Fallout CFC RPG Development Thread

The RPG is set either right after F2 finishes or not more than a year after that. Thus there are a few cities known in the Fallout universe.

Cities:
Arroyo - destroyed by the soldiers of Enclave it is gone as a village. It used to be a village of tribals protected and located on top of a high canyon. It is surely to be rebuilt by the survivors of Vault 13 and Arroyo.

Broken Hills - a mining community composed of all humanoid races - mutants, ghouls and humans. Recent mining and xenophobia crisis were resolved by the Chosen One. However the future is still uncertain for this community. Broken Hills has a few shops, one caravan office and a tavern run by a ghoul in apron. There is also a small power station and uranium mine with a processing unit.

Den – is sometimes referred to as “Little New Reno”. It used to be a town of poor and Jet addicted people with a few businesses running. Now with criminal traders gone, Slavers Guild destroyed and Jet gone with disappearance of Myron,Den is becoming more and more deserted every day. Lara’s gang fights with a few small gangs over control of what’s remaining. 3 bars/taverns are still operating and Smitty is running his car shop. However with a power vacuum and its financial basis gone Den stands little chance of survival.

Gecko - a city of ghouls where they hope to be left in peace. A crisis with the Vault city and their own huge power plant was resolved by the Chosen One so the town does not have any problems of its own besides general animosity from Vault City. There's one bar, two traders and one technician.

Klamath – a small town of gecko hunters, rat trappers and brahmin herders. Two bars and a bath house are worth of notice in this place.

Modoc – lives of farming and Brahmin herding. A caravan office, a church and a couple of traders stay in the city. Modoc recently established contact with an underground community of humans and ghouls which nominally joined it and can be found a little to the North of it. In Modoc Inn a traveler can try something called “eggs” that has amazing healing effects.

NCR – New Californian Republic, previously known as Shady Sands. NCR is THE most powerful force in the area constantly increasing its influence on other cities North, South, West and East from it. NCR (city) is a big settlement with a large police force. NCRs main products are bramin and agricultural goods; however NCR controls many towns that produce more valuable goods. NCR has a good hospital, power plant, two taverns and gun shops.

New Reno – a town of sin a violence is recovering from “family genocide” inflicted by the Chosen One. Wright family – the only family to survive took control of New Reno trying to turn it into a “normal” town. Main income comes from gambling and alcohol production.

Redding – a mining town. Thanks to the Chosen One the one mine of two is now activated and Redding joined NCR. Besides a casino, a doctor a few stores and a sheriff, Redding has beast fights where citizens gamble.

San Francisco – has survived the war, but is now mostly populated by Chinese survivors. A fairly advanced, but conservative society lives there.

Vault City – very strictly regulated society. Financially it survives from “slave” labour and high-tech products especially medicine. Biggest problem of the Vault city is under population. The City has everything a high-tech city has to offer. It is surely to be taken over by NCR.

Military Bases:
Navarro – an Enclave Vertibled base. Unfortunately the Chosen One did not cleanse if from Enclave soldiers and never visited it since its downfall.

Toxic Caves – a former military base of unknown purpose North of Klamath. Currently has no strategic value and is inhabited by geckos. It is moderately radiated.

Sierra Army Depot - completely abandoned and half-destroyed military base.

Vaults:

Vault 13 – origin of the Vault Dweller and Arroyo tribe is now still in a good condition to serve as a home to anyone. Its future is unknown.

Vault 15 – with Darion and his raiders gone people living around the Vault re-structured their city and tried to make the vault hospitable.

Mutants aka Super Mutants
Super mutants are mutated humans, products of the Forced Evolutionary Virus, or F.E.V.. They stand approximately 3.2 meters tall, have (mostly) green or gray skin, are immune to disease and radiation, and are gifted with exceptional strength and endurance. They possess redundant internal organ structures, i.e., two hearts, extra kidneys, etc. They also possess the exceptionally long life span of the mutated, as well as being completely sterile.

Ghouls
Most known ghouls were created from vault dwellers living in Vault 12 under the city of Bakersfield (better known as the Necropolis after the Great War). As part of the vast Vault Experiment Program, the Vault 12 door was designed not to close properly. Thus, massive amounts of radiation attacked those within the Vault, most of whom were turned into the current ghoul population. Generally, in the Fallout universe, massive exposure to radiation causes humans to transform into ghouls.

