I was just using a single example. There are more. Parthian cavalry existed in a fairly mountainous area. Afghan nomads used cavalry, though they weren't famous for it. And shipping an army over a mountain pass is fairly easy.

Once again, we wish to extend to you the offer to send delegates to the Curia. In the east, Maasla Kiesta has done so, and we now prosper together. A new world order is emerging, and you do not want to be left behind.

You are threatened from a great force from beyond the limits of civilization. Without unity, you will surely fall. We wish to offer you this unity. Send delegates to the Curia, and we will extend our military protection to you.

Let us have formalized peace via pact of non-agression. Perhaps 3 turns would be suitable?
We would suggest a 5 turn NAP and an alliance against the invading hordes of the south. Should your realm be attacked we will support you as you see fit.

To: The disparate and soon to be desperate tribes bordering T’lur Pa

The hordes of Taruq will soon be upon you and you will be swept away before the onslaught of their masses. Ally with us that together we may ensure the survival of civilization as we know it. United we will prevail.

5-turn NAP and alliance is fine with us. However, we wish insist that this alliance be purely defensive, and for the duration of the NAP. Is that acceptable, venerable T'Lur Pa?

We join only out of fear. The cloud of Taruq hovers over us and we are no match against them along.

Stories and Tales of Waterside

In the spring after the settling of Far Haven, T’lur Pa traders displayed the first pelts of arctic fox and ermine and white bear ever seen in the Cradle. They were magnificent beyond imagination: thick, warm, pure of color and quite expensive. Ariana set the fashion trend for all the known world to follow and demand boomed in every market. Each spring following there was great anticipation for the first of the winter catch that would soon arrive. The shipments, of course, went to Waterside and from there up river and out to the many trading cities all around the Great Sea. The traditional slowness of the spring trading was engulfed with new buyers all vying for the very best of the northland furs.

Even rarer than the exotic pelts was a peculiar horn of spiraled ivory of unknown origin. Perhaps it came from some mythical beast now flesh? It was said to have magical properties and could detect poison, extend life or improve potency and manliness. In any case there were never enough horns and those traders that had the ear of Queen or Consort often knew who to ask or what market stall to visit.

We accept the challenge. May we cross your lands to fight them?
