Thomas Logan was born to a wealthy Texas family on August 14th 1990 at 21:45 in Austin Memorial Hospital in Austin, Texas. Growing up on his family's 20,000 acre ranch was normal for a boy of his caliber. Though he always showed an uncanny liking towards dead cattle that were maimed by coyotes, hoping to lose his son's interest in this his dad bought him a rifle at age 13 under protest of his mother. The first time he fired his rifle he fired a bullet right into his foot. Fortunately they were able to save the foot, but his mother put the rifle under lock and key until he was 16. But Thomas always found ways to break into the gun cabinet and go hunting. Every morning his father would begin his rounds and every morning as he approached the barn he would see Thomas resting with his arm around the rifle and dozens of coyotes piled up nearby. And every morning his father would put the rifle back in the cabinet so his mother would not grow wise. The next few years went by in a flash until that one fateful day.
On April 12th 2007, when Thomas was 17, the family was sitting down to dinner when they heard the cattle bellowing and running around, Thomas and his father exchanged looks and grabbed their rifles when they heard a sound that chilled them to their bones. A loud long howl that sounded differently from any coyote or wolf, the family dogs began howling and baying but refusing to venture beyond the porch. So Thomas and his father grabbed some lights and headed to their trucks and worked out a patrol plan. Thomas jumped into his newly bought 2007 Dodge Ram and raced off towards the last known cattle position with his high beams on, upon reaching the position he saw 3 cattle laying down wounded and unable to get up, for the first time in his life Thomas felt repulsed by what he saw. It was so gruesome that he never spoke of it again. He put the cattle out of their misery and prepared to head back to his truck. But what he saw next chilled him to the very bone, a creature was standing next to his truck staring at him with red eyes. It looked like a dog but without hair and the longest fangs he ever saw in his life. For the first time in his life Thomas was truly terrified.
At that moment the creature ran off and his father's truck roared into place where the creature was standing just seconds ago. Thomas never moved and his father stood by his truck trying to talk to him. Finally Thomas left his stupor and noticed his father for the first time, but again he stopped short as the creature arrived, this time the creature pounced on his father and began mauling him. Thomas was terrified and his hands were trembling... but he finally registered that he needed to kill the creature before it killed his father or even Thomas himself. So with trembling hands he lifted the rifle and aimed.... he fired, he looked over at the creature. The creature's red eyes were glaring at him and Thomas heard the growl, he finally realized that he missed. The creature began crawling towards Thomas grinning. Thomas panicked but his legs refused to move, the creature got closer and closer then it began the pounce, Thomas closed his eyes and prepared for the worst. He heard a loud bang and some wet spots splattering over him. Thomas opened his eyes and looked around... he was still alive, but where was the creature?
He looked down and saw the creature writhing in pain and wondered who shot the creature... he heard a faint moan and saw his father with his rifle laid over his stomach. Thomas raced to help his father and got him onto the truck and raced to the hospital. The next hour his father was pronounced dead. Thomas enraged at himself for missing immediately joined the army right after high school. But despite the drill sergeant's personal training he could never do well with the rifles... so his drill sergeant gave him the army's new M4A1 carbine and told Thomas to fire at the dummy. The dummy was destroyed in a small burst. The drill sergeant smiled and said, "Private, that was the best accuracy I have seen with this gun!" Thomas went on to fight for America in both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, volunteering to go and fight as often as he could. He was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant, and even was awarded the Purple Heart twice and several other medals for valor and bravery under fire. He also got the Medal of Honor but he was not happy. Then the war ended and he had no other missions to serve. But in 2010 America went to war again... this time against Mexico. This war was not his kind of war, it was a border war against the immigrants. He wanted real soldiers and danger so he retired from the army despite offers to join the Army Rangers or even the Special Forces, but Thomas had enough America would not have a real war for years and he could not live with that.
So he went home to Texas where his mother in tears welcomed him home. Together they tended to the ranch with the ranch hands, but sometimes Thomas would stop and think about his life in the army and how he wished he could get back in the fight. Every day he would receive letters from his privates that were under his command, they affectionately called him Sarge because every combat situation they entered, they could always rely on him to make the correct decision and keep them alive to see their families again. Once he got a letter that had no return address or name, just his name and address, inside the letter was an invitation to join a mercenary unit that operates around the world and will give you any weapon(s) of your choice and on top of that he would be teamed with the best of the best in their fields. Below the description was a contact name and meeting place and time. Thomas pondered the offer for 15 minutes and told his mother that he would be back soon and jumped into the truck and raced to the meeting place.
He never returned home.
