Double Your Pleasure

Dyp 2.0 is a follow-up to 1.50x. Rise and Rule is completely different :)

What's plans for "Rise of Rules" ? A DyP x 1000 ?

The quick answer to that is here :)

With a bit of good fortune, DYP 2.0 will be out before C3C in the UK. :D

... sorry, didn't mean to rub it in .. that badly ;)

Update on DYP 1.50 conversion attempt for Conquest. Did a clean install of the game, so now instead of giving an error in DrWatson when I attempt to enter a city, it just drops to desktop. At least it's faster and less annoying while I attempt to see what's causing the issue.

The new civilopedia, pediaicon, script and labels.txt files seem to be working fine. I imported all the governments, techs, and resources, keeping the new terrain. I adapted worker functions and a few other odds and ends. After doing all this, I imported the units and bldgs and proceeded to just delete almost every unit/bldg not used by the first few techs. To my surprise, the game came up and I was able to get into the city screen fine.

Next I re-imported all the units, and found out none of them are currently causing issues. Then I imported the full bldgs, which showed the drop to desktop I've been fighting. After deleting from the bottom to the top, testing every 10 or so improvements, I finally got to a point where it worked past the city screen.

Turns out the first major issue I seem to have, surrounds the improvements that are Government tied. I also checked to see if it was a graphic issue, and it doesn't appear to be as my initial test had me delete to just before coastal fortress, which in turn deleted the government keyed collective farm. My third or forth test just deleted up to district courthouse, and then delete the three government keyed techs after.. basically it has something to do with those type/three techs.

At this point I'm about to fall asleep and can't see quite straight, though I have tried deleting two of the three, and have been playing with the attributes of the third with no luck at this time to pinpoint why'd it is causing this issue.

Here's hoping it can be solved.

Cheers

For those who still 'only' have Vanilla Civ3, we have just released an update.

Get version 1.01 r from the DYP website

Be sure to read the news item there for information on what the future holds in store for the Vanilla Civ3 version of DYP. It's not much, but it's not completely bad either.... I hope :)

@WhteDrgn: I hope to get a chance to test compatibility this coming week. Thanks for all your help so far, please make sure to catch some sleep too. It's probably not really worthwhile doing too much to make the PtW version compatible, as it will most likely not be able to take advantage of many of the new features in C3C, so a user might as well load it in PtW. On the other hand .. it's worth a shot. :crazyeye:

What do:
"Collective Farm"
"Corporate Offices"
"Department Store"
"Office of Internal Security"
"Shopping Mall"
and "War Monument"
have in common?

I don't bloody know, cept those were the buildings that kept causing my crash error. Actually, it was the civilopedia linking to those that caused it. If I link each to a different civilopedia, the game runs. I can even see their civilopedia entry by a different link in the game, its just some wierd bug that they all have in common that when they get read by a production queue info they blow up the game.

So now I just have a few bugs to iron out and I'll have the 1.50 for Conquests working. I can allready play it, but apparently I left a few bugs in there, including the Being <civ> features aren't working just yet. Hopefully I should have more progress by 7am.

Cheers

Except for Shopping Mall. The Government attribute was my first guess as well, but when I took out all the Government attributed items, the game still crashed. After a lot of testing, I found out exactly which buildings were causing it. And one of them, wasn't a Government attributed.

I also tested the failure by changing so that one of techs in question wasn't government attributed, it still crashed. I made another tech on a running game government attributed, it did not crash. Finally I found out it was related to something in the civilopedia, so I removed the description of the building from the pedia, the game still crashed. I substitued another description for the building, it still crashed. I then pointed the building to another description, in this case bldg_academy, and it played. I have also tried renaming the building description from bldg_collective_farm to bldg_collective, changed the description, and it still crashed.

Currently, I have a game up and running. Testing to see if it'll play with the temp fix of pointing all those building descriptions to bldg_academy.

Update 8:26am EST
Game went well until I came to Iron Working, then I noticed it wasn't displaying swordsmen, nor any other unit after then. Apparently I had forgotten to put all the units back in, after I had the techs, so scratch that test. Will test the game again later, I allready loaded all the units and reset the general settings and fixed an issue with Leaders (bug makes them available if you have airlift checked). A quick test load showed it did okay.

If anyone wants a copy to beta, just post or PM me. I'll see about uploading it later, unless someone from the DYP team prefers me to put it elsewhere.

Off to bed, morning all.

Cheers

First, let me thank you for creating DyP. It's adds so much more depth to CIV.
Now, for my little germ of an idea for future tweaks. When you invent Flight you get Airports. But when you invent the Railroad you get.... How about railroad depots? They could give a boost to the city's production and/ or commerce. Attendant Wonder could be Grand Central Station. A free depot in every city. Expires with Advanced aviation or at latest, Jet engine.

Is anyone aware of any issues with DyP and Win2k, SP2? I was playing along just fine, fresh installs of both PTW 1.27 and DyP 1.50x, and when I tried to contact the Chinese, (I was Tibet) the machine crashes. Tried several different turns, a couple of different ways (Right click on chinese unit, Shift-D). . . any thoughts?

Time to reward all that patience. :)

DYP 2.01x has been released. You can get it as a full install, or as a patch from version 2.00x - over at the DYP site.

Have fun, while we sink into the Rise and Rule mod :crazyeye:

@WhteDrgn: Do you have a patch?

@Turner_727: Never heard of that before, will check it out when I get some sleep. I'm running Win2k, SP3, but it's close enough to test, though I doubt OS has any real effect on a bug like this.

@FlyGuy: I like the idea, but we're a bit wary about adding more production boosters right now. :)

Isak, is it at all possible to just post the update from 1.5x to 2.0x(which I have previously downloaded along with all the other updates)?

I am tearing my hair out over how long it's taking to download this things.

P.S. Does this version work for Conquests?

I tried to put in in conquests and although it loaded it had major problems. Pretty much unplayable.
