Thanks to malgg for the news tip and PC.IGN for the report!

As if PTW isn't bad enough... :p

They shld concentrate on giving us good MP and good scenario-building tools. Which will ensure Civ3 becomes a classic.

Though, will have to learn more details, before deciding...

OMG i am wishing for so much stuff out of this expansion such as trading units and maybe a editor which you can edit saved games as well as a better editor all around maybe editing diplomatic stances...permanetly!! YEY YEY i hope so at least one of the above haha!!

i'll be happy enough with a trigger editor

From their . of view, it 's a great idea. Why have the community mod new units, wonders etc. when they can do the same, and have us pay for it! Supplying a better editor would be cutting their own throat.

How much?:whipped:

Events!!!!!

I think it is great. I enjoy the game now but this will just add to it.
And I do not mind paying for it. All the hours i have put in playing it is cheap entertainment.

Same with me JonathanValjean, and EQandcivfanatic, they already stated that there would be no scripting in Civ3, so I doubt triggers will be available.
As for MP, I rarely go online, it takes way to long to play a game, and it is way to short to play elimination games. The best way to play online is with people you know from around here, or play with friend over a LAN. I really don't see anything wrong with MP as is, Civ3 isn’t really a good online game, and 99% of my satisfaction comes from single player (and modding). I am pretty sure some good changes will be made with the editor, the ability to add more than 32 civs might be one of those.

ivory, look at Civ2, they had just as many expansions as we will probably get, why would you buy a game without knowing it's history? I would reallly like more map choices. It would be great to have the ability to choose arid, and that would lead you to 3 more choices, like 'saharra, desert, and steppe land' for instance. Same way if you chose 'cool' it would lead you to three other arctic-like choices. I really am happy with this expansion, I don't play Civ3 as much as before, but I would hate having it fall into oblivion without any new games, such as expansions and a Civ4.

I was happy with Civ3 PtW, and I don't even play online once a month, I am sure I will be happy with this. :goodjob:

That's awesome!!! Yippee[dance]
I hope it's also here when it's released and not 5 months later like PTW:D

Not to be mean...but I hope its also here when its released? If it is here, doesnt that mean it was released? :p

I would rather wait 5 months for a good and not too buggy game than a thrown together game that took 3 patches for it to be a great game but by the time the last patch came out, I liked CS better.

I wonder what game i was hinting about? ;)

I hope there's an improve diplomacy editor, and an editable future tech era. (and more modern techs).

As reported by Yolky at Apolyton.

We were fortunate enough to attend a Firaxis press event at which the company's president, Jeff Briggs, and the company's chief creative director, veteran game designer Sid Meier, announced a new partnership with Atari Games (the publisher formerly known as Infogrames) to develop and publish new PC games. According to Meier, the new agreement gives Firaxis the right to revisit such classic properties as Colonization, Covert Action, Silent Service, F-15 Strike Eagle, and F-19 Stealth Fighter. Briggs and Meier went on to formally announce the next product in the Civilization series: Civilization III: Conquests, a new expansion pack for the award-winning 2001 strategy game.

Civilization III: Conquests will feature a brand-new single-player campaign that will model eight different famous historical campaigns, including the battle for Mesopotamia, the battles between the Mayans and Incans, the struggle for control of feudal Japan, and even World War II. The expansion pack will also feature a whopping eight new civilizations, as well as a great many other additions, including new military units, new diplomacy options, new government types, new wonders of the world, new victory conditions, new resources, and new luxuries. The expansion will be released later this year.

Incas and Mayans would appear to be 2 of the eight new civs.

no offence... but does Firaxis end up making new projects but not finishing the last ones?

I mean... Civ 3 is great and all, but from civ 3, if i remember correctly, i had to download a lot of patches (5?) for the game to work smoothy and balanced...

And for PTW, the MP doesn't work that great and there was already 3 (i think) patches?! And most game review sites said that he wasnt worth it 'cause there wasnt alot of stuff for the price tag...

now another expansion?

PLZ don't tell me that this is going to be the same as PTW, with 8 new civs, more victories, more wonder(s) (and there was only 1)

I aint gonna buy the new one (whenever its out) if its just like PTW... im only going to buy it if theres like a new age with new-new units (not just 10 or something)

I'm sure they'll get me with this one.

Are there "guess the 8 new civs" threads?

This is what we are all hanging out for! Campaigns means triggered events, and triggered events means something like the civ2 editor!

I was actually thinking the other day, "now wouldn't civ3 be great if it had campaigns like AoE?". Firaxis can read my mind!

So far they have mentioned campaigns from Asia/Japan, South America, Middle east, and Europe. Where else, I wonder?

And it looks like it wont be a repeat of PTW! I think Firaxis have learnt from their mistakes.
