Wow... Thanks mad-bax! This is so detailed!
Hmmm.. in retrospect the spearman WAS a bad choice. I kinda thought it was, but I'm always worried that the AI is going to come over and take my stuff. On the second game I ever played, I was England and accidently set up too many AIs. Three different ones came over a took all three of my undefended cities. I had a a histograph of 17.
Anyway, I don't think it's too late to start a settler factory. I've only played 10 turns and since this isn't like a super-hard deity game or anything, I think I can catch up. I've found some free techs already which is good. I set my science slider where I did to earn some cash. I did this because I remembered from the first attempt at this game that rome is pretty darn close and if it turns out i'm behind in tech, I want to pay off caeser for the ones I missed.
How do I capture a screenshot? Alt-tab doesn't bring me back to desktop, which is weird because it usually does on most of the games I play. sigh. I posted the save so you could look at it because I don't know how to do screenshots.
Back to the topic at hand, I think in my next ten turns (which I will wait for your comments on before I plow ahead) I will build a granery and then another settler. I'll keep my worker mining and building roads to keep production up and rearrange the citizens to get the maximum out of each square if need me. I'll keep my warrior and scout fanning out in opposite directions to cover the land efficiently. I'll keep north mostly because I am positioned to the extreme south. Good?
Thanks again!
