Download and Current Changelog 1.4

All this modding business is pretty new to me, and I'm not really sure what to download and not.

So if anyone could tell me, in short, what the differences between Rise of Erebus and Orbis are, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It'd probably be easier to explain what they have in common.

They're both mods based on FFH2. They both have some of the same civs and techs. If I were you, I'd try out Orbis for the now while the team release the bugfixy version of RifE, then try that.

My mother always told me celestial bodies would help me out when I was in trouble.
'Course she was legitimately insane, but her point still stands, I guess.

I got Civ IV a couple of months ago, and have missed, like, five years of modding evolution.

I mean, where I come from "Rom" refers to an mediterranian capital, a carribean spirit, fisheggs and some kind of CD thingey, and now it's suddenly a friggin' huge game mod as well. We're a simply folk, and when something means so many things we tend to get confused.

But please ignore my drunken ramblings, and know that you have helped me a great deal. I'll take your advice and stick Orbis for now.

Rise from Erebus 1.4 Beta is now available via the Public SVN branch!

Opted to stick with the 1.4 name, even though it doesn't deliver on content, for one important reason: 1.4 was never going to be called 1.4, but instead 2.0.

This is more or less a polish release; It will not contain new content (aside from what was in the SVN), but will have loads of bugfixes. I'd like to get some playtest reports back on it before I upload an installer (sometime after this weekend, as I'll be out of town).

Rev 296 is up; Fixed a small bug, removed some unneeded tags, and hit the barbarians with the nerf bat. Specifically, just those barbs spawned via lairs; Seems to have been enough. The lairs were damn near impregnable, which hurt AI expansion too much; Now they're manageable, though the AI still isn't exploring well enough (need to go through lair results, make it more likely to remove the lair the first time, IMO).

D'tesh has also been made human only. AI is simply not capable of playing that civ at all; Scions it can manage (albeit poorly) because of the free spawns, but D'tesh does not have that ability.

Wait a minute. I thought 296 was out a while ago?

If this is the past I would like to reassure everyone that although I am from the future I come in peace. I will be accepting tributes in the form of gift certificates and Microsoft points. If this is not the past, please ignore what I just said.

Sorry to have to ask, but how exactly do I attain the 1.4 version and get it to run properly?

Also were things like the War Wheel (steam monobike) added to it and other new units?

Thanks.

You don't, because it hasn't been released, and no, I don't think so, respectively.

Would it be appropriate to give feedback on the 1.4 beta in this thread, or wold another one be more appropriate?
Thanks Valkrionn for your amazing work on this apogee of fantasy strategic gaming!

Let me rephrase that where do I obtain the Beta from, and how do I install it?

And is the beta the last release or will 1.4 be released as the final update?

Follow the instructions in this thread, choose the "public" branch, and hope nothing breaks too horribly. Or just do what I'm doing, which is waiting for it to be finished and released as an actual patch.

i downloaded the 1.4 version and i copy pasted them in the mod folder with the previous patches .all fine untill here but when i start the game i get 4 errors about some missing traits ,some major status incorect file

Its been 5 weeks since they last made a change to the public svn. Really not sure why it's not an executable by now. I know they're annoying to upload but its not like the public branch is updated often

If you get an error about leaderstatus, it's likely caused by a module.

As for the delay on an executable, I'm the only one who makes them and I've been busy. Had a vacation (during which time I wasn't on my computer), and now I'm training a new employee so I haven't been on at work, which is my main time for modding.
