1) Whether it be warriors or a computer firewall, it's good to stop the barabarian criminals from coming in and taking your money!
2) Try and build your home on grassland. It needs occasional mowing, but it's far prettier and more productive than living elsewhere!
3) You can't get ahead without learning!
4) Building a Forbidden Palace is like starting a 401k/retirement account. It may eat up some early resources but is very worth it in the long run!

Most geography was learned through civ for me, by playing real world scenarios :)

lol, i just took an advanced ancient history course in university...playing civ 3 had its ups and downs...

a)my homework and projects were rarely completed
b) i learned about the world and its civs just by reading the info for each scenario and the bio for each civ... I actually put civ 3 conquests in my bibliography for my year end essay on ancient greece haha :goodjob:
