Fall Further - The Original Thread

Also, something I just thought of: Does Birthright regained allow you to get a second nmother unit as the archos, could you have two at once?

It's mentioned in her 'pedia entry (along with the obligatory Monty Python quotes). You can use it to release her a second time, but you can't use it to have two at once (you basically get a "free resurrect" using Birthright Regained).

Yes I am getting all manner of XML errors such as

LoadXML call failed for Terrain/CIV4Teraininfos.xml

Allocating zero or less memory in CvXMLLoadUtility::SetVariablesListTagPair Current XML File is : xml\Technologies/CIV4TechInfos.xml

and many many other XML errors.


As I mentioned I renamed the original FfH2 to Fall Further and added the extracted "assets" foulders into this mod and hit 'replace all'. The steps I then take are to load CIV4 Bts, go to advanced and load a mod : at which time I load Fall Further- getting 1/2 way through the load before I get all the XML errors. FfH2 mod doing this process works great and we, my wife and I just finished our first game. :) Loved it.

Looking at what you've said, though, I have a feeling that maybe your Fall Further download didn't finish or was corrupted. Or maybe the entire FfH folder didn't copy completely. I'd try deleting the new Fall Further folder and starting over.

I did that deleted all, re copied FfH 2 foulder and remaned it FF. Downloaded new FF mod and Patch D, extracted both and installed into the FF mod that I had renamed from FfH2 that I copied)

Same result with the XML errors :(.

It sounds like I am on the right track but have no idea what to do from here.

Oh, by bassalisk riders I meant the big, lumbering gekko type things. Not snakes. Hence, combine with siege line.

Those would work great for battering rams, but I was thinking snakes would be a quicker horse replacement that was super fast in jungle/swamp. Plus, we don't have a gecko model to use, but have a snake. :)
 
@Itambu - what language version are you using? Anyone know if that causes issues? It looks like he's done everything else correct.

Just as a random idea, can you try an install of FF without Patch D and see if that loads at all? If it does, then try applying Patch D and checking again.

Both parts should be fine (the version I'm working on at the moment started off as a downloaded install rather than a copy of my local code), but if we can find which part is causing you trouble, we'd be a step closer.

In other news, I may be resorting to including a DLL with FF after the next version of the DLL source is posted. There are a lot of little neat things that I'd like to do and the only thing that's preventing me from doing them is that I was trying to avoid using the SDK at all. Not all of them are going to be of any use to Kael, so understandably they don't really have a place in the main-mod DLL (though he was good enough to take on the Defense changes) - so I'm going to try to maintain a current copy of my own DLL alongside the main mod's.
 
as a side note Vehem, would you be able to help out with the Warhammer mod? im really interested in getting the wetland/swamp mechanic into WH for the lizard civs, and im really not that great at coding. also, id like it if jungles had a small chance of gifting non lizard unts that went through them the 'diseased' promotion (this would be for WH, not so much FF :p)

Just to let you know I uninstalled FFH2 and then reinstalled everything without your mod this time.

I am currently up to turn 800+ in an epic speed game and no CTDs.

By this time using your mod I was having CTDs every 10-20 turns. Again, I would simply reload without a problem after getting kicked out by the CTD and play for another 10-20 turns before getting a new CTD.

Heaven knows what it was, but it just got to be too much of a pain so I did the uninstall. I was thinking I would try your mod again after .31 is out for awhile, but the uninstall-reinstall process is not a picnic.

I never did get to play a game with the lizards, but I really enjoyed playing as the Dural and Chislev and against the Archos until the CTDs started coming. :(

Sounds do-able. Is the codebase you have available for public access the latest version, or do you have an internal one that I should work from? It shouldn't be too difficult to duplicate the changes needed so the process should be fairly quick as long as I've got the right files to start from.

Great :D The public version should be the latest, we havent had an update in a looong time because ploep has been away, although i do have my mod mod which i expect will mostly be incorporated in the main mod. we used FfH (Fire) as our code base, so i dont expect there would be much difference? we might need to re-upload the files though because of the uploading system breakdown. thanks a tonne Vehem :D

@woodelf, i still cant upload anything, is it supposed to be fixed yet?
 
The upload won't be fixed.

Use mediafire (or something similar) for files and photbucket/imageshack for pics. Signing up for either is easy and free.

Wasn't that just the "EasyUpload" system - I thought the "Add File" still worked?

I can start the game with all files, until the moment I copy the XML files in the Folder, than the errors appear.

I´m using the german version of the basic game, not sure if that could cause the problem. (Ffh2 is running without problems in english)

I hope you can help us, because this modmod loocks really awsome, I´d like to test it. :)

I just ran through the install from scratch to make sure things are ok but it seems to be fine. I did get a set of XML errors when I accidentally installed Patch D before installing the FF base mod. The German version should be fine, though the new text keys will display in English (sorry - my German isn't upto the task).
 
Hey Vehem will FF still work for the next version of FFH - its coming out on the 21st iirc.
 
It'll definitely be broken.

I assume (but don't know this for sure) that 0.31 will be a new d/l so as long as you have space on your computer you can have 0.30, 030FF, and 0.31 on there and wait for 031FF. :)
