Even the Left is getting it

Don't get me started on public understanding of TMI!

:gripe:

But yes, the people who scream the loudest might have ulterior motives, and they might not. I don't know enough to comment, but I like to see the stars at night, and that's the only reason I need to keep things a little bit cleaner. Theatrics shouldn't be necessary.

Cockburn, hehe. :ouch:

About global warming, who cares, there's nothing we can do about it anyway. And I'm not too worried about what these self-proclaimed experts say anyway, 30 years ago they all wanted us to freak about global freezing, that's right, global freezing.

This is a BBC documentary, its pretty entertaining regardless of your opinions:

Are all of your posts argumentum ad nausiums?

Didn't we just have a thread about that video?

Again:

Homie, there was a discussion on that video. It's been pretty well debunked from the beginning to the end. In addition, the director has been shown to be somewhat of an illegitimate source (in another documentary he did, his science advisor quit because she realised he wasn't interested in science)

OK, I wasn't aware that there was a thread on that video. I don't see how it can be debunked though, it isn't making any extreaordinary claims, it basically says that global warming is a natural phenomenon that ocurrs from time to time, and we can't really know if today's global warming is man-made or not.

The global cooling scare of the 70's is the final nail in the coffin. People are drawn to sensationalism. Don't succumb.
To boil a long rebuttal down: What global cooling scare?

Ugh, this will inevitably turn into a 5-page CFC train wreck (tm) despite

1. DBear posted this as a hit-n-run troll thread and has no intention of reading or replying to it

2. He and his argument were already put in their place by, er, post #5 or 6.

One scientist used discredited and incomplete data (he's been shown wrong over and over). Another scientist presented his theory (on an alternate cause) and then disproved his own theory between the filming and the airing of the film (pretty well showing that sometimes science works). A third scientist may have started a lawsuit because he claims that his interview was edited to take him entirely out of context.

The video talks about the 'cooling' in the 40s as if it's some type of revelation, but never talks about what's deemed to be the most likely cause (sulfates)..

Basically, while global warming does happen natually, the film presents a series of lies (and falsehoods) trying to convince the audience that the current CO2 is not a problem and not man-made.

Swindle is up there with Loose Change.

So, DBear, somebody just made up global warming, because...? Did they want to make money? In that case, it failed.
People and companies who receive grants for global warming research. Companies that sell green technology.

There is in fact a whole lot of money to be made from the (alleged) global warming hoax.

Still how is that a bad thing? Less pollution is good.

Not necessarily.

The site won't let me give the URL of a frame, so hop into the site and click the SHIVERRR! doomsday scenario. And you'll find this:

Exit Mundi said:
It goes like this: mankind emits a hell of a lot of greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide. But plants and algae live on carbon dioxide. They'll grow and grow, because there's plenty of the stuff around. Already, this effect is clearly seen in oceans, where algae and plankton thrive more than ever.

But then, after some decades, carbon dioxide is up. Be it because of humans switching to other, cleaner fuels, or be it because there are so many algae and plants; the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere will drop. But all those `extra' plants and algae will still be there, sucking up all carbon dioxide they can get. In a short period of time, they will suck almost all carbon dioxide out of the Earth's atmosphere.

And when that happens, the stage is set for the next big freezing, since carbon dioxide is also the `blanket' that prevents the warmth from flying away from the Earth's surface.

There you have it. Drop in pollution causing an Ice Age.
