Radio Address to the German Nation

"...Ladies and gentlemen, the Chancellor of the Republic of Germany, Herr Johann von Krosigk."

Applause.

"Danke, danke schoen.

Good evening. It is my duty tonight to report to you, the German nation, on the state of affairs in France. As you may know, in recent days France has been stricken the terrible fever of Bolshevist revolution, a bloody, dangerous virus which has nearly brought this great European state to her knees. However, though the Bolshevists did their worst, France is still standing. The pillar which has for one thousand years supported the weight of Western Europe has not buckled under the stress of Communist insurgency.

Communism is an opportunistic infection, a virus which preys upon nations already suffering from weakened economies, wounded pride, and social disorders. France was indeed the victim of these ailments before the revolutionary criminal, the so-called Napoleon of Marseilles, ever took up arms against his country. But even in her weakened state France is fighting; and with the support of her friends and the help of Almighty God she shall overcome this plague, as she has overcome before, and shall return afresh to the league of great and free nations. I have faith in the French people and in their Republican government; they shall overcome.

I spoke today with French President de Gaulle, and he assured me that his government is doing everything in its power to bring about the swift and total defeat of the Communist rebels. I in return reaffirmed Germany's commitment to the maintenance of freedom and democracy throughout Europe, and in France specifically. I discussed with President de Gaulle the state of relations between the French and German Republics, and together we agreed that it was in the interests of both the French and German peoples to reconcile our differences arising from the Great War and to move together, in friendship, towards a brighter future. It therefore my great pleasure to announce to the German nation a momentous step towards Franco-German brotherhood.

Ladies and gentlemen, Part Five is dead, and along with it the restrictions and animosities which have poisoned Franco-German relations since the signing of the Versailles Treaty in 1919.

Part Five of the Versailles Treaty consisted of the articles which placed restrictions upon the German armed forces, limiting the Army to 100,000 men and stifling our naval and air forces. With these articles repealed from the Treaty, the wheels of the German arms industry may again turn freely, and our great Republic shall be able to take its rightful place alongside the other free nations of Europe as defenders of democracy against the aggressions of Bolshevist tyrrany."

Applause.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this landmark agreement comes not a moment too soon, for what has happened in France is not impossible in the other states of Europe. The free nations of this continent live each day in the shadow of a great and terrible monster. It is from the dragon's breath of the Soviet beast that the foul air of Communism spreads to infect the free nations, seeping into the still-open wounds of the Great War and the Depression. Germany is no stranger to the spectre of Bolshevism; we have all seen the newsreel footage of radical Communist subversives rioting in the streets of Munich.

However, internal foes are not the greatest threat to the continued freedom and prosperity of our Fatherland. To the east lumbers the mightiest military juggernaut this world has ever had the misfortune to see. The Soviet Union stands poised on our eastern flank. Germany, like her Romanian and Czechoslovak allies, is the first and last line of defense against Soviet domination of the entirety of Europe. If Germany falls, France, weakened as she is by internal dissention, will fall; and beyond France lies Spain, the most subservient and degraded of all Soviet satellites. No, the Russo-German border marks the border between East and West, the demarcation between the Free World and the Soviet Empire. From Memmel to Odessa, from the Baltic Sea to the Black, from the 'republic' of Lithuania to the stolen Romanian province of Bessarabia, an Iron Curtain has descended across the Continent. Beyond that line lies a mammoth beast, a cruel monster with an insatiable hunger for land and blood, a bloody tyrranical kingdom whose mad king sends millions to their deaths for perceived crimes and disloyalties, the greatest part of which are works of his own imagination. It is this colossus of military strength and Bolshevist immorality that faces Germany from across the Iron Curtain.

Ladies and gentlemen, I cannot predict the future. I do not know what tomorrow may hold. But what I do know is this: that if the German nation moves forward, shoulder to shoulder with her friends and allies, strong in her sense of national duty, and secure in her faith in Almighty God, she shall not be easilly overcome by any foreign power, no matter how great and terrible. The German nation has endured great hardships in the past, and she shall continue to endure, as she has always endured. We shall remain vigilante in the defense of our Fatherland and we shall remain steadfast in our support of our friends. Unburdened by the shackles of Versailles, we shall sure up our national defenses and render aid where it is needed to maintain the liberty and freedom of our allies. We shall do what Germans have done throughout the whole history of our great nation: we shall stand fast in the face of danger and prosper in the face of adversity. We shall not falter, and we shall not fail. We shall support the cause of freedom, whatever the cost.

Good night, and God bless."

Wild applause. End transmission.

OOC: They didnt, they and Britain were the Allied powers who signed it. Russia and America signed seperate treaties. Britain isn't online yet, though I imagine they'll agree to the deal.

To Sweden
From Finland:
We agree.

