Europe in 2002

Units?
Germans certainly use Leopards that they sell to Scandinavians and other Europeans. I suppose the Poles would use some Russian armour, Spain probably uses British or American armour.

About the unit art, I suppose it could be found, it just depends whether you like Nemonesque units or not. Because I know there are many such 20th century tanks in the Units! thread - they're just mostly Nemonesque.

Yes and so did Denmark and Norway... And obviously also Spain...

It's great you all help each other with making new scenario's.
I'm just enw here and I'm working on my first scenario (The War Against Terrorism).
But I have one question; how can I change the units and unit discriptions?

That's a very basic question, Ramsses.

The best way to find out is definitely to find out for yourself, and not let one of use clumsy veterans confuse it all. Try downloading some scenario with modified units, graphics, rules etc.
A tip would be that the changes to the units are to be found in two files: Units.gif (or Units.bmp) and Rules.txt (a units section some way down in the file). It's not that difficult when you get the hang of it. But remember you need Conflicts, MGE, or FW to edit them, and a second thing that is often mistaken - there are only a certain number of unit slots, so you have to edit the existing units - new can't be added and old can't be removed.
If you're still interested in someone telling you how - look at this FAQ from the downloads section: http://www.civfanatics.com/Civ2Ref/civdesin.zip
Information on how to create units are found in section 6). It's very useful.

The units descriptions are different - a lot of work would need to be invested and not many scenarios feature units descriptions. Instead the file Pedia.txt is just placed among the scenario files, and the basic features of the units are displayed when clicking the units in Civilopedia. Wonder texts can be edited in that file, though.

Sorry, I'm just a newbie in making scenario's.
But I still doesn't understand this things in the disrules.txt file:

Settlers, Exp, 0, 1.,0, 0a,1d, 2h,1f, 4,0, 5, nil, 000000000000000
Engineers, nil, 0, 2.,0, 0a,2d, 2h,1f, 4,0, 5, Exp, 000000000000010
Warriors, Feu, 0, 1.,0, 1a,1d, 1h,1f, 1,0, 1, nil, 000000000000000

What does the numbers behind the unit names mean?

It tells you what each one does right above the units section. The number are the codeing for things like x2 defense against mounted (movement 2), x2 defense against air, treat all terrain as roads, etc. Which version are you using? MGE, FW, or classic?

If you look right above that section, you will see an explanation for the numbers, letters, and digits:

; Unit Types
;
; until, domain, move,rng, att,def hit,firepwr cost,hold, role, preq, flags
;
; until = Civ advance which renders unit obsolete
; Move = Movement rate (spaces per turn)
; Range = # of turns fuel carried (0 for non-air units)
;
; domain = Movement domain of unit
: 0 = Ground
; 1 = Air
; 2 = Sea
;
; att = Attack factor (chance to score hit attacking)
; def = Defense factor (chance to score hit defending)
; hit = Hit points (damage x10 which can be taken before elimination)
; firepwr = # damage points caused per hit scored on enemy.
;
; cost = Cost (# of shield rows, usually of 10 shields each)
; hold = # of holds on ship (for carrying units)
;
; role = AI role (Generally affects the way in
; which computer players use the unit, but
; roles >= 5 will actually affect abilities
; of the unit)
; 0 = Attack
; 1 = Defend
; 2 = Naval Superiority
; 3 = Air Superiority
; 4 = Sea Transport
; 5 = Settle
; 6 = Diplomacy
; 7 = Trade
;
; preq = Prerequisite advance
;
; "Flags" control special advantages & restrictions. Not
; all of these flags "make sense" for all types of units
; (paradropping ships, for instance). Nonsensical variations
; may produce bizarre effects (or worse). You were warned.
;
; 000000000000001 = Two space visibility
; 000000000000010 = Ignore zones of control
; 000000000000100 = Can make amphibious assaults
; 000000000001000 = Submarine advantages/disadvantages
; 000000000010000 = Can attack air units (fighter)
; 000000000100000 = Ship must stay near land (trireme)
; 000000001000000 = Negates city walls (howitzer)
; 000000010000000 = Can carry air units (carrier)
; 000000100000000 = Can make paradrops
; 000001000000000 = Alpine (treats all squares as road)
; 000010000000000 = x2 on defense versus horse (pikemen)
; 000100000000000 = Free support for fundamentalism (fanatics)
; 001000000000000 = Destroyed after attacking (missiles)
; 010000000000000 = x2 on defense versus air (AEGIS)
; 100000000000000 = Unit can spot submarines

The section in bold shows the order in which the information comes.
It is all explained below in the "non-bold" text...

Ramsses, if you'd like to ask additional questions, may i suggest the "Scenerio Making for Beginners" thread, which is at the top of this section. Or you may PM me and i can help ask much as possible.
I am also setting a tentivie release date to get this puppy out of the oven so to speak, so mark your calendars:D. Hope to start playtesting by 1 March and to have the public release by 1 April.

Good day to all and thanks for your contuined interest and help!:thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Hey Archer, how about this "America 2005" scenario you mention in your sig? Is it something similar to my "Collapse of North America 2010" scenario I'm working on (described in the "Awsh*t!" thread)? What angle are you coming from for it? Just curious.

As far as I know, we use the Leopard armours; I'm sure that we have british and american tanks, but lately we're buying many Leopards :D

Not really. I'm thinking of not even making it and just creating something totally different after Euro 2002. Possibley a world scenario?

I now get it how to ebgin aith a scenario.
Hopely I can start soon with my first scenario about the European Colonization time.

I've made a beginning, but I still have a problem with the slaves.
When you defeat a Native Warrior you have to get a slave in your capitol city but I don't know how to do this :confused:.

The UK has a large population density and this, combined with the regimental structure of the army, means that there are bases near almost every city. However, some information which you may find useful:

1) 1st UK Armoured Division is based in Nordrhein-Westfalen and Niedersachsen, Germany, forming part of the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps. Many of the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks will be there.

2) 3rd Division is the other main fighting division based on the British mainland, but its component units are pretty much spread out.

3) The other divisions (2,4 + 5) are spread around the different regions of the UK, But it is the headquaters that are in these positions, most of the brigades/regiments are associated with their own towns.

4) Airbases are similarly spread out.

5) The airbourne units (Paras) have their HQ (16 Air Assault Brigade) in Colchester which is on the East coast half way between London and Cambridge.

6) Principle Royal Naval shore establishments are at:
- Portsmouth (South East England),
- Devonport (South West England),
- Culdrose (South West England),
- Yeovilton (South mid England)
- Clyde (Mid West Scotland)

The two South West could probably be grouped under Plymouth, Clyde under Glasgow and Yeovilton under Portsmouth, although I don't know how detailed your map is.

There is also a naval base in Gibraltar.

7) The nuclear deterrant is based in Clyde. (near Glasgow). Clyde is mainly a submarine base.

8) 40, 42 and 45 Commando Royal Marines are generally based in South West England (Devon in particular)
