Mise, Joe and Supper, oh I see. In the US, or around here at least, bus drivers walk up and down the bus and give it the once over before letting everyone get on. Would a bus driver notice if somebody at a stop got on the bus with baggage, and then got off without it? Im sure in light of the G8, authorities must have told the bus companies to tell their drivers to be extra alert.

Here in London we have weekly if not daily regular transport delays as 'suspect packages' are reported, however this highlights that vigilence can only go so far.

If I see unattended luggage I always ask around if it belongs to anyone. It's often a source of amusement as you notice others start to get edgy before the silence is broken.
The worst was when I was on the tube to Heathrow and a beeping started eminating from someones luggage. Scared the crap out of me, but it was just some tourists alarm clock...!

So did we place importance on individual life . So will you . Until this sort of thing starts happening every other day . You do tend to get desensitised when there is a terrotist attack every day . Then you'll just read about it , shrug , and move on , almost totally apathetic . Hope you never reach that state , though .
I didnt mean it as a jab, hope I didnt offend. I know non Westerners value life too. Ive mentioned in other threads that caring so much about individuals is as much a great weakness as it is a great strength, and its used to manipulate us, very effectively.

The blast pattern of the bus indicates that it was located on the top section ... so the driver obviously couldn't see if a passenger left a bag ... and we are not talking large amount of explosive either ... lunchbox would do ... so I don't think that a suicide bomber is the obvious scenario ...

I hope that the perputrators are found and that justice is done ...

Well, most bus drivers are pretty dumb... But really, there's no way that bus driver would (a) remember if person X has a bag or not , and (b) notice that they don't have a bag when they leave. People leave the bus in the door in the middle, and drivers are more concerned with people getting ON to the bus for free than people getting off it.

Bozo, Mise is right. Of course at this stage we do not know if a suicide bombings were involved. That is the problem, do you check everyone who 'looks Arabic' or in the old days anyone with an Irish accent and search them when they are going about doing normal activities?

Blair and G8 leaders on now. They will remain united against fanaticism and will win in the end.

Thing is in london at rush hour on a bus going through centeral london its impossible to keep track on everybody espesially on the top deck as its to time consuming

Actually, it is not racism, as we are the same race as Arabs, Caucausian race...

...Now, the time is to reeducate the Arabs, their way of thinking has no place in the World as Japans and Germanyæs thinking in WW2.
You are racist scum and you know it. Don't even try to pretend you have a caring bone in your body, since if you did you wouldn't condemn a culture with billions of people because of a few loonies.

BBC says only two dead (so far :( )

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4659093.stm

I thought it was some left wing anti-globalization fanatics at first, but it seems like a too complex attack for them to manage. BBC says Al Quaida has claimed responsibility, but its not confirmed.

I hope with all my heart that there will be no more deaths than those unfortunate two already confirmed. :(

The reason I think it may have been suicide bombers is, there were 6 bus blasts, is that right? It seems hard to believe that in all six, nobody, drivers or passengers, noticed that a person was leaving without their bag.

My condolences to all of England :( Scary thing is i was talking to a friend of mine 2 days ago and we were tlaking about how quiet the terrorists has been lately, and i said that if i wanted to do a terrorist attack now i do it in the UK, i tough Scotland would be most likey but....

The best place to create most confusion and create panic is in a big city, and London is a capital and metroppolis. And i hope they cautch this bastards and give them the punishment they deserver.

Well, have you ever heard them? Besides, do you speak arabic?

Besides, I am not praising god or Allah as a suffix.

So who is the Sick Man to judge? I merely stated my opinion, and you are free to empathize with the arabs and be politically correct.

I am certain we will win in the end, they could just give up now before it gets worse for them, there are still several non-invaded arab countries and non-evicted arab immigrants.

Time to pick up the broom and sweep them out. Get them out.

@Provolution: Could you just please take your racist and ignorant garbage someplace else....?

A previously unknown group calling itself "Secret Organisation al Qaeda in Europe" said it carried out the attacks as revenge for British "military massacres" in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Drakan, the 90 figure is for injuries at Aldgate East (site of one particular explosion). Impossible to tell the numebr of fatalities at the moment, but the general sounds are such that it hopefully won't go that high.

It was going to happen eventually, no matter what you do. Just hope they can contain the damage and hopefully not pass a new string of legislation to arrest muslims or other minorities

FF, are you sure? Damn, from 2 to 50. I think the more "official" sources (the BBC, CNN, Fox, etc.) want to be totally sure so they arent criticized later...

Im almost sure this is Al-Quada, who else really could it be?

As regards to location in London, I'm sitting in Canary Wharf in London Docklands - slightly unnerved by being right next to 1 Canada Square (tallest building in the UK, and a potential target if ever there was one), but, let's face it, the chances are we've had all the blasts by now.

The Underground wil be shut for the rest of the day, apparently. Guess that'll apply to the Docklands Light Railway as well. Wonder how I'm going to get home ?