NEW ALLIANCES! Over the past month new alliances have been formed in response to the growing Soviet threat. On Febuary 15, the nations of Germany, Italy, and Rumania all signed an agreement of alliance in the Triparte Pact. A few days later the Republican French signed on as well. In the north, the Scandinavian Union has been formed uniting Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark within the same alliance.

UNREST IN BULGARIA! As the government begins to change from a rightist position towards the left and communism, conservative army forces attempted a coup, but it failed, leaving the rebel army forces scattered across the countryside.

IRON ORE STOCKS SOAR IN SCANDINAVIA! In the past month many millions of US$ have been made in the iron trade in Scandinavia. With the combination of military buildups across Europe, the new civil war in France, and the formation of the Scandinavian Union, stocks of Iron Ore have become increasingly a wealthy business, boosting productivity across the north. (+1 IC for Sweden, Norway, and Denmark)

CIVIL WAR RAGES IN FRANCE! In the north, the city of Caen has been completely surronded, trapping a sizeable part of the Republican Army in the city, which is being worn down through vicious fighting. To the east, Communist forces have broken through to Lyons and are driving steadily northward against weak Republican resistance.

However not all news is bad news for the Republic. Near Paris, Republican forces have launched a major counterattack. They have driven the Communist forces far south and north, well away from the capital, although the bocage country in Normandy led to extensive armored casualties to the Republican forces in the north.

As in the Spainish Civil War, this new conflict has caused many seeking adventure and glory to come from afar to join the belligerent forces. A great influx of modern equipment has arrived in Communist France.

Other foriegn involvement has occured in the form of a massive Italian offensive in action against Communist French forces. A massive strike out of Italian territory has resulted in the surronding of communist forces in Marseillies, trapping a sizable portion of their forces. However a lack of air support for Italian forces has caused extensive casualties. An Italian attempt to land in the Pyrennes was easy repulsed by local volunteers and communst French forces.

Battle of Caen: -7,000 Republican French Infantry, -15 Republican French Fighters, -10,000 Communist French Infantry, -15 Communist French Light Tanks, -10 Communist French Fighters
Battle of Lyons: -14,000 Republican French Infantry, -20 Republican French Light Tanks, -35 Republican French Fighters, -16,000 COmmunist French Conscripts, -1,000 Communist French Infantry, -25 Communist French Light Tanks, -15 Communist French Fighters
Battle of Paris: -9,000 Republican Infantry, -90 Republican Light Tanks, -23,000 Communist Conscripts, -1,000 Communist Infantry
Italian Marsellies Offensive: -24,000 Italian Infantry, -95 Italian Light Tanks, -13,000 Communist French Conscripts, -3,000 Communist French Infantry, -5 Communist French Fighters
Pyrennes Landing: -14,000 Italian Infantry, 90 Light Tanks, -4,000 Communist French Conscripts

TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES! Across the world, nations have begun working on new weapons of war and refining old ones. In Italy, local scientists have improved generic piston engine fighters which has resulted in the Sagitarrio, a fighter capable of matching even the new German jet fighters. In Greece and the United Kingdom, scientists have managed to develop sonar, otherwise known as ASDIC, which enables their destroyers to operate more efficiently against submarines. In Germany technologists have managed an astounding amount of advances, including the new Me-262 jets, the medium Panther tank, and Mobile Infantry Tactics. Spain also has developed new Mobile Infantry Tactics and have used them extensively in their assualt upon Portugal.

RIOTS IN BARCELONA! This Spainish city has been plagued by recent riots against the change from a Leftist Dictatorship to communism. However, actions by local forces quickly brought these disturbances to an end.

WAR IN IBERIA! IN a vicious surprise attack, Spain has assualted Portuguese forces and in the first hours of the conflict on Febuary 2nd, destroyed the Portuguese airforce on their airfields. The Spainish forces were easily able to overwhelm the Portuguese defenses on the borders and now besiege the remaining forces which have holed up in Lisbon and Oporto. At sea, the Portuguese fleet has managed to escape from the Spainish and has arrived in the Azores to the west. Portuguese industry has been captured and converted to Spainish use.

Portuguese Casualties: 45,000 Infantry, 120 Light Tanks, 200 Fighters
Spainish Casualties: 32,000 Infantry, 100 Light Tanks, 1,000 Mech Infantry, 25 Fighters, 30 Bombers

PEACE MADE IN SOUTH AMERICA! The nations of Ecuador and Peru have finally come to terms this month. THe peace treaty has been signed bringing the nations' borders back to status quo. The 2-year long conflict is finally at an end.

If all you offer our people is empty promises of places of refugee, than we will not take it. Your promises blantantly ignore our real need, that off military aid, and if not military aid, than Monterary aid.

We spit on your promises of refugee, as that is an affront to the principles that you fight against, and that Protugal fights against. Offer us military help, or money to help defend my nation, or do not offer help at all.
