Elaboration of the point system?

Not really, it would just assure there would always be a mod

I agree, all the users of a forum are moderators if they report possible
rules violations and other anti-social behavior to the mods.

So a large forum with a large population of mod helping members doesn't really need a large force of mods. But they do need enough to keep things right and maintain the forums. They also need enough to be able to post explainations of rules and policy changes.

From my point of view it looks like the moderators need more help. And for years I have heard the mods themeselves talk about beiing overworked and stressed. So it seems to me that more mods are needed. But then I am not aware of the big picture as relates to the running of this site.

I just made some adjustments to the expiration dates of the different level of infractions:

- infractions that are worth 1 point now expire after 20 days.
- infractions that are worth 2 points expire after 30 days.
- infractions that are worth 3 points now expire after 35 days.

Previously all infractions expire after 30 days.

We'll continue to tweak the system to make it work better...

I have forgot what an infraction actually is.

Do you give infractions instead of warnings in severe cases of rule violations?

Warnings are more of a gentle reminder of the forum rules. You can equate an infraction to what a warning used to be before the new system. Get enough warnings with the old system you earn yourself a ban.

However, with the new system, warnings generally don't count towards a ban. But infractions always do.

I think that with that feature mods can easily look at a profile and see if the one has made those same mistakes over and over again.

Well it is useful for mods, but the rest of us do not need to see them.

Then minimize the infraction window. There is a little button that allows you to hide the infractions/warnings.

Just to clarify, only the mods and the user can see their infractions. Another user can't look up someone's profile and see somebody else's infractions.

I think the point system is broken. I have been at the forum for how long?

In roughly 5 years of use i was not banned once without my consent.. i have since been 3? times within a month or so.. its getting a bit silly how long the points seem to last.

I am not posting any different than i always have, yet the system mean i am getting banned over and over.

I am not complaining at my bannings, this is not PDMA, i am trying to say that the points should clear faster, as im constantly cycling about the 7 point margin and being repeatedly banned.. it gets boring!
