410 AD (0) My goals for this turn are to get Monarchy before the first Middle Ages tech according to the varient rules, and to shore up the economy for tech purchases. We can't currently afford Monarchy, but we have Republic due in 9 turns and the Zulu lack Republic for a potential trade.
More contacts will reduce tech prices, so:
Buy Contact with Azteca from India for WM + 83g
Buy Contact with Japan from India for 90g
Buy Contact with Babylon from India for WM + 83g
420 AD (1) Start moving workers out of the corrupt south towards the northen cities.
430 AD (2) Seattle worker->market. New York worker->worker. San Fran switches to Marketplace.
(3) Washington galley->market. Chicago Catapult->settler.
(4) Atlanta swordsman->spearman. Buffalo whips a temple.
460 AD (5) New York worker->worker. Buffalo temple->corthouse.
Buy a slave from Zululand for 28g + WM.
IBT- Zulu offers wines for insence + 1gpt. I change the deal to wines for insence + 3g.
(6) Lux tax lowered to 10%
(7) Atlanta spear->market.
490 AD (8) San Fran market->aquaduct. Chicago settler->market. Saint Louis warrior->temple
IBT- Renew Peace with Egypt on even terms and we get 8gpt back. We learn Republic and I trade Republic to Zululand for Monarchy + 3g (using "Big Picture"). We revolt and become a Monarchy ready for the Middle Ages [dance].
500 AD (9) Our income actually goes down a bit in Monarchy due to support costs, and I turn off science in order to buy technology.
Trading:
Buy Engineering from India for WM + 20gpt + 122g.
Buy Monotheism from Azteca for Engineering + 4gpt + 3g.
Buy Feudalism from Zululand for Engineering + 18g + WM.
It took almost every penny we had but we got 3 techs for the price of 1 (almost).
510 AD (10) Washington and Boston grow to size 8, and our income goes up to 7gpt (from 0gpt) as the extra monarchy police keeps more people working.
We are ahead of the Zulu by Monotheism (you can trade it to them for 19g + WM if needed), even with Azteca, and behind the rest of the civs by Theology.
I forgot to fire a tax collector in a southern city and switch the city from wealth to a temple (the extra income was necessary for the brokerage). Also, there is a settler in a galley headed for the uninhabited southern island to grab some land. If we can get the iron resource on that island, there are 2 civs on the other continent which lack iron who will pay a lot for it.
The Save
Gengis Khan, you are up again

but feel free to take your time with it since we are on a short roster until Ted and Erik get back.
