was likely that initial cities wouldn't grow beyond 2 citizens. That's why we introduced Chiefdom as an opening 'break' to the AI before the slowdown sets in with Dynasticism.

@Connor: The changes in 1.27f, that affect the mod, are so small that I can't really imagine you'll experience any difficulties, except perhaps if you play multiplayer DyP. But in any case, the 'soon to be released patch  ' will be 1.27f compatible.

I bet this has already been asked, but what has happened to the timber, marble, stone, copper and flax resources?

Also, i havent played yet a game on a random map, is the resource distribution on random maps working so it will be equally cool to play?

I don't work on the mod, but from what has been mentioned elsewhere, those resources and others (such as natives) were removed for various gameplay and balance reasons. The extra resources that are still in have been balanced throughout it to make them useful and necessary at key points in the game, just like the original resources.

Having only ever played with random maps, I can say in the last few versions there haven't been any problems with their distribution. I'd highly recommend trying out random maps; it definitely adds a good bit of fun, especially with the early rush to find and control all of the various types of resources.

Mallipeep.

Pyrkaige is right.

Some of the earlier game resources have now been removed. In most cases, but not always, because the AI did not use them. So the human player had an unfair advantage.

As for random map distribution: I guess you were looking at posts a few months ago when this was a real hot topic!

Lots of tests have been done on this ( to figure out how the game handles it) - and we are getting there with the help of the developers of the game.

Just wait, very soon you will see the next release of DYP. and expect to amazed.

Is there any idea yet of a timescale for this new release? :)

Yes, the PtW version will be released this weekend if all goes well.

That is fantastic news.
Thanks for all the effort you all put into this mod. It is the best. :)

Although I am working with a personal DyP-variant I
have not posted here earlier. Thus I do not know if
this have been discussed earlier:
It does not matter much if you are setting
bombardment to 1 or 100. (On a infantry-type unit
for example and its defending) Will this fact have impact on new versions of DyP?

Rocoteh

Sure Connor, you can quote me on that. :) There have been no changes to the mod for over a week now, which is probably the most stable period in the entire history of the mod :D

@Rocoteh: I'm not sure I understand, but I assume you mean the so-called 'defensive bombardment' units. The ones that have a bombardment value, but a bombardment range of 0 meaning that they get to fire off a shot before an attack.

In that case, it's true that the effect is minimal, but the units have been improved in regular attack values to compensate for it. We had to remove the ranged capability, as the AI wasn't building any artillery units as a result of it.

Though, if you keep in mind that the effect is minimal, there should still be much greater chance that a 100 Bombardment unit hits it's target, than a 1 bombardment unit does.

Will there be a world map with all the resources with the mod?? The one on your web site is out dated and has no extra resources on it.

Thanks

Yes, there should be a World map included.

And welcome to this website, as it is your first post.

I would love for you to also fix the colors..Like give each race the same alternate and default colors so I do not have to do it... Arabs black and Zulu dark brown...

Thanks

Not saying that you don't have a legitimate concern here, because you do, but that is so far down on the list of things to do that I'm not even sure it'll be done.

As part of the beta tester team (although it's been a while since I've played. (But I do have a monarch game I'm playing! Please don't fire me! :D)) there is a lot going on behind the scenes that the normal everyday user such as your self doesn't see. There are a lot tweaks and changes going on, and it is a very complex issue.

Frustrating, I know, but there are other things that have been deemed more important to get the release out.

And I do know that Kal-El, RobO and Isak would be more than happy to fix this. It just might take a while for them to get to it. They have been very responsive to the demands/wishes of the DyP community.
