Europa

going to try it out now. If I have installed it correctly. extracted the file and moved it to bts/mods. guess that is correct. will give feedback:-)

I did load the mod. but the only change (that I could see) from a normal bts game is that there is 3 religions. isn't there any new units, buildings, civlizations, recourses etc.?

Just fired it up, there are also other wonders ;).

Thought about this mod here recently, and i think it might need more "european enhancement".
Take noneuropean civs out, and add some "missing" ones, like Poland, Hungary, Austria, etc.
Take noneuropean resources out or better replace them with european resources.
Add the appropriate religions, like the norse/viking and the roman/greece one, and split up christianity in more (let's say at least catholicism, protestantism + orthodox).
Do the same with corporations. Why sids sushi? Why not Nestle or Ferrero?

While this doesn't change gameplay that much, it makes an interesting theme based mod, which is easy to play, and easy for beginners to get in.
Doing the same for the other continents might also be interesting, but might need more work due to the standard BtS content.

I agree that the mod needs some enhancement. I haven't abandoned it, just taking a break while I create yet another European map and also working on a few other mods.

I definitely agree about the religions. Removing the non-European religions does change game play, so adding them back makes sense. As does removing the non-European civilizations and adding some more European ones.

As for the corporations, I don't know. They're all made-up anyway, and changing them would be difficult for the graphically-challenged such as myself. Sushi couldn't exist without Japan, or at least without rice, neither of which is native to Europe, so that one needs to be replaced, but I would think the others are compatible with a European experience.

Thanks for the feedback!

This looks like a very good mod!

Some Suggestions:
1. When a Civ founds a city on a certain plot, it is automatically named to a city of the accurate location (For example someone founds a city near the mouth of the Themes, it will be automatically named "London". To mix it up, the civ that owns the city will have it automatically named/renamed to their native language (Just life RFC).
2. Have civs come and go with events such as The Holy Roman empire being created in the 8th or 9th century, but splitting up into different civs later. You can still survive as an ancient civ to the modern era, but it will get difficult.
3. Perhaps keep the non-european religions, but let them appear much later in the game (many are a recent 20th century phenomenon to Europe), they will appear randomly in the modern era after certain technologies are researched, but you will not be technically founding them (will not have the Holy City on map).
4. If possible, have civs rename over time (Eastern Roman Empire renames itself to Byzantine Empire after the West falls).
5. Older Religions will decay and disappear as the game goes along (such as Hellenism or Kemetism).
6. Minor civs that settle down later (like in Rise of Mankind) that are civs such as the Picts.
7. Having the option to switch civs when they come (like in RFC) except they may appear already having taken the lionshare of cities that are in their native territory and probably at war with the ones that they got the cities from.

I could go on and on.:)
