E3: Firaxis Announced 2nd Civ3 Expansion!

I think it's going to be just like PTW, expensive and light.

Will these new "wonders" have new abilities? I doubt it.

31 civs in a game takes so much time, that there's really no need for eight new. If that is what Firaxis had in mind in the first place, probably they will introduce new 'optional' civs and civ limit will stay as 31. Besides, you can create a new Civ in the editor and use fine new leaderheads modders have made.

Victory conditions, well, probably most people will still keep playing conquer the world or build the spaceship.

Hope I'm wrong here. If I'd have a wishlist it would be short: Bring back all the good stuff from SMAC. Triggers editor too.

I am downright shocked that no one has mentioned a wish for a more sophisticated AI.

I'm stunned. Incomprehensibly stunned! This is too much gaming for my circuits to handle. I've still not played regicide, etc. in PTW yet. When will I ever get around to it?

Hey, don't worry !
The much, the better !

I hope a better editor, new units, maybe a better use for UN...

But what about the new victory condition ? What would it be ? To dominate all strategic resources (like Oil) ?

I have to side with Ukas. I can't help being a skeptic with this one. I hope Firaxis surprises me for example with completely new options in the editor regarding actual gameplay. For example: new governments seem to be included. I wonder if there are real changes in that department or does Firaxis go for the old "this govt has less corruption and higher support and that's all the variation anyone needs" approach. Individual support costs for each unit at last?

Anyway, let's wait and see. The things people would like changed in Civ3 are widely known. It's up to Firaxis whether they rise up to the call.

Maybe my letter a week ago saying there was a demand for a new expansion made them decide to do it ;)

Seriously, I hope they listened to my e-mail (which was pushing mostly for an improved editor)

An editor is something that can't be modded (like MP)
That adds selling power

I don't think they could put life into the navy, because some people want improvements, not changes (even if the change improves the game)

Lets hope this expansion greatly expands the game

Just my 2¢

This is good.
I think Dutch,Siam,Inca,Sioux,Nubia(and maybe another African),Manchu and Aboriginal/Polynesian. Canada's a darkhorse but there's certainly enough Canadian players.

New? gov'ts=Fundamentalism/Theocracy

Civ attributes that change over time. If you have the most temples you become Religious-biggest military Militaristic...

Expanded tech tree picking up some of the missing Civ II steps just as PTW picked up the Civ II worker actions.

These pice of information is a nice surprise. I'm really looking forward to it.

Has there been any information about the new civs?

I'm with Bru and K-Man on this great news:

1) Look at the entertainment value even if you only get a dozen or so hours of fun out of it (I know I'll get way more as long as it's balanced and playable; I'm an easy customer to please)

2) BUT it has to come out on Mac! Do we even know when we'll get PTW? Dojoboy, how are you playing it?

Atari, here I am with my wallet open - give me the goods and I'll pony up and thank you for it!!! :)

... that expansion's name, maybe just my impression, suggests that warmongering willl be once more increased.
I wish i'm wrong.

No, no... an no. I don't want to go back to old-fashioned caravans and freights... the abstract system is fine.

What is really needed is to make it deeper by adding quantities to the trading. And the so asked production points.

Keep civilized

I think he means the ability to trade military units (like you can trade worker)

Civilization III: Conquests will feature... the battles between the Mayans and Incans ...[/B]

I though Civ 3 designers were about historical accuracy...

Mayans never even meet the Incas (not Incans). Incas conquered Chibchas, Tiawanaku, Aymara, Diaguitas, Atacameños and many other cultures... of south America.

Keep civilized

What about some new techs:confused:

I'm not going to be in "Future Tech" all day!
Why not some new age like "Space Age" or something?
That would open up alot of new stuff:
- space units (to <<conquest>>)
- maybe new type of railroad (highway or spaceroad maybe?)
- High-tech governments ...

There are almost no limits to what they could put in "Space Age" so they should put this in..

And also, add new techs/units in the civ 3 age, too!
- New governments

- New bio/nuke/chemical warfare (?)
- Anthrax Nuke?
- Susiside Bomber?
- Poison Sewer/Water (from civ2) ?

That would enchance the game even more, and it would make me buy it too :D

Most of my gaming is done on my Mac at home however, which is why I need these expnsions ported ASAP.

Please! :help:
