Dragon Age.

20-30 hours into the game, which is sofar the best gaming time I've ever spent.

Morrigan

Morrigan... That selfish byotch! I hate her! I hope she dies! :aargh:

*secretly weeps*

Morrigan is hot, just the right amount of mean :mischief:

Spoiler shapeshifter :
Morrigan WILL teach it, my first play through I had a romance with her, and she wouldn't teach at 100 approval, started a new game, and asked after lothering and she liked me a tiny bit, she taught me it, I assume its a bug of some sort...

Not a bug.
If you have unlocked a specialization it is unlocked for every subsequent game you start. On your second playthrough you could become a berserker long before you meet Oghren.

Edit: By the way, it's on Zero Punctuation this week. I was hoping to see it there.

How does it run on your computers?

I am hesitant to buy because I have a Radeon X800 XT and not an X850 as the requirements state.

EDIT: I downloaded the Character Creator and there was a large rectangle of blotchiness on the left side over the character. For some reason a screen shot wouldn't work.

Finished the game (As an Elf Mage)doing all possible quests (inc. DLC ones) in slightly over 56 hours, thats some decent length but disappointedly lower than the claimed 100-120 hours of gameplay.

The game is great, probably along with KoTOR one of the best Action-RPG of this decade.

The storytelling & voice acting are particularly good, possibly equal to Baldur's Gate (which is #1).

The Game mechanics are good enough, the ability to turn off "plot helpers" adds a bit of depth, still the game mechanics are considerably more action oriented for my taste, but thats inevitable since they wanted to to target the Console market. (EDIT: If they had used the NWN2 game mechanics i think DA:O might have deposed BG as the best RPG to date)

Same goes for the graphics, good enough but not nearly as good as they could have been thanks to the limitation of console hardware.

Runs good on max settings, however there is some kind of bug degrades performance forcing me to restart the game every after playing 2-3 hours, my uneducated guess: a Memory Leak, since its fixed by a simple restart of the game.

So I updated my drivers and re-downloaded the Character Creator and took pictures with my digital camera. This is the problem.

Any ideas?

Morrigan is great however she just doesn't fit well enough into my team to prevent us all from getting killed, I hope I don't need her in my party to keep talking with her.

Alistar and the dog are however just plain awesome and can stay as long as they please :p

Done :D 78 hours of win

Godwynn - does alt tab fix that ? I had several graphics bugs. Alt tab-ing fixed that ... most of the time ... or at least temporary.

I'm considering getting it, but there is one BUT. Some said it's like KOTOR, and I'm not a big fan of the KOTOR linear story, It's like sitting on a train, going where the rails take you. So if it's like that I'll play it safe and wait for the bargain bin.

You might want to wait then. While I loved the story and played the hero for my first playthrough I do believe that for the most part it is linear. There are parts of the story that you cannot change as they advance the game to it's conclusion. That being said, you can make choices that are shades of grey or downright evil that will affect the final battle and the ending of the game. It's not always obvious if you're doing the right thing.

I myself really thought that this game was worth the full price tag. If you can wait though, do it. No sense in paying 50 bucks for a title that is going to go on sale soon. Oh and just a heads up, I think the online EA store is having a Black friday sale and selling this title for 30 bucks. That might be closer to you price point.

I'm surprised you finished so quickly. It took me over 100 hours from beginning to end. That being said, I tried to complete as many side quests as possible and really fleshed out the stories behind my main party: Alistair, Leliana and Wynne. I also played on hard, so got my ass handed to me over and over in a lot of battles.

I had a blast playing the elf mage origin and am planning on doing either an evil human warrior or rogue next.

Now I know why :(

yeah, i was pretty upset too about how things ended with morrigan , especially since she was my romance :(

they should have a DLC where you get some kind of closure with morrigan, i was not happy with how things ended

I liked the comment that elves without Tolkien are only fit for selling Rice Krispies. Sounds like its no Oblivion-killer.

I don't know if anyone cares about this. A buddy of mine showed me this article. It's mildly amusing.

Trendy Christmas gift features characters naked, kissing in homosexual
embrace

Note: An image in this story may be objectionable to some readers.

A popular role-playing combat video game featuring graphic homosexual sex between a man and an elf has hit store shelves just in time for Christmas.

