Japanese gaming site 4Gamer.net has posted a movie of Civilization III: Play the World, which was taken at E3.
The movie is 4 minutes 23 seconds long and is in ASF format. The file size is 17.2 MB. It contains very interesting information such as new leader faces (ex. a turbaned and bearded leader), new special unit animations, demonstration of "turnless" and regicide mode, dinosaur walking on the winter terrain, and ruins of cities.

Get the movie here: http://www.civfanatics.com/index.shtml

Looks groovy. Turnless mode looks a little fluid for my taste, but otherwise it's got some meat to it...

Looks really good...and to think, I thought the expansion pack would be really crappy...now with the dinosaurs, winter terrain, turnless mode, multiplayer...I don't how I'll get to sleep for the first MONTH! ;)

Can't wait...looks very exciting!

Did you hear the remark about including the best user-created scenarios on the PTW disc? How's that for a challenge to all you scenario-makers who've been desperate for a fully functional editor? I guess you can usefully spend the next month planning scenarios and units!

I think the dino was only a demo...I don't know that he said ti was actually going to be included (unless it has been said elsewhere...I remember hearing something about a dino before).

The thing that interested me was what the demo guy said right at the end of the video: "include the best of the web on the disc".
Are they just grabbing stuff or are they asking permission? Just curious if we will see some guys/girls from CFC/Poly on the disc. :)
Hopefully the makers will get credit...

D'oh Ian beat me to it above. :D

Also, I like the way turnless will work, looks pretty damn sweet. I feel like I might get my monies worth.

In the beginning of the movie there's a new leader with a turban. I wonder if that's the Turks or the Arabs?

Things I learned in this movie:
*you can switch the leaders customes on fly, in the same screen we pick the civs we want to play. The customes you pick depend on the era.

*dinosaurs as a unit?

*when you destroy a civ, an animation shows a unit representing that civs leader dying. Then the city's ruins remain instead of disappearing.

*the leader of your civ is movable. Also, you can edit his looks too.

Overall, I can't wait:goodjob:

I think the two things about leaders apply to regicide multiplayer...

i´m a bit disappointed. i thought the berserk would attacking in a more brutal way.

I'm so excited....now I'm gonna cry
*extaticly jumping up and down*

well - this looks like mighty good fun to me.

thought the berserker looked a bit silly...and Genghis....has a dental appointment

now - let's get adsl or something...and stay up all night when this is released....and miss work....and fail our exams....gotta love civ3 :)

Oh no...the dinosaur creamed my elite modern armour

oh man that dinosaur looks cool!
i already see it:spearmen vs dino
goodby spearmen!

Guy riding on T-rex with missle launcher=see ya invincible spearman!!!:D

the ruler in regicide is MOVEABLE!!! :yeah:Hurrah!:yeah:Hurrah!:yeah: Hurrah! My biggest fear was the ruler was going to be immobile and inother words, kinda dumb. With it being mobile, investigate city becomes more effective(learning leader location), surrounding cities becomes more important, and keeping good escape roots becomes very imortportant! The ruler should have very high movement tho, at least 3, or course, maybe 4. He should be able to out run most units. Kinda makes me wish october was here already.... but I'll take the 3 months off of school, warm weather and time at the lake instead, and just wait out the next 5 months......

The demo guy is Jeff Morris, I think. :p

They always ask for permissions before posting player-created stuff to Civ3.com, so I wouldn't worry about that. Speed Bump has asked me several times for poster contact emails. :)

Has anyone managed to freeze the pictures of the civilization choosing screen and zoom in? Would you actually see anything?

The strange thing was that 8 or 9 of the civs had very long names: does this mean that the civs haven't been properly decided?

I think those are "links" to different faces for Isabella and some other new leaders. They are there for demo purpose only.

Was moving pretty fast, I'm used to having time to make decisions. This could add a whole new dimension to gameplay.
But on the other hand he just set those units to explore, The worker would still take time to get things done so maybe it'll be ok.

Excuse me, but dinosaurs were extinct before humans existed, so how can they be units?:borg:

i really dig the "ruins" feature... but does it appear just for the last city of a conquered civ, or for every destroyed city? if it's the latter, the map could get messy with some players i know :)

has anyone heard whether or not radar towers, outposts and airfields can be built on mountains?

The leaderfaces they were clicking on were the ancient and medieval for the mongols, and the modern and ancient for the spanish. I believe this because the name that they click on is very long and one resembels "mongol Ancient".

I believe that is the Turk leaderhead, but thats just what i think, he looks like the dad of one of my Turkish friends :)

Still though, they have not said anything about a minimap in the editor, so the scenarios might still be really hard to design. But other than that it looks good.
