Around turn 475ish... GPF occurs in

I have the saved game if anybody is interested in looking into this.

Version: FFH 033 patch F; FF42 patch G;

.......

Installed FFH 033 patch G.

Reinstalled FF42 and applied FF42 patch G.

Same CTD... no change.

2nd time around I've had a recurring CTD...first game was around turn 590, this one is at turn 685. I ended up giving up on the first one, and deleted the saves associated with it.

Playing a bit of strange game: Capria leading the Svartalfar, with some worldbuiling terrain editing (mainly adding grasslands for cottages and hills for mines) on Prince difficulty.

Anyways, things were progressing well until this turn, where Hyborem declares war on me (that bastard!) . Predictably, his armies enter my land, his big ugly mug shows up on my screen and then the game crashes. I'd crash too if I had a screen full of him, or is he an 'it'?

Patch G for FF 0.42,
and started with patch F for FFH 2 .33, but installed the lastest G patch for FFH today, game still crashing (didn't think that would have any effect, but figured I'd try it)

Attaching a .zip of the save.

Loving these mods...Fall from Heaven was great, and Fall Further is even better. Guess I will start again and see if I get another recurring CTD.

It should "reproducibly" crash at conclusion of turn 449.

Ran through turn 455 without issue :(

Played to turn 697 on this one without a crash :(

Great mod guys. I just have one question. The Fog of War (FOW) in FFH and FF is driving me crazy. It is so dark I can't see anything. I have to point the mouse at terrain and then read what it tells me in the lower left corner because just looking at it I can't tell what it is. It isn't a problem in other mods, just these two. I even found where to change to FOW in the GlobalDefines.xml, but FFH and FF don't seem to have a GlobalDefines.xml. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I sort of messed up my FF GlobalDefinesAlt.xml. I can't seem to pull only that file out of the archive, could someone upload that file so I don't have to completely reinstall?

hmm....

I have loaded it four times so far and it crashes every time at the same spot...

I'm running Vista SP1, with full professional development environment.

I'm getting a strange problem with Fall Further, when I load up any game no UI shows up except for the menu when accessed with the keyboard. I can't see any UI from the menu like options or the Civilpedia. I have tried reinstalling and repatching to ffh 33.e, didn't help.

If it matters I'm using vista.

Atanor: Try hitting CTRL+I or ALT+I and seeing if that does anything.

Dorian, check to see if the portrait of you in the Hallway is playing FF instead.

:p

Also check if disabling the UAC helps to clear things up. I don't think anyone who has had UAC issues has stated that they fail at this precise point, but it could hopefully be the case. If not, hopefully the next patch works for you instead.

Tried those commands, didn't do anything.
I always have my UAC off, I tried to run as admin and that didn't help either.

I get the feeling I could play the game fine if I knew all the commands to move the guys around since the game still loads up fine, just that I get no interface.

Well, press "B" to have a settler build a city. Hotkeys for workers to build things get a bit more involved, but you could just automate them with "A". "F" for Fortify, "E" for Explore. Just about everything else you want to do is done with the mouse. "F#" keys open your advisors if those work for you at all.

You didn't modify any of the files yourself? I'd imagine the easiest way to not have any interface would be a bad CvMainInterface.py file.

I just reinstalled Fall Further and patched it up to G, still no interface, perhaps it could be a problem with Fall from Heaven but I checked it out and it works fine.

I searched through the Fall Further 42 folder, found two CvMainInterface files, I go to the folder they are at, they arn't there. I copy paste them into the python folder, which they evidently were already at (didn't ask to copy over). Tried the game, still nothing.

@ NineTails, I must be blind. I can't find a button for FOW. Do you mean the Bare Map button? That doesn't really help much. I would have to be constantly turning it on and off. I suppose I could do that. It is still a bit of a hassle. I don't understand why the FFH and FF mods make the FOW so much thicker than Vanilla and other mods. I just wish I could lighten things up a bit.

I do not think it is making the FOW thicker, so much as the terrain is naturally darker. Thus when you make it slightly darker still....

Does you monitor have Gamma settings you can control? That could help a bit.

For the CvMainInterface, the files belong in Assets/Python/Screens. The 2 files hopefully were CvMainInterface.py (which is used) and CvMainInterfaceFF.py (which is not used any more). If that isn't the case then it is a bit peculiar.

They are in screens, stupid vista search breaks off after a while so it just showed as python) to me.

You said that FfH itself works for you, so try copying the CvMainInterface.py from that folder into Fall Further. Things will still work for the most part, you'll just miss out on a couple of bonus interface pieces, like the button for UnitStats and the actual AC indication on mouseover of the nifty end turn button.

Tried it, didn't help, that can't be the problem.
