Enter a Brave New World

0 degrees Fahrenheit is really freaking cold. 100 degrees Fahrenheit is really freaking hot.

0 degrees Celsius is fairly cold but not THAT bad if you're used to it. 100 degrees Celsius is dead.

0 degrees Kelvin is dead. 100 degrees Kelvin is dead.

I think it should be obvious which of these is the best metric for the weather.

The Rankine scale, obviously!

My view is that Fahrenheit gives greater precision than Celsius (32 to 212 is much wider than 0 to 100). Plus, there's no reason for everything to revolve around water. Water freezes and boils at different temperatures depending on a number of factors including elevation (it's 100 degrees at sea level, but a different temperature elsewhere) and salinity.

Really, it doesn't matter when you're talking about the weather as long as you know what scale you're talking about. If someone says it's 40 degrees outside here, I know what a 40 degree day feels like. If I'm in the UK and someone says 5 degrees, I'll probably figure out what that is too. No big deal.

This has gotten both off-topic and asinine. May I suggest we get this conversation back on track before a moderator comes along and demands that we do?

Should it also be obvious that talking about the weather is the most important thing we do with a thermal scale? Because it's not.

So when is this video being released? It's hit 5k.
