Earth challenge (huge size)

Is this still being maintained? I was thinking of trying some other games but if not, it seems kind of pointless. I was hoping to see some kind of feedback whereby the map gets rebalanced over time or something. Also, I submitted one game quite a while ago but still haven't seen it posted to the list.

Same. Maybe we should PM OP poster?

Matrix, as you have been online, are you still maintaining this?

To show it's perfectly possible to get domination in the old world.

looks egyptian to me?

It isn't. If you look at the score bar below, you see the Egyptians got taken out some centuries before.

Spoilerized the pic.

Would it be possible to post a walk-thru of that? I wanna see how it was accomplished so early. I find myself taking city after city after city... but there seem to be millions of them and I don't grab 'em all before the late 1800s at least.

Yep, sure, although it's already 3 months ago.
I settled in place, and founded four cities before spamming axes. I got extremely lucky, as Cathy only started producing archers by the start of the war, so I managed to capture one city defended by a warrior. So : axerush Russia.
Then I started building axes and swords, and took on Rome. Do this ASAP. Unlike on the Earth 18 scenario, they do not have iron in Italy, and they will have to go to Turkey to get it. (There might be another one in the area north-west of Greece, not sure. I surely remember pillaging something there, but it might have been a copper mine.Still, it was not hooked up at the end of the war, another streak of luck :p)
So, take over Rome with your Russian veterans before they get Praetorians while teching construction. Take the hill cities when you get construction.
Keep peacefully expanding in Russia, and build an army of Berserkers and Trebs. I attacked Egypt in 500 AD and killed them by 900 AD.
Then you just start taking over whoever is in the Persian regio (usually India) with those same Berserkers - Trebuchets. Beeline for MT - Gunpowder - Rifling. Cavs can beat everything, really. Infantries are not really required.

I did play on Noble, by the way.

1410AD Domination with Shaka on Monarch. (Im too chicken to play higher level)

I took out Mansa and Ramses with Impis and kept the 2 cities each from them. I am not good at keeping a ton of cities early without goin broke so I went and razed India, Kmer, and China. Mongolia's hill cities looked intimidating so I brought the boys back home.

By this point Rome and Russia were down in the Turkey and Iraq areas so I took out Rome with Horse Archers, Impis, and Chariots and kept all of their cities which made up most of western Europe with the exception of a still unfounded Spain.

Then I turned my forces to Russia. They were a bit tough but I had silly numbers at this point. They fell fairly quickly. I kept their cities too.

My forces then headed to Mongolia to take them down. They were terrible. Their capital had been taken by barbs who had a size 10 metropolis goin.

Then came the awful part. It was 700AD and enough Civs were dead and enough land was open, but now I had to settle it. 700 years of slowly goin broke, killing barb ciites, and having my army and workers disband as I settled anywhere I could to fill in space. Thank God for the Great Wall.

I am highly surprised some deity players chose to play on Immortal difficulty. One of the main bonuses of deity AI's - start with 2 settlers and worker. Here we all have 2 settlers and worker. I think score jump from Immortal to deity is significant? (and what is normalized score btw?)

EDIT: Someone already mentioned that, if link to this thread have been posted in Strategy & Tips, you'd have many more subscribers. This is very interesting map and challenge, pity I have found it this late.

VERY impressive. If only Matrix would update this...

This is what I've been looking for; a world map with BTS civs in it. I'll give it a whirl when I finish my current game.

There are a lot of maps in creation/customization, pre-made maps, search for earth maps. The Giant Earth Map is fun(although giant) with BTS civs as well as some other ones.
