"Fall Patch" announced

oh well, the longer it takes the better it will be. Who wants a patch that`ll break more than it fixes? Not me.

Basically if you ever have two units on a single city (for instance you finished building a unit while another one is garrisonned) with military castle policy on , moving one unit out of your city will reduce your culture per turn by 2 for the rest of the game.

How is this still in the game ? THis looks like a bug that you could suspect in a beta game not a full released game months old

Does firaxis playtest everything I doubt it because it wierd that we players have to find out about this bug I didn't even heard about this bug...

I don't know if this was true before, but at least in G&K in my games this does not happen.
What happens when you produce a unit in a city that already has a garrisoned unit is that you get double the military caste bonus for that turn from that city.
So you'll end up getting 2 extra culture each time a city that has a unit garrisoned produce a unit.
Then when you move one of them out, you'll lose the double garrison bonus.

So unless I'm wrong, you never actually lose anything, the bug only gives you a few extra points of culture during the whole game.

I agree. People need to learn to be more freaking patient.

It seems like I ran out of patience by the fall equinox. As you can tell, patience is not one of my strongest point.

I thought they would balance pikemen over any other units. I feel they are available far too early on and besides, they completely outclass swordsmen. I've been thinking about trying to modify the combat strength of pikemen myself, but I'd probably have to re-balance several units then.

Pikemen are fair because they upgrade to lancers. It's an upfront benefits vs. long term thing; sure, the pikemen are the most powerful thing in the medieval era (most powerful melee unit at any rate) but once the Renaissance rolls around the guy who invested in swords and gave them some easy kills for the promotions will be stomping you with muskets.

Personally, I think there should be a Phalanx unit before Pikemen (in the ancient era). These units (at least around the Med) were all people would fight with once.

I wish there was updated news too but, c'mon, they said it would be out by Oct. 26 and today is still the 17th. If the promised date comes and goes THEN I'll be seriously miffed...
when/where did they said that ?

They didn`t. Someone said it would be by then because that`s when Windows 8 is released. Not exactly a guarantee, but some have taken it as a sign of the Patch release.

On the other hand the Devs called it a `Fall` patch. I`m English and have no idea exactly when the `Fall` ends so I assume the Patch will be released by whatever date the `Fall` ends on.

Doesnt fall in Amerika start on the equinox (22 Sept)? So two months till fall is over.

You could probably say that all spearmen fight in the phalanx formation. Hoplites, particularly, as a unit, should probably be phalanges, but I think it's fair enough that the unit is named after the individual, rather than the unit as a whole, but it'd still probably be fair enough to consider all spearmen and hoplites phalanges, even if they aren't named as such.

Spring started on September 22 and will end on December 20, but that's here, so those are the dates for fall in the northern hemisphere.

Fall = Autumn - I'm a kiwi, it's only from years of American products that I've learnt the similarities

Oct 26 is the Windows 8 release date. I'm not sure if 2K actually promised for Win8 compatibility from day one, but certainly they will want to deliver that if possible.
There was a 2K video showing off Civ 5 on a touch screen PC, promising Windows 8 optimisation and saying it would be available for everyone in a patch delivered before Windows 8 is released

We like being unique. I go 35 MPH to work and I drive on the RIGHT side of the road. Weird huh?

No need. It works perfectly. I've been playing civ on win 8 for weeks. The whole "in time for win 8" is basically wishful thinking IMHO

I think they were referring to better support for touchscreen playing
