Easy Diety Map (Pepe26 batsignal)

Good Job Ben!! :)

Spoiler :
Marble and stone are nice but not really necessary ^^. I didn't have either until after I started my 2nd war in the late ADs. I beelined straight to CS/Forge and simply chopped MoM (425 BC)/TGL (125 BC) in Capital. Now, I did miss Music but that's not really important. Out of curiosity how long do you stay in Caste/Pacifism Ben-jammin? Personally I stay in both until I've reached Economics and then switch to Mon/Bureau/Caste/FreeM/FreeR. This lets me get quite a few great people well before 1000 AD.

I'll throw up 2 screenies from 840 AD, one of which showing great people produced. Plus with more GM you can upgrade lots of units and keep research high. I self research Philo, Paper, 2 turns of Education (1xbulb), and 1 turn of Liberalism (1xbulb). Other GS grabbed an Academy, started my 1st GA (grabbed Taj later), and bulbed most of PP. But yes, I agree this map was very easy. At 860 AD I've already Capitulated Toku and Pacal (attacked both them same time) and Hammy self Capitulated in the 500-600 AD range. Will reach Cav in 4 more turns and still have 3600:gold: surplus to upgrade every Cuir.

i don't think thats true... settling on grassland elephants gives a regular city tile afaik. settling on ele-plains give an extra hammer and the elephant is riverside it also give an extra commerce. or am I wrong?

I only switched from caste/pacifism to slavery/theo after my third GM was produced around 900AD, which was a solid 500+ years in that setup with one golden age (i lost the taj by a few turns, but got a ton of fail gold from it and at that point had little use for GPs anyway). Only 2 GP out of 9 were produced outside my capital.

I meant the plains ivory. There's no extra commerce though.

I didn't want the hassle of a chariot rush so played my way peacefully. Clearly, I have a long way to go!

@Revent
Spoiler :

Gandhi with 150 AD Lib, wowzers! I think he got slowed down significantly by war in my game because i won Lib comfortably in like 540 AD.

He seems to have wasted Lib on Divine Right  I still think my position is winnable because the one who won Lib is on WHEOOH mode at the moment so he should fall back in his lead and my Eastern neighbour has a crap military. All I have to do is wait until Cuirs and kill him off! :)

To 1300 AD:
Spoiler :

Gandhi was a dick. He managed to get a couple of Grenadiers out which was not so good for me  Luckily, I knew his holy city (THREE holy religions!!!!) was going to be a to take so I brought a couple of trebs. Mid-way through, Toku brought his seige along and this helped me finish off Gandhi. Now, waiting for Steel to come in before I finish Hammurabi and Charles. :)

First Deity Win!!! :D :D :D
Spoiler :

Lesson of this game: Cannons will **** everything up until Infantry at which point you need extra cannons to bombard and cause collateral  I was doing fine all the way up until Infantry with cannons at which point I had to reload a bit because I under estimated infantry :p

Details:
I killed off Gandhi as planned and waited for Steel before whipping A LOT of cannons. Following that, a long war started in which Bismarck was bribed against me whilst fighting Hammurabi. After killing Hammurabi, I bribed Toku against Bismarck and kept taking cities using A LOT of cannons (double the number of Cuirs I had) to keep on killing him. By the end of the war, my 20 Cuirs were all Combat V (although super medic accidentally got killed). Then, I got lucky with a GE pop so decided to beeline mass media to build the UN and vassaled Bismarck. Didn't go for Charles as planned because he cap'ed to Pacal.

Thanks for the game Izzul!! :D

well done, revent! congratz!

now, with 2 guys already picking up their first deity win here, I will definitely give this another shot. this will be my first win, too, I hope. You did root for me after all, didnt you, izuul? ;)

Oh, by the way, can you guys give me a little insight on your Gandhi on this map? Did he beeline Music as nefariously as in my game and wonderwhore like a crazyman?

Also, did you have as much trouble picking up alpha as I did? I couldn't trade it until a perceived 2010AD ^^ (I was at music already and even had a couple of turns into currency before I could finally trade for it...) Usually Alpha is available even before I get to Aesthetics.

Check my first post on this thread  Gandhi won Lib at 150 AD :p which is ridiculous even for deity (the same turn TGL was built)! My solution was Cuirs (reinforced with trebs for his capital and holy city). :) Didn't bother going for Lib at all.

ya gandhi was a huge pain in this arse for me too, since I went after pacal and then toku first... by the time I swung around for gandhi he was monstrous and had hammy vasseled who was militarily really advanced. at that point I threw the towel.

but still, there is no indication of the alpha trading issue... has there been any hassle for you?

I think that is because the gold helps our research by a lot so although it looks like the AI are slower, infact, we're just faster. Add RNG to that and you get Alpha really late.

There are usually things productive things that you can do while waiting for Alpha if the AI is late getting it.

1) Put a couple of turns of research into Alpha. You will need to do this anyway if you want to trade Aesthetics for it.

2) Turn off your slider and save money for awhile. This is fairly optimal if you are working on the GS for an Academy. Saving money prior to building the Academy allows for more productive research afterwards.

3) Self-tech Poly and start researching Lit. You might waste a few turns going for Poly, but that isn't too big of a deal. It's fairly likely that none of the AI will have Aesthetics since they don't tech it that frequently and you won't have traded it yet. That should give you a nice head start on the TGL.

The absolute worst case scenario is when there aren't any happiness resources around and Monarchy is essential. That's when not being able to get Alpha hurts because self-teching Monarchy on Deity really stinks since it has very, very little trade value.
