 It would be a lot of work. Not because of the number of units in a tile, but because it's a completely different game, with a different engine. They would have to start over and remake everything from scratch.

It'll never happen for those reason and the fact that thor hates the game.

Introducing the Secbot, my first humanoid unit...

Secbot_demo.gif

ok. it must be said. that unit is awesome. this whole mod will be awesome. i.. cant.. wait.. :twitch:

Flamand, I did not wish the Fallout units released till the mod was. As I know the units are the main reason folks DL a Mod, not to play it. So please do me a favor and not release the Fallout units till the mod is ready.:(

The download for the bot has been removed. Sorry for the inconvenience...

what... i mean how? it doesnt make sense! why dont you like civ 4 thor?? :( its so cool and fun! and it lets you play any way you like! slow.. normal... fast! big medium small! the only downfall is the map editor... i dont like it... but the rest of the game kicks royal ass! but oh well at least i can still enjoy it... well the secbot is awesome and i still like the game!

In order to make up for premature posting I started remodelling the Brainbot. Here's a test. All I need is the weapon and I can really start... Got some cool ideas for this one! :)

EDIT: bumped into an M14 and a Thompson SMG. Which one should I use? Or one of each?

I think the M14 would be what we want... I could also imagine a HK G3 to fit in...

Okay..here goes nothing... If I wanted, say, only the units from your mod, I have to wait `till the mod is done. Then I have to DL the whole mod, take out units I need, and delete the rest. Making people wait for units to be released with the mod will not ensure that people will be playing the mod! This is just an example, as I said before (somewhere), the Fallout mod is the reason I joined CFC! I know most people know me as the WH mod guy (check the last line in the sig :D), but thats just cos that one is finished, and I`m playing it. Well, I did play it untill I started to learn modding ;)
Anyway, those are just my 2 cents.

Cheers, Handsome Axeman

Here is the Brainbot run animation. Itwill be ready for Christmas... :)

why doesnt some one set up a paypal donation to it or something so then production of it might actually happen and so that it might come out by christmas 2007 or sooner.

I must say that this is an interesting mod.... I was interested in the Fallout games when they came out, but neither mine nor my brother's comps could run the game, and we were too poor to upgrade... I did play Arcanum, of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (which uses the same engine, I think), and enjoyed that game immensely.

I must say, I love your Post apocalyptic terrain, which, I might add would also work for some kind of alien planet scenario. I'll be keeping tabs on this as it progresses.

BTW, how do you convert the fallout units? The reason I'm asking is because if Arcanum uses the same engine, I'd like to try converting some stuff from that game (like my Gun-slinging Technologist Elf Chick).

Hikaro, what I do is use a program called SPR to GIF, then I use a gif editing program called Gif Animator by Ulead. That allows me to resize the canvas without actually changing the unit size itself. With that I also change the background and shadow colors to civ versions. Then I use anim shop to pull the frames out of the gif. Because if you use anim shop to resize the gif, it auto applies anti-aliasing. With Fallout Gifs, it just makes them so fuzzy as to be unusable. So I resize each frame using Paint Shop Pro to resize and rename. Then I use Flicster and Steph's SBB to convert to flc. :)

The process is not as hard as it sounds, just VERY tedious.

Money isn't the issue. No money is going in or coming out of this project. It's soley based on volunteers, same as every other mod. Money wouldn't make this mod come out any faster

You know MC, I am kind of insulted by the money thing. I am doing this because I love Civ and Fallout. Not for any type of monetary gain. To me it is an insult to my dignity that some folks think they could 'bribe' me to let it go any earlier. Little do they know me. They could NOT raise enough bucks to get me to release it any earlier.

Unlike a lot of suits who have no pride in what they offer to their followers/customers, I take pride in what I do. The Fallout mod will have my name attached, so it is MY reputation on the line. So for the last time,

IT WILL BE RELEASED WHEN I FEEL IT IS READY!

Hey, Thanx for the info, Thor.... Where do I get this SPR to GIF prog anyways? Is it bundled with the program (I remember Arcanum had an editor package of some kind, but I haven't played it in a long time....)

I think I might have a quicker way for you to re-size the frames.... I assume that this SPR to Gif exports animated GIF files..... I'd just open them with Animation shop, select all frames and export them into PsP. Once there, I'd re-size them and save them all as BMP files in my unit render folders, run SBB, re-open in PsP, load a pallette and save as Flicster ready FLic.... It's still horribly time consuming, but it should save some time.

Yeah, and I feel for you with people bugging you about your production times.... For the past year pretty much all I hear when I post a new FF unit or update in the thread is "Oh when's the mod coming out!?!?!!?!!11111one"

My answer still is, "A lot sooner if I could get some #$%!& help around here."
