@ david - i planing quite ambitious project and working wit hit now, but it may "deviate" from building plan you proposed. So far its minor deviations , and i think they are for good. I also tinting some of them (lets say red pagoda of taoism is now violet purple gray for zensufism.

Also it is involving major filesystem hierarchy ordering, and i hope i will not mess things. If you have somethign to add, pls do, because things are in oven now. So far i plan to abandon Buddhism building for Techno i found building which is much more proper. And more different stuff.
Also i wanted to ask how you do photo of building for icon? Any tips of best way of doing it? Civilopedia photo? Is there any way to do such photos n nifwiever?

Also i didnt recieved any coment for http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=8616478&postcount=845 this post except from Deliverator. Also if you have good picture for unload/load to transport buttons that will be great.

I am not sure what you mean by major filesystem modification. If you add a number of directories to assets/art/buildings, that is no problem; please keep assets/xml/art/civ4artdefines_building.xml up to date and send that file also.

Those are the two methods I use. I have no real skill as an artist and I feel my results are poor using either one. One thing I always do is look at the icon at 50% next to other vanilla icons. Usually I make the contrast a lot higher so it does not turn muddy.

I missed your previous post in the flood. I am not sure what actions those buttons are supposed to represent. On one hand, some of the vanilla graphics are obviously wrong, such as showing a ship for load/unload. On the other hand, there is no reason to go replacing all the buttons, such as "delete unit". It is helpful to keep some things the same so that people will still recognize them. Please do not overlook the "airlift" button that you get when you build a spaceport; it shows a cargo helicopter. Instead it should show a heavy carryall. Also the various hornet air mission buttons can be replaced with some of our hornet graphics.

Though by edit, but i added some 2 icons to my post. You didnt commented them. those i pla for load to transport/cargo and opposite. They are attached in my previous post.

I going to change alot, because alot needs to be changed. And , as result, i have some Afterwold/My style icons. So leaving old ones will not help to consistence. Go to/movement button will be in Afterworld style, retinted, so its already not keeping with vanilla style.
 
You have sent many posts, I am sorry I have not commented on each one. Please go ahead with the buttons you like. I am sure they will be great. Everybody really likes your promotion buttons.

Because its quite big it will need some rechecking/testing and xml QC :P
 
For making buttons out of buildings you can take screenshots in NifSkope and then find/make a suitable background for them. The process I'd use would be quite similar to the process for making unit icons I posted a while ago.

Edit: I like the load and unload buttons.

None of the previous action buttons you posted (the ones from Afterworld, etc) particularly suit Dune Wars to my mind.

well, i will dig Nifviewer, since i assembling all graphics using CorelDRAW X4.
and then just passing them to Photopaint / Paint.NET
 
For buildings - i think Imperial building can be something of Aztec style piramids, retextured with more gold tints.

Not sure about this. I think everyone will just look at these and think "that is a reskinned Aztec temple". I'm not sure it will look much like an Imperial palace. It may do as a better placeholder than we have no though. Ultimately, something with a more unique Dunish architectural style would be best.

I can look at doing building models, but personally I think since building art is far less obvious than unit art it is better to focus on the latter first.

There are alot of links i posted, and buildings there look different from vanilla. Much better. I plan on using those ones. But there are alot of awesome buildings we can modify/reskin.

Also because buildings are less priority we are ok to refab old vanilla temples. There nothing bad with it if its get retexturized. Pale Pink / Gray taoist pagoda looks quite good for Zensufi.

The ongoing succession game prompted me to make something new for the Mahdi Zealot. It's just a reskinned Fedaykin but I've tried to make it distinctive.

I've put this in a little patch so that those involved in the succession game can install it over 1.6.3. It won't break save games.

Now that we have a great new Mahdi Zealot unit, the previous unit art with the hooded, bearded guy becomes available. Could somebody reskin him so he looks like the Qizarate religious icon we have? That is a big white stripe around the shoulders.

Then I can move him to be the Qizarate missionary, which frees up the current Qizarate missionary who is a woman with a staff. I can use that woman for something in the area of a Bene Gesserit UU. I will move the units around anyway, but if a new skin shows up, that will be great.

I can rustle up something. I think something without a golden pot would be good. When are you thinking of releasing 1.6.4?
 
Here's a Qizarate Priest in the style of the Children of Dune ones. I found a nice staff for him in FFH2. The unit button is within the RAR - it should be copied to buttons/units folder.
