Ahh, the vampire elephant rides again!

(Because it's got no shadow, see? see! I am witty, honest)

I'm going to change that, I just haven't gotten around to it. Rest assured I'm still going to work on my mod, even though Rise and Rule is out. My mod has things the RAR doesn't have after all.

Pinktilapia, do you think I should put the Indians back in? I've been debating this idea for quite some time...

Vampire Elephants....thats a good one.... I wonder if they lack reflections as well?

Well, I certainly understand you have a debate on the matter. Although I don't like the idea to have a civ named the Indians, they certainly deserve to be represented somewhere, I just can't figure by which civilization(s)... And a division between Muslim Indians (Mogols) and Indus Indians (what was that city name... Viriijnagar or the kind?) would be great as well... Err, life is full of choices...

I was thinking of the Indians who battled Alexander the Great, built the Taj Mahal, and had Giandi as a famaos citizen of their nation. There are currently two South Asian civs in Far Horizons(Siam and Kymer), a third would be pretty cool. But is India the best choice?

There must be many with better knowledge on India than I do, but my understanding is that there has rarely be a indian state strong enough to reunite large part of India for a consequent period of time, at a few exception such as the Mogols, the Indu southern state of Vir...whatever it is spelled (I can check if you think it is useful).

Ok, suggestions:
1. Keep it as generic as possible like vanilla, with the 'Indians', possibly not led by Gandhi, which will actually represent the diverse Indian states through history.
2. Get the real Indian powerhouse from the past, the Mogols, although they are not really Indian but originated from Central Asia.
3. Forget about South Asia, on which I know so little and focus on Southeast Asia even more (how lucky for them!) and get the last missing continental kindgom, Annam (Vietnam) which should be something like agricultural/militaristic.

And then of course the Malay will come shouting at you saying that they were great traders, etc. etc., good luck :)!

Do you plan to post any more previews, Sword of Geddon? I'm salivating over the thought

About civs: Which ones do you have in the game? Or have you decided yet? I agree about the 31 civ limit thing, It's too bad you can't include all the south east asian civs and still have room for the rest of the world. But then, if you include a couple, it's like you have to include the rest. (Which is why in my mod I just have SE asia as one civ - to save space) So, just a suggestion, maybe you should combine some of your other civs to make room.

Just one more thing :crazyeye: I think you should include India, and as the whole subcontinent (saving space thing again). I'd vote for Babar as leader to make it feel more like historic India rather than just modern, which it seems like in regular CivIII. But of course, what would you use for a UU, now that you have the elephants spread out among a few civs?

Hi, just as a short comment of last post :p,
I agree with the practical use of generic civilizations such as Southeast Asia/India, but it also removes most of their flavor in the same time... It could be done by reflecting a series of kingdoms through times in one civ: e.g. Southeast Asia: Khmer (Age 1) – Ayutthaya (Age 2) – Siam (Age 3) – ASEAN (Age 4), each with a special UU illustrating the kingdom of the current age.
Also keep in mind India wasn't much using elephants warlike outside antiquity.

Sword of Geddon, an interesting thing you're doing that I like with Far Horizons and Heart of Destiny is replacing a lot of the traditional civs with new ones, more than the norm. I'm sure if there were a higher civ limit, you could include all the civs you want, but of course that's not possible. Your mod seems unique though in that you just don't have the same old civs with a few additions. Instead, you get the opportunity to play as lots of new, different civs rather than just those same old ones, which is neat. I would even encourage you to add in more new civs (that's just my opinion, though, perhaps you or others think you already have enough). Of course you would have to keep a good amount of the big civs, like the Chinese and Romans etc. , but I would definately look forward to trying out for example, the Toltecs instead of / as a replacement for Aztecs and Mayans. Far Horizons includes a lot of civs that I know most people wouldn't dream to have in their epic mod, but once again, I think it's a great change to see these new ones and have an opportunity to play them.

Thankyou Redalert...that means alot to me that you say that...I mean it.

My main complaint with Civ3 is that it is far to Euro-Centric...
I liked DyP's use of flavor units. I've tried to make playing each civ a unique experience, beyond UU's.

It contains elements of DyP, Steph's Mod sure, but I still believe Far Horizons is unique.

Your Southeast Asian Graphics and EuroMeditarian graphics will be a mandatory part of Heart of Destiny btw..hehe.

UPDATE: I've replaced the Azteks with the Toltecs. To increase space in Central America, I've increased the number of land tiles in the region.

WOW! Now I'm really, really excited! About how much more do you have to do before Heart of Destiny is complete?

You'll still be posting more screenshots all the while, right? :D
