Dr.NES - The DOOM Project: The Sapphire of the Sea

Ulysses:

"One cannot assume the vessel will have redundant controls or that those controls, if they exist, will be easy to locate and functioning. It is best to assume the controls on the bridge are the only set of controls available to us. Secondly it is killing innocents would violate objective 2, render any possible assistance to the ship or crew. Third the Taurus Raging Bull revolver, in the hands of a competent hunter, is able to bring down a Cape Buffalo no problem. It is a very powerful side-arm and can probably deal with most body armour rather well. Exactly what do you expect to encounter on that bridge?"

We've all heard of the DOOM corporation... their contracts are rarely conventional, easy jobs, at least according to the rumors one hears. Who knows what we'll find on that ship.

Sarge: (I decided this was more user recognized ;))

I must agree with those others who have voiced opposition with using these 'barry's' on the bridge, if the plan goes off as planned they would not even be needed. We do not expect great defenses or a great number of men on the bridge. Many of them will not even know we are there until the first flashbang goes off. By the time they regain their bearings and surroundings we will have them surrounded and subdued.

Also it is highly unlikely there will be room for a machine gun nest on the bridge, there is hardly room for one without compromising possible escape routes or ease of travel.

"I expect resistance. I expect stealth will fail. I expect a mounted machine gun in a sandbag bunker, at least two snipers, maybe an RPG. I expect that our presence will be known immediately on gaining access to the boat, if not before. I expect that the hull will be mined in order to scuttle the boat if demands aren't met, and I expect the hostages will be too.

In short, I expect the worst - that is why I'm still alive. Like I said, I don't plan on using high-explosives, but that don't mean I ain't gonna use 'em."

The mission is underway.

Any last minute posts about the strategy to be executed this turn must be posted within the next few minutes.

Once I begin posting questions about your reactions to certain situations in the update, there can be no changes to your team's overall strategy.

You have been warned. This is the 10 minute mark.

Keep in mind this is not the update itself; I'm asking for your reactions to certain events that will be in the update

Team Alpha

Upon arrival at the bridge, you feed the camera through the vents. You see that there are three individuals on the bridge, all of whom are still alive. None are armed. They aren't moving around too much; that is, not that you can see. There are no noticeable traps, bombs, or other threatening equipment on the bridge.

What are your orders?

Throw a flashbang and subdue them.

I am not on any team, does that mean I am not here, and stayed home?

Nope, it means you are free to pick what team you wanna be on. :) If you did pick one, and I missed you, I do apologize, and I will rectify the situation as soon as possible.

EDIT: I notice that Ulysses requested your presence with Echo. Is that acceptable?

Orders: Program my HUD to add my teamates as allied contacts. Follow behind the team leader and pan the surrounding area for hostiles. In a firefight secure our unit's flanks to keep any hostiles from getting the drop on us.

I apologize if some of the update seems better written than others. I started running outta juice towards the end, and if that adversely affected the update, I'm sorry.

I'm going to add images relaying exactly where each team is located at the time of the update, so you know where you are.

I'd take this time to examine your environment, question any individuals you may have met in the update, and plan the next stage of your operation.

Also, in case some of you are curious: if you refer back to the satellite images of the cruise ship, notice the positioning of the ship in each picture. Its rotating slightly in each image, relating to the fact that it is adrift. That may not be completely relevant to the mission at hand, but there are other things, in the briefing and this update, that may be...

Alright, Team Bravo, I want us to hold, secure, here. Set up what we've got in defensives. Something made that splash of blood, and I'm willing to bet my pay that it isn't friendly.

Also, If the other teams are not too busy, i'd like a status update on your various objectives. The Medbay seems secure, and holdable as a fallback point for all your teams.

@mod:
how is the Medbay layed out? (Doors, windows, beds, potential hiding places, etc.)

You take a peak around the infirmary and notice the following layout:

Spoiler :

As you can notice, there is only one entrance to the infirmary. The front is mostly an open area with some chairs and other furniture: its mostly a sitting area. There's a counter near the back of that first room, with more than enough room for several individuals to take cover behind it. There's a second room that leads to a few beds (this is where the blood is) as well as the more important medical equipment.

There are no windows in the waiting area, but there are two in the room with the beds.

Sarge:

Sarge gestured for the team to place the other two men in the corner and asked Finn to watch over them.

Looking to Birch, Sarge spoke "See what kind of state the bridge is in. Do we have the capabilities to control this ship?"

Sarge then looked to the rest of the team, "Those who want to are free to create a new team, Team Fox, to move to the lower decks and lend support if needed. I just need 1 more person to remain behind. Thanks for the support."

Sarge then turned to Captain Garry, "Captain, how many of us is on this ship is of no importance, what I need to know is, are you in control of this ship?"

Captain Garry pauses for a moment before continuing. "No. Engineering has shut down access to the ship's engines. We cannot move."