"Dragon Age: Origins," released Nov. 3 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, depicts two men in various sex positions in a secret scene of homosexual seduction.

The game is by BioWare, makers of "Mass Effect," "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" and "Baldur's Gate." It has a "Mature" rating.

In one video clip posted online, a player selects the role-playing option, "I want to discuss something personal."

During a fireside chat, the player's Grey Warden character asks warrior elf Zevran, "Can you join me in my tent?"

The elf reveals he specializes in assassination, and the other character replies, "I bet you're good at a lot of things."

The elf responds, "Mmmm, that's quite an offer, especially coming from another man \u2013 if we are both speaking of the same thing."

If the player selects the response, "I suspect we are," the elf agrees
to have homosexual sex with the character.

The video cuts to a scene in which the two men are dirty, naked and
kissing. They are depicted in various homosexual sex positions, and
the clip concludes with the two nestling together and gazing into one
another's eyes.

According to an Amazon description, the game also features moral dilemmas "offering no easy choices," where characters must "decide how to handle complex issues like murder, genocide, betrayal and the possession and sacrificing of children."

In another YouTube clip of a role-playing scene, a young boy possessed by a demon declares, "You'll never win! You'll never take him! He's mine!"

The child is slain, and a female demon with horns and a tail emerges from his corpse.

The game is now available at many retailers' locations and websites, including Wal-Mart's online store, Target stores, Best Buy, Amazon and eBay.

Homosexual blogs are praising the game producers for including the sex scene.

"Gay geeks rejoice, all your gaming fantasies have come true," one blog declares.

A YouTube video of the affair has garnered more than 100,000 hits and many overt comments, including the following:

* Brilliant. Just brilliant!

* Brokeback Mountain?

* I'm happy about this. Homophobes are losers.

* You see the thing is, it's optional. So your little homophobic player can have straight sex, lesbian sex or quite frankly you could just skip the sex in general. The game is intended to appeal to a large number of players. Not all of them will be straight.

* We're a bisexual nation living in denial, all because of a bunch of nerds \u2013 a bunch of nerds who got off a boat in the 15th century and decided that sex was something to be ashamed of. All the Pilgrims did was ruin the American Indian orgy of freedom.

* I wish you could have sex with the dog.

I wish you could have sex with the old lady not with the dog. :D

Maybe if the dog was a collie, I have standards you know

Well, sign me up for playing this game. Was thinking of buying it for the PC for awhile, and over Thanksgiving my oldest showed it to me on the XBOX and it looked fun.

So I ran down to the store and picked it up the other day. Spent the entire first night just trying to figure out how to install my free DLC that came with the game (blooddragon armor and the stone prisoner).

Never could get the automatic download content feature from the in game tab to work. It would download the content to 100% but never install it. I eventually found a thread about the DLC problems on thier support forum, which contained a link to the actual zip files with the content. Do I just downloaded the ones I had redeemed a code for, changed the extension to *.dazip, and manually started the DLC install program in the dragon age directory. Worked like a charm and after that the DLC showed as 'installed' on the manage DLC tab in game.

I currently have only just completed the human noble background, and am at the point of taking the grey wardens test into the forest.

So far I am greatly impressed by this games production and voice acting. I have a Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU w/ a Geforce 8800 GTS 512 meg video card and am running the game at 1280x1040 with everything on high and its running pretty well and looks great. The only real hiccup was the downloadable content issue, which I did find a work around for.

The other thing I have questions about is how are people choosing their skills/talents per se. I am going to go straight sword and board with my first toon (human warrior), and so putting points into the base warrior skill set and the shield set. Have read different opinions on how well using 2 handers is as well as dual weapons. Not sure about the other talents either, like trapping, herbology etc.

Also, a question about stats. So far have really only pumped str and con as you would traditionally in a sword and board warrior. But I have read will is the stat that also increases your stamina and lets you keep sustained skills going and to make special attacks. Anyone that can give insight on how beneficial certain stat increases help your toon would be a big help.

Bottom line, this is a game that certainly meets the hype surrounding it. Looks to have some good replay value as well given the wide variety of the background stories. I look forward to playing it through again with a dwarf common rogue, Dwalish Elf Ranger, and commoner human mage.
