Faith and segregation

In my experience the churches help hold the patchwork of small towns that make up our local school district together.

I am curious if people of other segregations or faiths or belief systems or atheists or whatever feel excluded in such an arrangement. I would presume that most such arrangements don't actively create a hostile environment for other faiths, but I can see it going that way here and there.
