E3 2002: Play the World Movie!

I thought I read somewhere that dinosaur units were just going to be a possible scenario, like the medieval Japanese scenario, with special units and rules. I can't imagine that they'd be silly enough to include them as a regular part of the game!

BTW, in case the game designers are lurking out there.... I'd like an American Civil War scenario and a WWII scenario. The Punic Wars might be cool too!

The dinosaurs are included in the movie, so they'll probably be in.

BTW, I wonder what dinosaur cities will be like?

dino cities:jurrasic park1,2&3:D
but it would be very strange to have dinos as a regular unit.
and a new tech instead of horse riding:dino riding:)

...a German unification scenario, a ww1 scenario and a Peloponnesian War scenario would also be good

Are you people braindead? Dinos as units? What were you thinking? They're most definitely going to be in a scenario like in the Fantastic Worlds xp where the dinos had they're own scenario. A dino fighting a pikemen? What were you morons smoking?

Excuse me, but dinosaurs were extinct before humans existed, so how can they be units?
i already see it:spearmen vs dino
Oh no...the dinosaur creamed my elite modern armour

I'm tellin' ya...if they make Mothra leader of the dinosaur civ, I'll never play this game again!
I mean...Mothra?

Dinosaurs, huh?
Not very 'PC' of them, what with all those Wolly Mammoths not being represented. How about some sabre toothed tigers?

What in the world are they thinking??
Heh.

Dinosaur is not a regular unit. Firaxis is not that stupid.

The dinosaur unit is from one of those unit packs that will be in Play the World.

Dude...pick up a dictionary, look up 'joke'...no one expected it to be dino v pikemen, it was a comment on the invincible spearman

Dinosaurs indeed!...oh man...***sighs, then shakes head***what, is this some fantasy game or something? I mean-DINOSAURS!

I can seriously almost imagine those cutely portrayed creatures lumbering around in an almost dreamlike fashion.....

Whats that rocket launching thing I saw?

I only see one moron here. The others were asking valid questions and should not be ridiculed for it.

On ruins: The demo guy said "you can see ruins left behind from the cities, that's a new map feature".
The English lost only one of their two cities and that city was the capital. Elsewhereo n that same map there was another ruin, but I am not sure if that was a capital or a normal city. I hope every city leaves behind ruins when you raze it.

On leaders and choosing their garb:
One of the reporters asked, when the demo guy was showing off the different looks for the new leaders, "So it's really two civilizations ....{unitelligeble}". The demo guy responded with "well we tricked this up so we could...{cut to new scene}". Basically saying that they modified the program so they could show off 2 of the new civs in all of the periods and that it won't be like that for the final release (you will only be able to choose Genghis Khan, not Genghis Khan Modern Age or Ancient.

I would help you but you are the worst!! In response to his bad talking Trillian. ;)
Opening it in Windows Media Player should work. You *might* need the DivX codec, www.divx.com .

What will happen to the ruins of a razed city if you choose to build another on top...or will that be impossible...
or perhaps...you could see the ruins of the old city in the city view of your new one....as part of the new city....

I would guess that it is possible to build on ruins....it is something that we humans have been doing for years....just a guess, but a logical one.

For the ruins I would say that you should be prevented from building anything on top of them except for roads. And that they should give minimal food/shield at all, though high commerce though (representing the tourist attraction of the ruins). Even better would to make older ruins or ruins from eliminated civs give a bigger bonus. Additionally units in ruins would give a defense bonus, say half of that from a fortress.

A late industrial age tech would also enable workers to remove ruins.

One other thing any resources in a ruins tile should be unconnected to your trade network till you remove the ruins.

Umm... I thought the ruins thing was pretty clear:

Ruins only appear when the leader of a civ (e.g., Catherine, Montezuma, Celopatra, etc.) is killed in regicide mode. He noted how the English had two cities, but after killing the leader both cities became "ruined." It denotes how the civilization "crumbled" without their leader.

I doubt cities will turn to ruins if the civilization is still an active power (i.e., just one city has been conquered). That just clutters up the board; it makes more sense to seize it or raze it rather than it becoming "ruined."

I thought it looked great overall and can't wait until fall. I totally like the idea of the multiplayer (old news I know) because just the thought of me being able to whup my friends entire civilization is AWESOME.

As far as discussion has gone, I believe it to be called the Hwacha, and it MAY be the Choson (Korean) UU. Although it may be a unit from a scenario pack similar to the dinosaur.

I don;t have the video on this computer to check, but I believe that the city that the leader was in was only 1....so there isn't any proof, yet, on how exactly ruins are created, besides when destroying a city.
