E3 2007: Civilization Revolution Announced for Wii and DS

Take-Two Interactive confirmed on Tuesday that in addition to PS3 and Xbox 360, Civilization Revolution will also be coming to the Wii and Nintendo DS. No version for the PlayStation Portable was listed.

Civilization Revolution is currently being developed at Firaxis Games and Sid Meier is the lead designer for this project.

Release Dates:

• Spring 2008 for the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and DS
• Fall 2008 for the Wii

I can't believe they'd overlook the PSP. It is way more powerful than the DS and would be a much easier port. I hope this is just an accidental oversight, but I find it hard to imagine that they would accidentally forget to list a system.

Not true.. only about twice as many DS has been sold as PSP.

And the number of sold PSPs are about the same as xbox360. Wii and PS3 added together

potential ? what potential ? PSP is outselling DS in some countries. PSP is ouselling PS3 even in Japan. PSP controlling would be same as X360 or PS3, PSP is more powerful than DS, with screen and graphic capabilites could give way better graphic than DS.

I'll get both the Wii and DS versions, if they're half decent. Having some doubt about Civ on console, but at least they do it inhouse rather then hiring some unknown port studio.

Now if we can get multiplayer over the net with both the DS and Wii please!

EDIT: They just don't have the resources atm to do a PSP version, because they're doing all version themselves. If it sells well enough on the other consoles, we might well see a PSP version I guess and probably a better one for it since more niggles will be solved. Relax

That said I think that Civilization fits the DS better then it does the PSP, also DS crowd might include more potential buyers for this type of game. (BTW where is the PSP outselling the DS? Thought it was at least 2:1 mostly?)

Firaxis said they have not enough people or PSP version got not enough potential gamer ? Maybe I misunderstand news ? In second case it's very false since PSP is outselling PS3 even in Playstation country: Japan.

In many countries PSP is outselling DS. For example Poland, which is very strange since it's quite poor country but it people decide to buy handheld they buy PSP, maybe because DS is viible as too "childlish" ...
anyway PSP is outselling PS3 for sure, even in Japan

PSP: ~22milion

Wii: ~9milion
PS3: ~3milion
