Edit: Bleh. I followed this link from the Mac section of the forums, and only now did I realize that the mod's gone way farther v2.8. Sorry, my bad. Didn't mean to bump an old thread.
Hmm, I have three problems using the EDU mod (installed 2.6, then 2.8. Running Civ IV vanilla 1.61):
1) When I start a game Civ IV complains about "Tag: UNIT_ARCHER_AFRICAN in Info class was incorrect. Current XML file is: Units/CIV4FormationInfos.xml" (The dialogue box has a title of "XML Error")
2) The M-60 doesn't appear; instead, a big red hemisphere appears in its place. I took a look at the XML files and it seems that instead of referring to M60.nif, an "M60ted.nif" is used... I got this version from the first post of the thread, so I assume that this is the latest version. Seems like just a harmless mistake in removing the word "Animated" from the filename; everything looks fine when I have M60.nif instead
3) The Yamato battleship is red, glowing red. Okay, I have to admit, even though I'm sure the battleship isn't supposed to be completely red, it looks totally cool. Very badass. The battleship glows like Mars in bloodlust. But still, I thought I'd bring it up.
If it counts for anything, I'm running Civ 4 on a Mac. No boot camp. Also, I haven't read every page of this thread... I did do a search for any Mac-related problems and nothing came up, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.
By the way, I tried directly installing the mod (and by that I mean destructively overwriting the stuff in my CustomAssets folder) because I thought it'd be nice to have the mod just "there", like Blue Marble, and be able to load other mods. I don't know a lot about mods and wasn't very smart in installing, so I ended up making Civ IV, without mods, unplayable. The game just crashes whenever I start or load a game. The only way I can play Civ now is through mods... Anyway, if anyone wants to try something similar, be careful.