All ghouls are completely sterile. There is only one generation of ghouls in the wasteland and it is the last. Furthermore, the ghoul transformation grants its subjects extremely long life. Ghouls created in the Great War of 2077 were still alive during Fallout (2161) and Fallout 2 (2241). Ghouls are generally as intelligent as normal human (more or less, although not just as charismatic, you might aswell say). However, their extreme ugliness makes the life of a ghoul difficult at best. Ghouls are, naturally, immune to radiation. Radiation poisoning can't really get worse for them.

Glowing Ones are ghouls who absorbed so much radiation that they glow in the dark. They are often considered outsiders even by other ghouls. The Glowing Ones also emit radiation, so they can be dangerous to normal humans.

If you are a Glowing One, your glow eliminates modifiers from light in combat for both you and your enemies. In addition, you gain a +50% bonus to Radiation Resistance, but everyone around you gets radiated a bit.

Human
Despite the existence of various mutations, normal humans are still the most common sentient creatures in the planet.

Non-Humans:

Deathclaw

Deathclaws are the mutated descendants of chameleons, grown enormously large, agile, and strong.
Enclave captured many deathclaws and exposed them to FEV. This boosted their intelligence, giving them the ability to talk with varying degrees of erudition and articulation. While the Enclave hoped that the Deathclaws would be intelligent enough to obey orders without being so intelligent as to question them. They later abandoned the Enclave.
Intelligent Deathclaws have a rigidly hierarchical, peaceful, pack-based ethical code. Fights within a pack are unheard of, and the pack's leader controls many aspects of life, such as choosing and matching female and male deathclaws for reproduction. Some may have survived annihilation at the hands of Enclave.

Totally groovy! Totally man, Goober should see this. Or was it an independant effort? Anyway I was asked to help out and I will. Gotta bookmark it.

*there*

see yaz around :)

Goober?

Am I missing something here?

Well anyway, bar the Fallout background (stuff like that in the bible), this is all being done by me and Gelion :).

We are going to make a list of things that need doing soon, so if anyone wants to help, then is the time.

Vehicles, I can pull some pages and statistics from Twilight 2000 sources I bet.
T2K is based in a world where it all went nuclear in the late 90's... 1996 I believe. Should be similar, the Fallout world goes boom somewhere in the mid two thousands, right? That's fifty years of crucial difference, BUT the technology is still based on our time with a nifty addition of laser and plasma here and there the developers never truly left the late twentieth century era.

I'll try and see if I can find any of the good stuff.

About Goober, he might be the one who started the game which might have inspired Gelion but I dunno, maybe not. ;)

Actually, it was my idea to make a Fallout RPG :p.

Anything should help, I can always tweak it.

I can't remember if I said this already, but I am using GURPS.

Gelion should add that to his first post.

Goober's game was great, but RPG's were always sweeter imho =^_^=, I want to run around in the Fallout World w/ NES'rs and Civ3Fanatics and see how we crazy people behave in such an enviroment. ;)

Hehe, Clinton as an NPC character. That's sweet, too bad he's either really, really old or dead by now.

Hmmm, having Pc troubles at the moment.

I should be able to resume (I am doing most of this on my PC) by the end of next week...

Hopefully.

Sorry for the delay.

Right, i'm back in business.

I shalt get straight back to work.

I've been carrying on with this is the background, but i've also just created a site for a few of my RPGs.

It's still in development at the moment, like the forums, but in a few weeks I should hopefully complete it.

Enjoy :).

Ummmm, Sorry that this has stalled, but I haven;t been able to contact Gelion recently.

Anyone know what happened to him?

The last time he visited was the 23rd of September.

:hmm:

I don't seem to find any information on how you intend to make the game?

Will you write your own engine, use a opensource one, or use tools like RPGMaker?

I'm using GURPS, which comes in book format ;).

This is not a software game, it is a "pen and paper" game :).

Check out some of the old (sadly deceased) RPG's we've had here on CFC for an idea of what goes on.

Ahahahaha I just blew the toliet up in Fallout 2 again it never stops amusing me how funny it is.

So much feaces everywhere in town.

Yep, he just disappeard without leaving a notice. (Back in the NES Forum that is) He probably has some kind of computer problems, but it's been way too long to be something like that. So be prepared for the possible fact that he might not come back at all. :(

Hmmmm, if he isn't back, I will either need to quit the project or get someone to take his place, as I don't know that much about Fallout.

Maybe FF?

You play RPGs, no?
