Even More Resources for Vox Populi

Even More Resources for Vox Populi (v 8)

Right now there are no Camp or Fishing Boat luxury resources in this mod, but there are 2 mine and 2 plantation resources. I think it would be an improvement to this mod if we could manage to add 1 of each. If you wanted to keep the total number of resources the same, I would axe Lavender and Tin, since we already have plantation and mine luxuries, and lavender is purple like the existing dyes, and tin is less precious/interesting than platinum IMO.

There's already a bird model in the game, it hovers over fish tiles and circles around. I'm thinking you could probably re-color the bird a little brighter (it's a white seagull right now), and make it a feathers resource that spawns in jungle. The jungle/land would cover the fish, making them invisible, so I don't think you would need to do anything complicated for that. Then you could have a Quetzal as the icon. A very prominent bird in the feather industry, highly prized and different from Sukritact's, which I believe uses a hummingbird.

For a sea resource, I think my favorite idea would be to add Wampum, which is made from whelk shells, and was highly prized as jewelery and as currency by various Eastern First Nations like Huron and Cherokee. You could use the Pearls resource model, and slightly recolor it with a hint of blue/red.

IMO, Poppies should be renamed to Opium. Other luxuries are named after the finished luxury good after processing. "Wine" is a luxury, rather than "grapes", "Sugar" rather than "beets/Sugarcane", "Silk" not "Silkworms", etc.

Since wine is already in the game as a luxury, champagne feels like doubling-up with a regionally-specific sparkling wine. A possible change could be to use Chartreuse instead. It's a regionally-specific liqueur that is hundreds of years old, passed down as a secret recipe. It's also bright green, so it would make for a striking icon.

EDIT: if feathers simply cannot be done, Honey seems like it might be manageable as a Camp resource, since adding beehives to trees wouldn't require any animations. Then replace Honey with something else as a CS resource. maybe like a Tanpura or Cymbals, since the production of those instruments is pretty regionally specific and different from existing luxuries

Yeah, I’m still partial to the idea of having a non-grape, non-grain liquor as that 3rd alcohol slot. We got wine, beer and fancy bubble wine. Maybe chartreuse isn’t the best option, but there’s some other options for a liquor worth exploring.

Rum (sugarcane molasses liquor) would be a good one. Ties in with the Caribbean
Absinthe (Anise and fennel spirit) - I guess I'm on a bit of a green drink kick
Sake or Baiju (rice wine)
Tequila (Agave liquor)
Fenny (Cashew/Coconut Liqour)

I'd rather stay away from Champagne (more grapes), Brandy (yet more grapes) or whisky (more grains). It seems unnecessary to be that repetitive

If you take me by the feelings, I vote for and even if I have a soft spot for the French style (derived from cane juice and not molasses most of the time), I also adore the english rhum navy (with its iodine notes) and the Spanish style (when there is not too much added sugar) :agree:.

I absolutely want to add more resources, but I'm limited by models since I'm not good at that.

If adding resources, I want them to be distinct from existing resources gameplay wise as well.

For Poppy name, many luxury resources in game do not use the finished product name. Poppy has more uses than Opium anyway, so it is fine.

I've tried adding sharks as my first attempt at modding something, but then realized modding is hard and quit. :D They would be similar to the role obsidian fulfills now here in that it would give 10% extra combat strength on monopoly. Could even make it specific for just naval combat and make it like 20% to make it even more unique.

Yeah, I think riding the sharks into battle would definitely equate to at least an extra 10%CS -- how thematic!

I love the idea of wampum in the game.

This doesnt work and I dont know why.

Map luxuries and bonus ressources dont appear on the map.

They are still mentionned in the technologies and in some of the buildings.
Only the city-states luxuries seem to work.

I tried troubleshooting
- Checked if I had the most recent version of vox populi.
- Stopped using Tectonic map script and went back to the vanilla one to see if things would spawn.
- Tried turning off every mod apart from vox populi

Even with all this. Ressources don't show up.

Are you on the most recent version of Vox Populi and not using the normal communitas map? The new version of Vox Populi can be found in the threads of the main page for CBP.

You might have missed what I said because you didnt read my post or I wrote poorly because english is not my first language.

As I said, I have the most recent version of Vox Populi. I know because I downloaded it a week ago and delete the previous older version in my mod folder before installing.
This one to be exact. https://mega.nz/folder/DMsxkDYI#zSpR9CHpmAfWyIvMXaN3pw

I always used the tectonic map generation script. I stopped using it, started a new game and tried a vanillla map instead.

I tried deactivating all the mods apart from vox populi and extra ressources.

Still nothing. Also, as I am typing this, I have discovered another bug. It seems that some of the ressources are switch around. I have three corals as you can see from the jpeg. Yet the game tells me I have perfume instead.
China has three Lapis Lazuli tiles which appear as corals for trades.

Just did some further testing. It seems that this mod breaks down when used with the 43 civ version of vox populi. I tried with the basic vox populi version (with EUI) and it works. Perhaps a warning should be added on this mod that says it wont work with the 43 civ since it's 3 of the six options when using the installer.
